Doctor Who is back with a Christmas special from Russell T Davies and Ncuti Gatwa. But as their ratings drop and the Doctor seems more preoccupied, we’ve somehow ended up worse than Jodie Whittaker. This episode had everything, including multiple songs, dancing and a really bad plot. What more could the audience want 😂 But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)
Seriously, i was about to comment on your ‘Meep’ video, and ask after the whereabouts of your other Doctor WHO reviews. Dude, keep this up, hilarity has already ensued! “Oh no, I’ve given birth to the ‘patriarchy’…”
Reasonable concerns about misplaced, misuse of "The Message" aside... Does this man in any way give the impression of being a hyper-intelligent alien who has lived many lives, seen very many astonishing things, and learned much over his 1,000+ years of lonely existence? When Mat Smith was cast as the Doctor I was concerned until I first saw him in the role, then with a sigh of relief thought "You've got it."
Remember that scene during Matt Smith's first episode, where he asks the aliens if the Earth is protected, then walks throught the hologram of all the other aliens the Doctor vanquished, and said: "Hello, I'm The Doctor........basically, RUN". The doubts and fears that many fans had about an actor in his mid twenties playing the Doctor disappeared in an instant. This episode is pretty much the complete opposite of that.
That was a great scene. At first I too was worried about Matt Smith as the Doctor but that scene with the giant eyeball and seeing all the incarnations of the Doctor was brilliant. The ever watchful and defiant Doctor in all his dark glory. He could be silly, but when push came to shove you got to see just who you were really dealing with. The millennia of pain and suffering that he carried with him the intractable doctor is one not to be messed with. Tennant was may favorite doctor of the new series, but Matt did the role some real justice. I stopped watching midway through Whittiker's run, I just couldn't stomach it any more.
What's particularly repellant about Jodie's Doctor being "socially awkward" about her whyte male "fam" being scared of his cancer coming back is the fact that *she could take him to a place and time where **_they'd already cured cancer_* but instead chose to do nothing and walk away.
@@katarinabrunk8698 maybe Graham is meant to have cancer for a while. It's like saving Charley Pollard when she is supposed to die. (bit like What If's Doctor Strange episode where a death is a fixed point in time)
@@MatthewCYN15 then the writers really should have given some sort of hint to that instead of making The Doctor look like she just doesn't care, that's the other thing, she could have at least cared!
This retelling of Labyrinth for 'modern audiences' falling so short of the original just shows how well David Bowie's musical about goblins stealing babies for the goblin king nailed it the first time around :P
Interestingly, I read a Labyrinth fanfiction some years back and the plot had some similarities with this who episode. . . except the fanfiction made sense - Sarah had bad luck because the goblins of the Labyrinth were visiting her but were invisible to her and so they kept accidentally tripping her, spilling things on her, knotting her hair and taking her stuff. Just proving that the so called professionals on this show are woefully bad, they should be at least at the level of good fanfiction amateur writers - but they are not.
The correct response to finding out aliens are eating babies is to ask how to get them to stop, permanently. The characters seem to be awfully okay with it. I am surprised the doctor didn't ask for a taste.
In Huxley's Brave New World, movies and stories have been replaced by "feelies", which exist solely to invoke emotions without any further logic or context. I feel like that's exactly the level of depth Hollywood is aiming for.
I’ve seen so many social media comments in recent years about dramas that only talk about it making them cry. Evoking tears seems to be the criteria for whether a drama was a successful piece of television for so many people. The famous British reserve of sotoicism and a stiff upper lip is definitely extinct 😂
yeah you see, it was because the show had WRITERS WHO COULD ACTUALLY FRIGGING WRITE and they made those trash cans scary! THIS SHOW IS A SICK PARODY of something that once meant something to a lot of people.
@@swanvictor887 👍 Indeed. A show could have a billion dollar budget for special effects and still be bad if the writers didn’t write a good story, but with a good story written by competent writers, you could have a special effects budget of zero and still have something that people enjoy - I’m listening to an audiobook of “Fellowship of the Ring” right now with just a single narrator reading the story and doing all the voices, and it’s infinitely better than Disney has put out recently despite them spending hundreds of millions of dollars on special effects and CGI on all their failed shows this year.
I've been doing the same, although I've gone all the way back to Hartnell. Baker is still my favorite, but they can't take away all of the great Who we've already got.
Baker was the one who I knew as the Doctor myself. I'm not a hardcore fan, but I know enough to know they are Star Wars/Star Trek/Lord of the RIngs-ing this show. My sympathies are with you.
Rose Tyler was a genuine asset to the 9th and 10th Doctors, and when she was written out of the show I just couldn't bring myself to care anymore. They had a chemistry that Martha Jones just couldn't even begin to duplicate by her 6th episode-which admittedly, had a really good antagonist with Dr. Lazarus-and I just put the whole show down after that. Seeing what they've done to the show present day indicates it was the right decision.
As someone who was OBSESSED with Harry Houdini in his younger days, I am most annoyed by their claim that devoted husband & heterosexual Harry Houdini would ever have shacked up with any version of the Doctor... Also, is that gay romp supposed to have taken place before or after the Doctor became a gay black man?
I dont presume to know if you have watched classic who, specifically the third doctor but he does say that he met houdini and its played as more of them being good friends.
So Ncuti has lived from age 2 in the UK yet still feels affinity to a country where his family nearly died (The Rwandan genocide of 1994). He has no Scottish accent (like none at all) yet whenever he tries imitating it he does a worse job of it than people who never set foot in Scotland .
The silver lining in all this is that calling everyone an istaphobe when they don't like your show obviously no longer works. I bet you they go crawling back to Tennant and beg him back after the next two seasons of this tripe. Y'all need to vote to defund the BBC, let them try and make their money the same as every other TV station.
Labour will probably win the next elections. And whatever milquetoast plans the Tories had for dealing with the BBC will probably be thrown into the trash.
15:10 "I've even been trampled by a moose" I will be calling bullshit on that one since if a fucking *_moose_* trampled you not only would you not be having that phone call, the morgue would have a hard time figuring out who the pressed mincemeat used to be. You do not fuck with moose.
You say that but Moose attacks rarely end in fatalities. Most often people get run down and then the Moose sees that it's done its job of showing you who's boss and defending its young/territory. Most people who get attacked by Moose are run down while jogging, hiking, or biking. Most of them survive with minor injuries. You're talking about approx 400 fatalities to 50,000 injuries for the whole of North America. Most attacks are instigated by Moose with their young. Your statement was heavily exaggerated. Still. They seriously outnumber Bear fatalities. That just goes to show how much you don't want to fuck with one. This like saying: "Oh you survived a Shark attack? Bullshit. Tiger Sharks are massive and they can rip you apart in seconds!" but the truth is that most shark attacks end with one single bite and the person survives.
@@Unethical.FandubsGames The language being used is pretty important imo. Being "trampled" and being "run down" do imply different levels of threat. Being "run down" by a moose can simply mean that it was intimidating you into leaving it and the calf alone, but being "trampled" implies that the moose actually stepped on you, which would lead to horrific injuries at best. Same thing with shark "attacks" since if a shark _attacked_ you then it would be highly unlikely for you to live to tell the tale, but as you said most incidents involving sharks end with just one light nibble from the shark because it's checking to see if you're edible. 99.9% of the time that ends with the shark thinking "ew, no" and leaving.
Thoughts: 1. Discount Rose Tyler is the new companion. 2. Does gen Z even know who Davina McCall is? 3. That nightclub scene would fit well in Netflix's Dahmer. 4. The 'plot' is a poor version of Labyrinth. 5. RTD said he is taking this into a fantasy direction, but he is not clever enough to write good fantasy and instead uses the 'object is magic trope'.
@@KrishanChoudhury-xw7dr 1. OP didn’t say she was Rose, but instead a ‘discount Rose Tyler’, ie she is a poor retreading of a similar character. 2. How do you know, do you speak for a whole generation? 3. I don’t know the show Dahmer to comment, but I think you’re over generalising the original statement on purpose to make it seem absurd. 4. Pointing out other episodes which copied shows badly doesn’t make this wrong.Of course this is very similar to the Goblins stealing a baby plot of Labyrinth, I noticed it immediately. Labyrinth made a whole lot more sense than this episode. 5. wow, comparing the intricate, well thought out, arguably too complex system of magic in LOTR to this ‘oh we’re on a hanging ladder, now I just happen to have the exact right thing for this circumstance on my person, never mind how useful this would have been in multiple circumstances where I never brought it out as even an option’.
Welp...the BBC always wanted to cancel Doctor Who back in the day. What better way to get what they've always wanted then by having the fans wanting the same thing?😑
Back then, the 80's, the BBC saw it as a joke, a relic of the 60's. Now we have the reverse, because the BBC sees this show as crucial in pushing THE MESSAGE, whereas the fans just want it to be cancelled to put it out of its misery.
The last time I can remember singing in Doctor Who was The Last Song in The Rings of Akhaten, an incredibly beautiful song during which the doctor gives a powerful and heart-wrenching speech to a parasite sun that feeds on memories about the sheer scope and tragedy of his life, desperately hoping in vain that Akhaten might just take it all from him and allow him some measure of peace from things he'll never be able to forget, before the doctor hangs his head in sorrow as Akhaten begins going back to sleep... ...and now we have the goblin song.
I used to be so upset when Tennant left, now I realise what a great Doctor Matt was. He's a really good actor, that much was clear to me from the beginning. And the writing on his seasons was so poetic.
11th’s speech in The Rings of Akhaten was truly my favourite moment in Doctor Who ever. Matt embodies the vastness of the Doctor’s life and experiences, his contradictions, the old and the young. How did we go from that to this?

Ruby should’ve been absolutely rattled by what she just saw after getting out of the goblin ship, but she’s just chill like she shared a cab with the guy or something. The other companions are at least skeptical about The Doctor until it becomes clear that he knows his shit, and even then they’re amazed by what’s happening.
Why though? Like, at this point in the series the earth’s been transported to a different solar system at least a dozen times, people fell apart and turned into cute little fat guys, everyone got turned into John Simm, the titanic nearly crashed into the palace, the earth was threatened with incineration by the space police and got invaded by sentient potatoes. And that’s just the stuff they remember. The worst part in all of this is that the BBC was ready to cancel the show, even that license money was not enough, but the Mouse had to save it with their deeper pockets. Can't allow one of their propaganda tools break that easily now, can we?
Dank, the Doctor's name isn't Doctor Who. Doctor Who is the title of the show. Doctor Who is more of a question. The main character is the Doctor. That's the only name we're given.
He finally accomplished the thing that The Master, Davros, The Dalleks and other enemies throughout time and space could not do…kill Doctor Who for good
Somehow I don't think it was his acting ability they were testing. I would say "He can't get any campier" but I get the feeling that would be considered a challenge.
William Hartnell is Doctor Who. Ncuti Gatwa is Ncuti Gatwa. I say that because since the Timeless Child they haven't been doing Doctor Who. We hoped RTD would fix the show, but nope. Even he started the numbering back to 1. This is a spinoff.

@prestigemultimediagroup6436 They don't have everyone's money. We currently have a choice whether to support the BBC, we can choose to cancel our TV licenses and not pay for this sh.. and a great many already have. However, I believe that when the license fee becomes untenable due to enough people cancelling it, the government will fund the BBC from either general taxation, or it will be added to council tax. While the BBC hates the tories, both the BBC and the tories are controlled by the same globalist bosses. While the BBC is pumping out globalist, anti-Wht, anti-British propaganda and messaging, it won't be allowed to collapse.
Starting over with a clean slate seems to have backfired a bit. The doctor is now apparently an entirely new character, and you don't see much of the other new who actors in him. While that isn't an objectively bad thing, it does make the whole regeneration concept a lot less compelling, since it isn't the same software with a different face - its as new and weird as the sonic screwdriver
Man do I hate when they do things like retconning real people to fit *the message.* Implying that Houdini cheated on his wife just to explain getting out of a rope is disgusting.
@NightShinerStudio Jodie Whittaker said a similar line, about a ''something something wet summer with Houdini'' can't remember the episode name but it was the one where her and co met King James
@NightShinerStudio If your ‘joke’ is made with hate, ill-willed, etc, it’s not a ‘joke’, and saying “I was just kidding”, ain’t gonna cut it. This is blackface, cultural vandalism/appropriation, and it’s done as a “fvck you” to anyone not obsessively far left. Pretending “it’s just a joke”, is disingenuous at best.
I wasn't expecting much from Gatwa's performance due to 2 reliable red flags. 1. His short imdb credits list, which for some reason is common in roles like this, i.e. canon or history breaking raceswaps and roles like Reva's in Kenobi. I've wondered if experienced/good actors just know not to to take these roles. 2. The fact he was cast quickly. He reportedly just walked in one time and RTD was like, "You're hired!" Quick casting has become a problem lately, leading to lots of miscastings in key roles the past several years. They used to take a lot more time about it- and they did indeed use the old school way for One Piece, which led to not just well cast actors, but also ones that had chemistry with each other.
Crazy how much casting affects a show or production and as an audience we just don't even think about it generally UNLESS it goes wrong in some way lol
I've had chronic depression for years, and your videos make me laugh out loud. This review makes up for Robyn Hood being over! (Seriously, let's get a season 2!) That being said, I haven't watched any of the new Dr Who specials, and seeing this one even second hand in your hilarious review still caused me physical pain. I used to love the Doctor, but after Capaldi it's gotten SO bad. They've lost me. My condolences to the British people for losing such a beloved historic icon. RIP to Doctor Who. Cheers from the States!
A friend recently made me interested in doctor who (I saw like 2 episodes like 15+ years ago when I was way younger and it made no sense), my first re-introduction episode was the angels episode (where the doctor is reading from the finished transcript of the conversation he's having with the two people through a video recording chat thing), then I see the 'new who', and even I can see that somehow they butchered this series. Go watch the weeping angels episode (especially with almost no understanding of anything) then jump into this new stuff 😅, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll question 'how TF' (and then probly cry again). Side note: the weeping angels episode can be scary AF to some (but, it's also exceptionally well written imo, unlike this new knock-off thing with the same franchise name).
Why does the doctor smile as wide as he can when he sees a baby on a conveyer belt about to die, saying, "fascinating!" or "This is where they feast". It's like they are aiming for hedonistic psychopath.
It ended with Smith for me. Matt Smith was the last Doctor I will ever watch/rewatch. The Eleventh Doctor died of old age on Trenzalore and the universe mourns. The End (for me). Capaldi was a good Doctor with heinous writing and the worst companions. Whitiker was an insult to tv. Bringing Tennant back was a shameless attempt to bring back the audience. Gatwa will probably be the last attempt.
For me, it ended when Clara left. Capaldi's final season had some pretty odd decisions, trying to make Missy/the Master into the Doctor's BFF. I never liked the companion Bill Pott either. All she did was remind the audience, "I'm black, and I'm gay." (Nevermind that Martha or Cpt. Jack existed years prior). Moffat fumbled the ball by the end, foreshadowing things to come. Still, the final season is at least watchable. I struggled to force myself through the lone episode or two of Jodie Whittaker's era. I still honestly find it hard to believe they seriously cast a female Doctor. It sounds horribly sexist to idiots to say something like that, but it's no more ridiculous than saying a female Batman or a female James Bond is an absurd self-contradiction. If you want a female Batman...then invent Batgirl. If you want a female Doctor, they already did that ages ago, in the characters of Romana or River Song.
@@UnchainedEruption "All she did was remind the audience, "I'm black, and I'm gay."" She mentioned it like three times, dude. Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they're inherently pushing an agenda onto you. This new season, however...
They do this garbage in the name of Identity Politics. Remember, these people are added to a show so the so-called "marginalized" among us can see someone like them portrayed on the screen. Well when you focus on just 5% of the world's population, the other 95% aren't going to find a character that they can identify with. And those are the people who watch, support and merch shows like this. So, since I don't see anything or anyone on the show that I can identify with, I will take my marginalized self and watch something else. Like the classic episodes on Pluto TV or Amazon.
I'm from South America and there is no point in illegal download this show. Congratulations BBC, you have solved the piracy problem, just produce things nobody want to watch, not even free
Old lady is the new companion watching herself start her journey, isn’t she? I hope not, but if so that means any time she’s in danger we know she won’t die. Great job setting the stakes down to zero.

That Houdini remark almost assures us that they will state that various historical figures were in fact gay without a care of erasing someone's personal history
These writers/hackivists are effectively creating their own fan-fiction version of reality. See Jada Pinkett Smith's version of Cleopatra for another "no-sh*ts-given" rewriting of history. That show managed to annoy an entire country.
It’s Real Person Fanfiction, which I’ve always found disrespectful and creepy. Trying to tell a historical figure’s story as accurately as you can from the available information is great: making stuff up about them is not.
I’m gay af and this episode made even me roll my eyes multiple times. The creators don’t realize that most fans actually don’t mind the doctor being bi/gay/whatever…it’s the fact that they’re purposefully being on the nose about it ONLY to rub it in any critics face…this way they can call whoever doesn’t like it some sort of -phobe or -ist and blame them for any sort of failings the show will have with ratings. Editing to add that I was ALL FOR Ncuti when he was first announced, but his acting skills along with the writing they’ve given him has completely made me disinterested in him. Hoping in a year he finds his footing, but with Davies acting how he is now I highly doubt it.
I agree. Multiple past doctors have kept us guessing on their orientation, but I don't get why it matters so much to Russell T. Davies that we get the pronouns right.

Made my peace with the fact that this New, New Who isn't aimed at me. The 2005 version totally hit the mark with Chris E, as did David T and Matt S. I started to lose it a bit with Peter C but his excellent acting carried me through. We had our time, we will always have those episodes and i guess as the original series had to face the fact that the modern viewership has moved on, so must we. We done well though but if all this new crazy stuff doesn't work out, don't expect my good will.
This sums up exactly how I feel! Like, to the dot. This Doctor Who is made for a younger audience, (Gen Z, probably even Generation Alpha by this point) it's moving with the times and as a result it's just a different beast now. The show we loved has come to an end, but it will always be there to rewatch and will live on in us fans, audio adventures, fanfics, books etc. I have peace with how NuWho came to an end with Tennant's Doctor and Donna finding happiness, it was a fitting ending. I don't expect this New, New Doctor Who to be the same as the old stuff, therefore I still enjoyed the episode casually and don't feel the need to rage about how it's not the same anymore. It's just a different show now, and it's ok, times change!
I feel like this more and more with ALL tv these days. Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC… they all do this woke crap. Every character now has multiple different race friends. One’s an Arthur but wants to be a Martha. The others in a wheelchair. Every female character has to be a girl boss. I’ve started watching films from the 90s and early 2000s to avoid this bollocks.
@@DsRelaxingSounds Gen Z are adults. Even the youngest are probably at least teenagers. RTD's newest episodes since the 60th seem like they're aimed at small children. Gen Alpha sounds more appropriate.
My biggest issue with it was the whole point of the doctor, ever since the first episode, has been his intelligence. The point that he can always find a solution that doesn’t resort to violence to any problem. To teach kids that it doesn’t matter what situation you’re in, there’s ALWAYS a better way to resolve it than causing physical harm. That he had more humanity than the humans. (Yes, I know he’s caused deaths in the past, but never lightly and never without the weight of that decision playing a huge part) In this episode he didn’t even try to be clever when dealing with the threat, he didn’t try to reason with the goblins, he just flat out murdered the goblin king with a church thanks to his ‘magic’ gloves. Lazy writing throwing out the entire ethos of what makes The Doctor stand apart from every generic action hero. If this is what losing the weight of his guilt does, to allow him to kill without a second thought, then it sets a very dangerous precedent for the future. He literally has nothing left to lose.
Just like Grand Admiral Thrawn the Doctor is only as smart and intelligent as the person writing him. And RTD committed self lobotomy by joining the woke cult.
The Doctor gave the goblins the chance to leave when they first escaped the ship, but then the goblins went back in time and took Ruby instead so he had to take matters into his hands.
From the little I've seen he seems every bit as cringe and unwatchable as Jodie. They seem to be in contest these days to see who can cast the most wildly inappropriate performer as this character. Though that's also down to the character being rewritten out of existence and now being nothing but a meaningless title to cast the latest political appointment.
The final nail in the coffin. I thought it had a small bit of hope getting rid of Jodie, but it's now become what would have been a comedy skit on some late night TV show back in the 80's, mixed with Disney kiddie crap (the singing and dancing). Who is truly dead. Been a diehard whovian since 1979 when I was a kid here in the US. RIP for sure.
Well this is what you get for bringing Russell T Davies back. People tried to warn them that he'd make the biggest pigs ear of things he could because he's built for the message era. But everyone just had to listen to an American and an egg.
I quite liked the friend selection in the taxi… one black girl, one Indian girl, and a transsexual. I can’t imagine any taxi cab anywhere in the UK ever consisting of a such a group of individuals - it’s completely unrealistic.
To be fair, my social circle includes black, indian, middle eastern people, among others, but none of them make it a core part of their identity, theyre just my friends lol
This is the perfect analogy of post 2010 writing. Take an establish property loved by many and change literally everything that made it great for the sake of completing a diversity checklist
"Songstress" is indeed a word, but I don't think it applies in this scene. And while we're at it, Doctor Who could never teleport and, now that he's discovered this amazing new talent, he uses it to... save someone's gin and tonic.
Because if the BBC have the brass balls to run with half the stuff we are seeing, this should be no real surprise. "If you aren't even trying, why try any harder?" -Someone at the BBC, 2023.
It's strange isn't it? So many lengths to go to. Even down to the "gazingly longingly at the clearly gay guy camping it up on the dancefloor" to being delighted he got it on with Harry Houdini
He's not Dr Who, he's Captain Jack, Sarah Jane, k9 or the Doctor's Daughter. He's a shameless tie-in spin-off [though to be fair Torchwood was quite good]. He would be a great assistant, but Disney wants zaniness and spectacle, because post-MCU phenomenonn that's all Disney seems to understand. The 'once upon a time' thing is because Disney requested they do more fantasy stuff [hence goblins that .. aren't aliens because Stevan Moffat made the series peak with its mysterious fantasy aspects and Disney only understands Chinese-style off-brand copycating]. Gatwa dances in clubs like someone off their face on MDMA. Which makes sense seeing as he has extensive experience in gay clubs, and the scene was based on Russell T Davies meeting his lover in a gay club. But if this isn't grooming kids to take MDMA and party drugs, I'm not sure what is. No sober person dances like that. 'This is a kid's show now', I agree 100% but Russell T Davies has told kids not to watch, just like he's told unhappy Dr Who fans not to watch. Russell T Davies is the worst marketeer in Hollywood since 'I don't know, does anyone want me to play Ct Marvel again?' Bri Larson, and 'I deserve to be paid for every second I wear a dress' Rachel Zeglar. Apparently the scene where he's rude to an insecure police officer who's just doing their job for no reason was the only suggestion made by Disney [according to Davies], which shows you that a) Disney learned nothing from the George Floyd hysteria and resulting rioting, and b) Disney are phoning in all their intellectual property purchases because Disney in the 1990s would have found a hell of a lot wrong with this script. Madame Flood is there to be an angry racist in the way that people born in the 1970s imagine racists acted in the 1950s [which they probably weren't]. Don't question the character. Chris Chibnall did it with his time travelling one-dimensional racist greaser, and Russel T Davies tried it [and failed] one episode ago where we are supposed to hate the Toy Maker for saying 'I'm sure you're used to better weather' in a polite and friendly way. 'Everything falls at the same speed' - yeah, that's the first time I have to disagree with you. Don't believe anything you were told in GCSE science. Does a bowling ball fall at the same speed as a feather? Things often look like they fall at the same speed if you drop them from a two-story window, but everything has a terminal velocity which is different from everything else. Humans can fall faster by changing how aerodynamic they are, which you can actually watch stunt men do it good movies usually made before 2015 when CGI totally took over. That scene in GoldenEye when the stunt man catches up with the falling motorbike, that wasn't CGI. £800 to raise a child? How often? Per year, that sucks. Per month, I'll take 10 kids please. Per week, and it's time to start saving for your private island. "You look like you've lost a pound and found a sixpence" ... She's maximum 70 years old. Who would say that who's aged under 85? Does 60 year old Russell T Davies know enough about humans to understand how people essentially his own age speak? Never thought I'd ever say this but ... bring Chris Chibnall back.
@@debanydoombringer1385 Well if we really want to get super critical we could say in a vacuum and the same distance from the gravitional pull. So unless two items are of identical shape and volume and the same relative location they won't fall at the same speed. Question is what happens when the items reach the speed of light.
Oh God I feel like I know exactly where they’re going to go with the “unknown mother” plot line. She’s going to, through some magical plot contrivance, become pregnant with herself and become her own mother, thus “explaining” why her mother’s DNA never appeared anywhere (despite that not being a surprise given the time period, hell for all they know she drowned in the ocean and nobody ever found the body before this tech became normal). This lets them not only fix that issue but also make sure that it’s never implied that a man and a woman had “relations” of that nature
A good rule of thumb for any era of the show is, if you can’t imagine William Hartnell in place of X Doctor, doing what they do or saying what they said. Then The Doctor shouldn’t do or say that. Theres’s exceptions, but stray too far from Hartnell and it might be a fun character in some other show, but its not The Doctor. It was a massive problem with Jodie’s scripts and performance and it looks like Ncuit is the same again.
Not so sure about that... Hartnell wouldn't have had a moral dilemma in Genesis of the Daleks like Tom Baker, he'd have wiped them out without a second thought. But no one would question Baker being the Doctor.
Or have someone say to the Doctor "You won't do that, good men have too many rules" to which the Doctor replies "Good men don't need rules, now is not the time to ask why I have so many" I can picture any Doctor pre Jodi being able to say that line and the point getting across.
@@imperialdebauchery5988 I don't think that's true at all. Perhaps season 1 Hartnell but by season 2 he was very much "I never take life, unless my own is immediately threatened."
The problem with the BBC is the TV licence fee, while they continue to be guaranteed their £3.2 billion per year from the public's pockets they don't give two shits whether their content is worth viewing or not. Look at it this way, if your salary was guaranteed, regardless of whether you worked your butt off or just sat on your arse doing nothing, which would you choose to do? So long as the licence fee remains the BBC will just continue to pump shite out. If, however, they were forced to go commercial they would HAVE to produce content that appeals to more people because advertisers wouldn't want to waste advertising revenue on a channel that has no viewership.
I can just see RTD getting all excited at seeing DT and his new squeeze grinding themselves together and then his new squeeze coming into the his crazy world and prancing around with no pants on.

There was a way to make Old Woman, the past destruction of the goblin ship, and Blonde Clara Oswald make sense in the story: When the Doctor goes back in time, have the shadowy shape of BCO's mother look back and see the ship's destruction and the Doctor replace BCO back on the doorstep. Then, when the Doctor comes back to the future, have OW remark how she'd seen the box -- and him -- a long time ago. The Doctor's confused for a second until he figures it out: *OW is BCO's mother!* He asks why she hasn't made herself known, but OW says she's always looked out for her, but just wants BCO to have a better life than she could give her, and tells him not to tell BCO. OW looking out for her secret daughter is why she then tells BCO to go into the TARDIS and travel with the Doctor, because she knows he's a time traveler, has already saved her life once, and knows it'll be an amazing adventure for her daughter to have.
I can't be bothered to try and work all that out and whether it makes sense or not. No disrespect too you, I'm sure it works. But now we just have to fix the other three specials and all the JW episodes. Naa, I'm out. LOL
@@PeterCamberwick I've actually had an idea on how to do that for a while: Make it meta. It's a Special where you bring back Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, and Peter Capaldi, who all go to Earth to check out a strange broadcast, What's this broadcast? An in-universe _Doctor Who_ television show, created due to all the alien invasions around Xmas time making Earth's enigmatic alien protector known as "The Doctor" become famous. I doubt you'd be able to get Jodie, Chibnall, or "the fam" back, but it'd be funny to squeeze them in (you'll see how soon). Anyway, the actors on the show mistake the Doctor and Clara as former actors returning for an episode/special, but the whole thing turns out to be a kind of "love letter" from Missy, who Clara only knows as 'the lady from the shop' who gave her the number to the TARDIS. The regenerative power of time travel activates the repurposed Cybermen tech they've been using for costumes, and they go on a killing spree, destroying the sets, killing some actors/writers/showrunner, etc. (people who look suspiciously like the to-be retconned series actors). The Doctor manages to finish them off (perhaps due to Capaldi's Doctor being blasted and having to Regenerate), and Missy escapes, but the damage is done: The show can't go on anymore. Now, they won't say for sure which episodes/series get retconned out of existence due to being part of this in-universe show, so it's something they can leave up to the fans or announce later. This whole in-universe show though convinces Matt Smith's Doctor that "He's gotten too big," and that he's got to erase all knowledge of his existence, which he does, starting with records of the show.
That, actualy makes this so much better, and actualy makes sense. Initially when the woman sees the 'box' disappear and has no real reaction to it and then is subsequently just used to it, I just took the thought approach that she was old and must've thought she was seeing things, and was just like 'well yep, things are doing the thing again'. Your fix to this is far better and fits way better than that the woman is just thinks she's crazy and is aware of it.
Doctor Who is back with a Christmas special from Russell T Davies and Ncuti Gatwa. But as their ratings drop and the Doctor seems more preoccupied, we’ve somehow ended up worse than Jodie Whittaker.

This episode is pretty much the complete opposite of that.
gatwa would mince through the alien group to the tune of abbas dancing queen then camply announce "Hello, I'm The Doctor........basically, BUM".
This retelling of Labyrinth for 'modern audiences' falling so short of the original just shows how well David Bowie's musical about goblins stealing babies for the goblin king nailed it the first time around :P
Yeah, Labyrinth is a classic, this is an affront.

I never say glitter. I usually say “gayer than a handbag full of rainbows.” But then it’s usually me I’m talking about.
The correct response to finding out aliens are eating babies is to ask how to get them to stop, permanently. The characters seem to be awfully okay with it. I am surprised the doctor didn't ask for a taste.

Yup, she reacted like a real person, which is part of why the audience loves Donna so much. Ruby has no personality.
Like be real here, if she existed through the last like, 10 or so years she has to have seen a host of weirder, scarier stuff than some tiny pricks trying to eat a baby. There’s certainly complaints to be made but this feels like a real reach

@@floorruglara agreed. Blink is still the best episode of Dr Who for me

It's called a joke? That's the irony.
Honestly, at this point, I've just stopped watching the show. It ended with Capaldi. The rest of this is nothing but a fever dream.
Same.

I started to lose it a bit with Peter C but his excellent acting carried me through. We had our time, we will always have those episodes and i guess as the original series had to face the fact that the modern viewership has moved on, so must we. We done well though but if all this new crazy stuff doesn't work out, don't expect my good will.
You are giving this new doctor way too much credit.
gotta disagree with you there. new new who is terrible and deserves no sympathy
Also helps to have a vocabulary.
The Doctor gave the goblins the chance to leave when they first escaped the ship, but then the goblins went back in time and took Ruby instead so he had to take matters into his hands.

"No sober person dances like that."
You should see my uncle when his dodgy knee gives way...
No get rid of them all, my 7 year old writes better than this crap
The falling at the same rate is in a vacuum. Not in a vacuum it doesn't because of resistance with air and stuff.
@@debanydoombringer1385 Well if we really want to get super critical we could say in a vacuum and the same distance from the gravitional pull. So unless two items are of identical shape and volume and the same relative location they won't fall at the same speed. Question is what happens when the items reach the speed of light.
"A Hot Summer With Harry Houdini"? a STRAIT MARRIED MAN?
everyones gaye now. in the dr who universe houdini was an indian fellow
"I am my own grandpaaaa"
A good rule of thumb for any era of the show is, if you can’t imagine William Hartnell in place of X Doctor, doing what they do or saying what they said. Then The Doctor shouldn’t do or say that. Theres’s exceptions, but stray too far from Hartnell and it might be a fun character in some other show, but its not The Doctor. It was a massive problem with Jodie’s scripts and performance and it looks like Ncuit is the same again.
Which is why DW ended with McGann. All that stuff with Tennant falling in love with Billie Piper? Imagine William Hartnell doing it...
Not so sure about that... Hartnell wouldn't have had a moral dilemma in Genesis of the Daleks like Tom Baker, he'd have wiped them out without a second thought. But no one would question Baker being the Doctor.
Or have someone say to the Doctor "You won't do that, good men have too many rules" to which the Doctor replies "Good men don't need rules, now is not the time to ask why I have so many"
I can picture any Doctor pre Jodi being able to say that line and the point getting across.
The ONLY reason this is made, is to spit in the face of white European culture.
@@imperialdebauchery5988 I don't think that's true at all. Perhaps season 1 Hartnell but by season 2 he was very much "I never take life, unless my own is immediately threatened."
Meanwhile a RTD exiled Davros is watching from a safe distance, gurgling his Terry Molloy laugh as the Doctor is finally defeated.
Thank you Disparu for your fabulously funny mauling of the complete train-wreck this programme is.
here here. I never thought a train reck could be so much fun. I'm actually glad this thing that used to be Doctor Who is continuning, so we get to watch more reviews like this. LOL
@@PeterCamberwick Your gonna love the Dr's new sonic fart .
That cotton eye Joe quip had my audibly laughing. 😂 RIP The Doctor
Ncuti has so many creepy pause faces. It is like his natural resting creep. I wonder if the actor realizes that
Every time Gatwa burps, I get a strong whiff of Davies.
Yeah and what’s up with Davies office always smell like burning feces?
Which part of Davies, forget I said that, I've just made myself violently ill.

@@APsychicMonkeydoes Davies even have baby gravy? I thought he was a gelding.

I googled Ncuti Gatwa and your video is in his overview. That’s hilarious!
Is Gatwa supposed to sound like Papa Lazaru??
I knew it was familiar! 😂
Best episode ever! ...Disparu! Your sense of humour went up to 11, 3.05 am laughing my socks off lol, Thank you hope you had a merry Christmas
There was a way to make Old Woman, the past destruction of the goblin ship, and Blonde Clara Oswald make sense in the story:
When the Doctor goes back in time, have the shadowy shape of BCO's mother look back and see the ship's destruction and the Doctor replace BCO back on the doorstep.
Calling that tripe "fantasy" is an insult to the entire genre
Calling it pee-pee poo-poo is an insult to excrements
An insult to the concept of genre....
