      Agree but they had two first round reaches in my opinion but overall I like the haul the Lions ended up with

    • @jppagetoo
      @jppagetoo ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@avidediter66 Maybe they were reaches, maybe not. I think with post draft insights it is likely that Gibbs wasn't going to last very much longer before being picked, maybe not to even 18. Once Bijan Robinson went so early, Gibbs was now in demand. Campbell at 18 was much the same. Neither Gibbs nor Campbell were going to make it past pick 25. If Detroit wanted both these players, then there were very much obligated to pick them where they did. So maybe it was a few picks early for both of these guys, but wow... the Lions got some good players. The Lions can make some noise this year. The team is stocked. Picking players at the top of the draft to develop in a year or two doesn't make sense for this team. Both these guys will be on the field for the Lions this season. Win now.

    My father played DE in high school and college and I played DB. Brain Branch and I are almost exactly the same size so I can tell you from dealing with much larger, lower center of gravity RB's and FB's that its really about approach to the tackle at hand. BB is able to contort his body and estimate the necessary speed and angle to not hurt himself but deliver the maximum damage for his size. That's exactly how my father coached me. He has excellent football smarts and anticipation which is not taught. You either have it or you don't. I did not, Brian Branch does.

      @@enthusedfern So versatile means you’re a better player? Not all the time, I’d rather have a Darrell Revis type corner over CJGJ back up. I’m not hating on the pick, I’m saying Witherspoon falling to us and Branch would’ve been INSANE

    • @enthusedfern
      @enthusedfern ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spencer8699 cjgj and Brian branch will be important. They have already said they are true dbs and will be used at cb and safety. We have it set up to have a strong 3 or 4 safety set that can tackle effectively and hawk the ball. Sutton and Mosley are both coming off their best seasons statistically, before Mosley went out with injury obviously. Personally, I don't like cb in the first round. They are, in more cases than not, unreliable and have a lot of growing to do. It's anomalous for 1st round cbs to come out and dominate. I would take proven corners over a 1st round corner any day even if they have a higher ceiling.

      you could flip those picks. first off, safety tends to fall more than you would expect. second, with all the good corners in this draft you could probably get witherspoon or someone comparable at 18. so id say go branch at 6 (or move down a few spots) and witherspoon at 18, assuming you want all secondary.

    Glad other people are noticing. Seemed like he was getting automatically thrown to Safety by everyone and behind Ringo, Porter and Gonzales in every mock. If the Srahawks go db in the draft, I can see them getting Branch, putting him at nickel and moving Coby Bryant to the outside to battle Mike Jackson. I would go a different route because the needs are so much stronger on both interior offensive line and the whole d line and inside linebacker.

      @@botboi4334 you’re right. I’m sure people said the same stuff about allen coming into the draft. I’m from kentucky, but not a kentucky fan, so I see all of the games and all of the talk about him. Even UK fans don’t think he’ll be good at the next level 😂 but it will be interesting to see. I think it would be interesting to see him on the giants, if he could sit for a year behind jones and have daboll as his coach

    Let's cover a less hyped QB. I'm tired about hearing of the same few. Stetson Bennet is actually a good candidate. Looking into everything about him is quite impressive and even his combine performance

      That's a lot to put on a player. Troy was a different beast. I'd like to see Branch wear the same uniform though.
