I wanted a quick & easy tutorial for making a scrap catcher for my server & this worked a treat, thanks! I used Velcro to attach it to my mat & will be making another one for my sewing machine for sure 👍
A genius idea to hook it around the feet of the serger especially for people like me who have a cheap serger with no built in thread catcher. That's my project for the day sorted.
I think I'll put a coat hangar round to hold the container open, plus velcro to fix to the mat the overlocker is sitting on (I'll make a big permanent mat to protect the table). Mine is a Jaguar 489, I've only had it a week, and it's brilliant, much quieter than expected, and a doddle to thread as the whole front opens up. My machine has it's own rubbish catcher, but I'll make the pretty one to hold stuff like scissors and its accessories bag.

You always make the projects look so easy. I'm going to make a cover for both my server and sewing machine and the little catcher thingy for my snips and seam ripper because I'm always losing them. Thanks
So simple but so effective. I like the coat hanger method of catching threads for my embroidery machine. I always have lots of thread left over from colour changes. My overlocker already has a thread/cutting catcher. Another one I would love to make but haven't decided how yet is a cover for my embroidery machine. It has a boring cover which only covers the machine but not the embroidery unit. The unit is very wide so a cover like this wouldn't fit. I will have to put my thinking head on! Thank you so much.
when you figure out how to include the width of the embroidery arm for the machine cover I would love to know it! I haven't managed to do that yet. I do like the idea of the little bag for thread tails tho. Right now I am taping a small paper bag to my table end for those. Not attractive!

Lol I'm going to do the wire hanger method, since a have like a gazillion of them. Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial! Oh, and I'll also make a cover for my serger and my coverstitch machine (I can't stand those plastic covers, especially in the summer!) Lol
I really like the dust cover i want to make it for my sewing machine en serger and for my cameo silhouette and im going to make the bag to and use some buttons so i can easy remove it thank you so much (sorry my english is not so verry good im from Holland)
I'm thinking about making this for my elderly mother to use as a bed side tissue or trash container. If I can find the right fabric, it would be cute to make throw pillows, maybe a little afghan style lap quilt or dresser "table" cloth to match. I'm not sure. The ideas are twirling around in my head. Any suggestions?
I would make it like the pockets that are made to be on the side of your bed to hold a book or your glasses. etc. I would lengthen the little 2 piece cloth thingy so that it tucked between the mattress and box spring and then velcro the little bag onto that. I would also line the bag with oilcloth or water resistant fabric just in case. In the old days in the hospital we would tape a paper bag to the side rails to be a tissue hanger. I think this is a lovely idea. I'm sure she will appreciate it.
@@bitsnharry Thank you so much 💓. I will do that! I used to make those for myself back in the old days. I worked as a Deputy Sheriff and I would have to sleep with a weapon/gun and this was a safe way to do that.
Instruction is to measure and then add 1/2 inch seam allowance. So the width was 17 inches, and fabric cut to 17 1/2 inches. Aren’t there 2 seams?? Shouldn’t it have been cut to 18 inches???

No idea what the flat piece and tag were for as once you did them and set the aside, you never attached them to anything?
