As for her tender wheels being black, Molly's model counterpart in the television show had black tender wheels, just like Murdoch did; both often got several questions from parents as to why the tender wheels did not match the drive wheels' colour, until they found promotional pictures of the characters from the show and discovered the black tender wheels. Congratulations on the new addition; I've the TOMY Molly, and her motor never sounded that sluggish.
I have a TOMY Molly (not in this 2010-2013 repackaging). If my memory serves correctly, I had a lot of blue track at one point, but my parents asked me to choose between TOMY and Trackmaster. I chose brown track, but I kept all the trains from the days of the blue track system. My Molly is from the days of the blue track system. I also have TOMY Salty, Neville ( a buffer is gone off of the front), Mighty Mac (lots of paint has come off), Skarloey, and Rusty. I might have missed a few. Just thought I'd say that I do have some trains from the blue track's glory days in America.
Good video molly is a nice bright yellow engine when I got my fisher price trackmaster molly my one wasent as lound as that plus I love your track layout it's awesome well done
Hi Guys well my first effort into a Thomas video was 4.5v Gordon or Duck with reverse switch I honestly can't remember but I will check now! Thanks for watching Molly needs some more love thats for sure!
Hi I was wrong! its the Nagasaki tram running around a very basic loop on our old kitchen table! That is my first Tomy train video WOW thanks for that blast from the past.
Good video. I got a TrackMaster Molly, too. And it also doesn't have a white footplate. So I have to paint her footplate white just to make it look like in the T.V. series.
Molly's motor actually sounds more like a large MRR/TM destination. She's not a bad engine to own but I feel she featured unnecessarily in more merchandise and other things just for more money to go back to HiT, then when the show changed to CGI, she just got left out instantly and now we're seeing more of Charlie, Stanley, and Hiro etc alongside the Steam Team.
Revisiting this one. Been trying to figure out why they went with tender-drive, when loco-drive seems much easier to do. Molly's dummy body has the right size already, and rendering a 4-4-0 isn't hard, considering they'd already done Edward rather well.... I can only assume they wanted something quick and easy to put out on the shelves, and slapping a drive unit into a huge tender with a dummy engine in front seems simpler than designing a new running board and body for a second 4-4-0 loco-drive. Or perhaps there weren't plans to utilize Molly after her appearance, so they never bothered trying? Either way, perhaps this is something we the fans, and designers, customizers, can rectify in the future. I for one would still rather like a loco-drive Molly, wouldn't you?
yes the original Edwards have a very long wheel base and it gets a little stuck around corners, they tried to fix this with 2012 TM Edward and they may have but they have totally ruined the look.
lovley video the track layout is amazing when I got my fisher price trackmaster molly my one wasent as loud as the one you have well done with your track layout
Great review! I like Molly, she is a very nice and yellow engine :P, but she seems to be a little bit slow when running, have you tested the tender on its own? I'm not a big fan on tender powered engines but if they work fine then they're alright!
i think the solution to that would be a shorter wheel base. fake middle wheels but the front wheel still working...and a tamiya light dash motor...and more detail
yes I can see the need to rush more female characters to the starring roles ie- as locomotives, they should have done it properly imo, still another feather in the cap for the collection.
She is a nice engine however I do feel that the motor would be much better positioned in the locomotive and not the tender. :-)
Molly has a number 13! She is a leader of the Westerner Squad.
she never had a number
Never knew there was a version without the white-topped footplate!

Yes sorely missed indeed!

Molly is based on The Great Eastern Railway D56 Claud Hamiltons built around the early 1900's

I'm preparing to do a motor swap on this loco will video it from start to finish, its the same motor TM Hiro got 2 videos ago
i think the solution to that would be a shorter wheel base. fake middle wheels but the front wheel still working...and a tamiya light dash motor...and more detail
