    Even though very long winded, EXCELLENT VIDEO. Short of the profanity....I put it on 2x speed and it is perfect. Thanks!

    and finally a T case story. my 02 TJ had 240,000 miles on it's original oil. i drained it and it had a faint cloudiness of metal in it. added Mobil one full synthetic atf 4 and no problems.

    I got my 6 pinion planetary from an '00 1 ton chevy with the 241, and the wide chain and sprockets came from a V8 durango with the 231D HD. Best part about it was that the guy at pick N pull didn't know what it was so he charged me $40 for the lot of it.

      @@moejr14 spreads out the load on the planetary gear set and the wider chain/sprocket is stronger (1/4" wider)

    When using a transmission jack I've found that an old sheet of rubber or something kinda sticky like that works well to keep the transmission or the transfer case in place. Metal on metal is crap for friction in this case no pun intended.

    I read this on Novak's website: "ATF is the factory recommended fluid, however many individuals have chosen to run a straight 30 weight oil or 5W30 in a mineral or synthetic. Our experiences with these and those reported to us by our customers indicate positive results in noise reduction and wear resistance."
    I started using 5w30 about 3 years ago. I'll be the wide chain setup and SYE soon and I'll look for anything abnormal but I didn't have it apart before I changed to the motor oil.

    The aw4 defiantly takes dex/merc but the t case it's safe to use atf+4. I actually did use the +4 for the t case intentionally because it's a full synthetic fluid. It's just bearings and a planetary set, no clutches to be harmed.

  • @kelbybraggs2843

    So now that you have the beefier components in the transfer case does that give you lower gears in the T case?

    • @NickInTimeFilms
      @NickInTimeFilms  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope, this is strictly about more meat on the components. Doesn't change any ratios or functions of the tcase

    t case install tip. hold it so case is vertical. slide it is just a bit to get the shaft on.ALMOST to the point where the studs touch. then rotate the case clockwise up and then slide it the rest of the way in. this way, you only need to grunt it in by hand to get the shafts to meet, and stay out from under that fucker it will kill you. if you sit under and head in the trans tunnel looking forward. have the front shaft yoke between your legs and lift it up and slide it in. and rotate it.

    All this work you do and you’ve yet to get the other version transmission jack from harbor freight lol. They make a full v base version that is 1000X more stable and you don’t even need a chain.. the front and back of the top has tnuts so you can actually adjust tilt on the fly as needed.. that one I see you always using is a POS. Prob cost more to the other version you can use an impact to lift like a regulars scissor jack and last I looked I think they sell for like $59 lol. The rollers are shit but the jack is much better and easier to use and adjust on the fly.
