@@brettj.m.roebuck17 No you do not, just park at the first parking lot. The 2nd parking lot at the end of the gravel road I believe is for registered hunters.
We only saw elk at the very beginning in the open meadow by the parking lot but we didn't see any while on the trail. There are some open meadows with streams on the third day going from bowen lake back to the car that looked like a good spot to see some elk and moose.
hey! planning on doing this loop in a few weeks, do you mind giving me your detailed itinerary....how many miles/day and where you stayed? did you go clockwise or counter clockwise? thanks so much! loved your video, and definitely made me super excited!
We started on a friday at 7 am and took the baker gulch trail after hiking the gravel road from the trail head. We did the loop going counterclockwise. Going clockwise has alot more strenuous uphill. We hiked 6.5 miles to parika lake and camped there for the night above treeline since we were going to have great weather. Saturday morning we hiked another 6.5 miles to bowen lake and camped there for the night. There are quite a few campsites in the woods next to bowen lake. Sunday morning we hiked about 8 miles back to the trailhead. Pretty much most of that last day is downhill. The trail is very easy to follow but we still used the All Trails app to follow their route and track ours, we did loose the trail just for a little bit and used the app to find it again. Let me know If you have any other questions.
@@samanthatoal4946 thank you! You don't need any permits for camping or for parking in this area. I made sure to call ranger offices and asked them if we did. We even camped next to a ranger, she was staying at parika lake for a couple of nights just to make sure everyone was following camping rules up there.
This is awesome! Thanks for the cool video
Nice. I plan to be there myself in May.
That's awesome! I really liked this loop. Are you planning on staying at parika and bowen lake?
@@noviewleftbehind1575 That's my plan. I did have a question though; did you have to have a parking permit to park overnight in the lot?

@@noviewleftbehind1575 Thanks for the info!
@@brettj.m.roebuck17 no problem! If you care to share let me know how it goes and what you thought of that loop. Have fun!
Did you see any elk?

Nice footage!
Thanks Bob! There is alot of things that I will do differently on our next trip that's for sure. I learned alot about how to film on this first trip.
