Oh definitely. Swift was nice and shifty, but his indecision, relatively low top speed to break away for 40-50 yard runs without someone catching up and his health was really not even close to how good Gibbs is in all those fields. As for Jamal, Monty is Jamal but with actual shiftiness, not just a bruiser. It's like our rb room was a 7/10, now it's a 9/10, hell maybe even 10/10 depending on how this year goes.
Most his TDs were GL carries running behind one of the top OL in football. Gibbs has the speed to take it the distance every time he touches the ball. Monty and Gibbs are an upgrade no doubt.

Statistically, Gibbs is fast but both Swift and Williams had better college stats than Montgomery & Gibbs they had way more rushing yards than Gibbs. The draft was interesting to watch. Brad Holmes drafted both for the Presant and Future. The frist and second round Draft Picks are impact players. Picks in the third and the later rounds are development players for the future. Overall a great Draft.

Lions visited with him so figured he was on their radar. They acquired the late 7th and then swapped that pick for a bit higher one, thought that was so they could get him. He had offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State and choose UNC. I think he’s got some good skills and tools to offer depth, with some deep ball potential.
The first half of this draft has already proven to be monstrous. Be on the lookout for Sorsdal and Martin to be hidden gems for us in the future, too. Can’t wait to see this class in 2024 😁😁😁

Nobody is talking about Jack Campbell. His RAS is identical to another LB you might remember, Luke Kuechly from Carolina. He was drafted #9 overall and made the Pro Bowl in 7 of his 9 seasons. They have the same build and almost the same speed but Jack is a little more athletic as evidenced by his 3 cone numbers. We got a beast.

That’s what Monty is for. Gibbs is a weapon on offense, out wide, in the slot , jet sweeps get him in space and let him work. He can get the tough yards inside as well but he’s no 3 down back. Ben Johnson gonna be a mad scientist scheming up plays for Gibbs.
I think Henderson Hooker is the biggest sleeper and will turn out to be the real deal and be just as good as Matthew Stafford potentially. Concerned about the running back because even tho Swift was injury proned he seemed to be getting better with that area and he has way more agility than the RB we drafted

I love all of these guys so much but I think with a little coaching brodric could become even better especially with his size and athleticism. I also feel like Gibbs and Laporta are going to be staples in this detroit offense for many years. Jack and Brian are gonna be studs in the NFL and Colby and Antoine have a good base to build into SOLID players.
The NFC North is gonna be COMPETITIVE this year with ARod leaving GB, good draft by Detroit, maybe if Hooker ends up being the starter at some point (just a possibility nothing against Goff as he's still the starter), him and Fields will have a competitive rivalry for years to come

Lions went 5-1 last year against the Division and should’ve beat Minnesota at their place. GB lost Rogers, MIN didn’t get better, and CHI is who they are (not very good). Lions should sweep the division and make the playoffs this season.
good job on draft recap! never been expert on college players other than videos and cant grade this class but our last 2 classes have graded out well so i feel confident the coaches will coach these players to their full potential. We will see. I'm very please we have a dt and linebacker that can attempt to reduce 5.2 yrs vs the rush. we have to get the numbers down. I do like the the Herndon pick sitting in the wings in case jg gets hurt. the branch pick is good considering most of our coverage players are on short term contracts after the season
