I have to say I was very excited to get my Liberty 43 approx 2 or 3 years ago. I purchased from a retailer in NH. The lady was nice enough to meet me 20 min from my home while going to visit family in VA. Got a very good deal and bought the scarifier with it and she threw in 2 x 4ah batteries and charger. I believe it was around $2500 give or take. I then found the verticutter,brush and 10 blade for a major discount from a retailer out in Florida. I love the verticut, brush and scarifier the most. The cut quality is good however the machine tends to float on very dense turf and slides with little slope in lawn. The machine is also not equally balanced and tends to cut lower on one side very noticeable when cutting at 1/2". Tried adding a dumbell but it a pain. After a full season the belts started stretching and drive system wire it all messed up. My drive system doesn't really work anymore as belt is adjusted as far as possible. Pulleys are also getting wobbly and worn. I basically just push it who h is t to bad for my size lawn. Although I only have 1/3 the money invested in comparison to the Ego powered one I must say I'm very disappointed with Allett. The machine is falling apart so quickly and Iim in need of new Pulleys, drive cable and belts which I don't know of an easy way to get. I actually like the greenwork batteries and haven't had a single issue. My Ego batteries are all starting to fail some sooner than others. I think they made a mistake going with Ego. I can't see Allett justifying the double price on new mover and accessories. In my opinion they are taking full advantage of the US. I specifically remember them saying in a live demo that Americans have money. Could not believe they actually said that. If I ever decide to change brands I will most likely have to go with the reel rollers....revolution I believe it's called. Great video and your lawn looks great. Allett is nice however it is not worth the money they. charge here in the States.
I totally agree. I have the Liberty 43. I am so disappointed with this plastic toy. The are so cheaply made, but they charge a premium price. The new Cobra brand looks much better with quality and price I was sucked in by the interchangeable cartridges. They are crap. I have since bought a separate machine to scarify and verticut. I would never recommend anyone buying an Allett. I could have bought 2 better machines for the same price as the Liberty
Good job on comparing the two reels. Up here in Canada, I purchased my Kensington 20B in 2022. I love it and would not trade it for anything else. Keep up on the videos.
When I bought my Kensington 20B I also bought the groove roller and the scarifier cartridge, those are the two basics that is a must have. Now I’m looking into buying the brush cartridge. During the hot summer days when the lawn, don’t need to be cut but want to stripe, the brush will come in handy. The cartridges are not cheap but they are worth the money 💰.

The Swardman Electra in this video isn't the current 2.0 model which fixes some of the points you made (like side touching the grass). The model in this video is on fire sale until supplies last and then is no longer available for purchase.
Yes the new model came out after I made this video. This is good news that they fixed the issues. Regardless, the swardman can give you what you need at half the price! I love my swardman

It stripes like a beast as well. I had a gm1000 it was pretty quiet but it didn't stripe like these. Allett is not worth the price. Maybe in the uk but the cost here is crazy. I would go for a gm or buy my swardman🤣
A brilliant review and very enjoyable to watch and hear your experience of both machines,many thanks for the time and effort you put into this video,i have a rotary mower with a roller on the back,its the stihl rm655 rs which lays a good stripe but i do want to get a reel mower for the better cut quality and superior striping,in Ireland that allett stirling is €4,500 which is still very expensive but not as bad as $7000,i guess it costs a lot more to ship into the USA,some of the ego products are much more expensive to buy here in Ireland than the USA i guess for the same reasons,its so much money to pay for a walk behind mower either way its crazy but then we love to cut grass and ultimately these machines make it more enjoyable 👍

One thing to note is that the battery between the allett and Swardman are significantly different!! You may get 30-40 minutes to mow your yard with the 5.0 Ah battery. It’s pretty hard to burn in your stripes in that time. I ordered the Swardman Electra 2.0 which will be here in approximately two weeks and it addressed all of the issues you listed. Swardman raised the side cover, it now has a fabric mesh basket, and the battery can mow up to 18,300 sqft and that’s on the highest speed settings. Also they lowered the price of the original Electra significantly and now the Electra 2.0 costs the same now as what the original Electra did which is still significantly cheaper than Allett. I think it’s pretty hard to justify the Allett price point giving that Swardman addressed the issues that you mentioned and still kept the price point the same. Last thing, I own several Ego products (lawn mower, trimmer, edger, leaf blower, snow blower, 4 batteries). I would interested to see how many batteries get used when you use the Allett to mow, then edge, trim with the string trimmer, then the leaf blower to clear off the side walks.
100% that is good news they addressed everything. I mow more with my electra over the allett. I never have to charge it and it is so dang quiet. I love it! You will love yours
LIberty 43 could not maintain Hybrid Bermuda, considering the Sterling 51 as it has higher power. Have concerns about US Allett Customer support. What's your experience?
@jlu72665 the Stirling-51 had the power for sure. They will be having a new location in the states. Sounds like they are out with the bad and in with the good. I don't know if it's my place to reveal the location but we will be safe in the states
If you’re worried about how pretty the reel is then buy a can of red spray paint and touch it up. It would take like 30 minutes to make it look brand new again.
This video definitely helped me narrow down my choices between the Allett and Swardman! Now I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the newer Swardman Electra 2.0 model. The Neighbor Dominator mentioned it fixes some of the concerns raised in the video, but is it worth the price difference compared to the older model on sale?
I've had the Allett Liberty 43 for about 4 years. I like it in general but there are many problems with it. It feels like a toy and it get banged up easily. Needs more power. The reels chip off easily. Many other issues. For $2500 it should have been better. The Stirling is like double the cost.

Back in my day you could get an Allett for $3K and they’d throw in the scarifier, and wave the shipping. Times they are a changin!
