Eric. That was absolutely beautiful. A VERY beautiful and moving tribute to Gordon Lightfoot. I can't even begin to fathom just how much work you had put into that. Like all the other people I also liked Gordon Lightfoot. The work you had pit into it was no easy task just from the look of relief on your face. Keep up the great work!!!!!
Thanks! Actually didn't take much work, just about an hour :) I think the relief on my face was that I'd finally gotten all the words right in one take, haha. What a great song and songwriter. Thank you for you kind comment!
Wow Eric, I have been your videos. You are great! I really appreciate your vast musical tastes and styles. Like you, I also enjoy playing classical pieces, but also love listening to this 60-80's hits. Keep playing! I hope to be able to sing and play like this one day.
So sick!!! Dude amazing, insane dynamics🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 love from 🇨🇦! your keys chops are no joke . Stunning bro that you’re playing lots of the bits and runs that are in the original recording !!! Incredible! How do i get the sheet music for this rendition?
Thank you! That means a lot! On almost all my covers I really to make an effort to imitate the specific bits and runs that made the song special for me in the first place. Some people just play the chords, but for me it's all about the special licks that give me the memorable feelings about a song. This one had so many great moments I wanted to pay tribute to.
Thank you! And yes. Practically all the piano covers on my channel have been arranged by me in some small way or other (mainly by adding some little embellishments, or filling out the bass so it's not empty sounding). None are written out. Basically, as I play, I'm trying to capture the sounds of the other instruments from the original recordings. Glad you appreciated it!
@@wyattcatlin4710 Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! Feel free to share. I created it as a library for all the songs I'd learned. I tend to forget them after I post them - it's hard to keep them all in my head. So, it's fun to go back in time and see the way I played some song years ago. To answer your question: I didn't go to college for music. I took private classical lessons for 10 years and then went to college, where I started playing for church choirs, and joined my friends' classic rock cover band (there's also footage from my college days of us on this channel ha). My old classical piano chops helped me embellish simpler pop songs with cool fills and licks, so I could accompany myself while singing.
You are fantastic!! A +++!!
Thank you!
Moonraker!! Moonraker!! 😊
RIP. He was one of my favourites. A fitting tribute, Eric.
Thanks! He was a great songwriter.
