Twelve players from this draft ended up playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Michael Redd was definitely the best in this draft and my personal favorite in the 00’s him and Desmond Mason were a dynamic duo.
I would say Redd or Martin was the best.
Redd’s production was definitely better and he had an All-NBA selection, but at his most impactful, Martin was one of the best players on a more successful team than Redd was ever a part of.
I could see either one being considered the best.

because this isn't an actually underwhelming draft class. The draft classes in 2010's were much worst than this. Even the draft class 2023 looks like one of the worst ones out there. When injuries are part of every draft class, it's not that easy to point out the worst one

2023 has Wemby, JJJ, Podz, Brandon Miller, Lively & multiple other guys that have looked good.
The class has half a season under their belt, so it's far too early to make assumptions like that.
Jamal Crawford had the best longevity of this class. He almost has 20,000 career points in the regular season, and if you include the playoffs, he has over 20,000 career points scored. He also leads his entire draft class in career points scored. That's remarkable for a majority bench player.

It’s easy to be mid for a long time though. If you aren’t doing much in the game you have no reason to get injured. Michael redd has dropped a bunch of super high scoring games. His career wasn’t even that short either lmao. Sidenote: why and how did the bucks end up picking up so many players of the 2000 draft class?
Joel Pryzbilla The Great White Gorilla - that was his nickname. I remember most of these guys and their careers, but as a blazers fan, of course I remember Joel the best. Painfully underappreciated player. Very impactful on and off the court. Class act. Always will be a fan of his.

You forgot about Hanno Möttölä who was the 40th overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft and was selected by the Atlanta Hawks.
In his youth Möttölä played for Helsinki NMKY (originally run by the Finnish version of the YMCA founded in 1929, not kidding). Möttölä played College Ball in Utah from 1996 all the way to 2000.
Möttölä played two full seasons for the Hawks totaling 4.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG and 0.2 PPG in 154 Games Played.
After his NBA years Möttölä played EuroLeague in Spain, Italy, Lithuania, EuroCup in Russia and again EuroLeague in Greece before retiring from pro basketball in 2008. Möttölä did play couple of games for II. Divisioona (2nd. Division) amateur team FC Passe and after that he made a comeback with ToPo in the Finnish Basketball League and played for the Finnish National Team before retiring for good in 2013.
Before Lauri Markkanen there was Hanno Möttölä.

Bro Kenyon played for 15 yrs, was a huge reason why New Jersey went to two NBA finals. Hego was a huge reason the Magic went to the finals. Jamal Crawford was a problem, played 20 yrs and one of the greatest bucket getters ever. Michael Redd had injuries but when on the court, 20 plus easy. Mike Miller pretty won the Heat a chip against OkC in game 5. Deshawn Stevenson was a lock down guard and was important in beating and the heat. Q Richardson was one of most reliable 3 point shooters in the league. 2000 had some hitters

before 2000 there are a lot early entry and high school players were drafted in 1997, 1998 and 1999. imagine players like tracy mcgrady, al harrington or rashard lewis going to college for 2 or 3 years and come out in 2000. also if lamar odom, corey maggette and shawn marion stay in college for one more year and draft in 2000

Very interesting Persperctive. But maybe the people drafting and running the teams during that time didn't know what they were doing which can also lead to players not having success ( Some Teams stockpile talent but suck at putting an actually good winning team together.)

No. There just wasn’t much worthwhile talent in this class. Kenyon Martin was a 4 year college player with a broken leg and still went #1 without any second guessing. Which means there weren’t any standout prospects from high school or college underclassmen.
I did not know fif was related to kmart. Though I never knew his name until now.
He used to pick me up on his teams at run n shoot (R.I.P.) when i was a youngin back in the day (at least until real competition showed up). Throwing lobs was so fun, and made me feel like an actual PG.

Top three of this draft for sure is Jamal Crawford, Michael Redd (Who if not for injuries would be Number 1 of this draft, no question) and Mike Miller, honorable mention to Kenyon Martin and Hedo.

I know in the NFL Tom Brady was drafted in the same year in 2000. Imagine an NBA version of this player. White, old (23 or 24 as a rookie), average speed and size as a guard but went undrafted, no tats, choose to play for the clippers, won 7-9 rings, 6-7 time finals MVP, played like Nash, Kidd, Steph, Stockton. Hit 2-3 GW shots in game 7’s of NBA finals. Single handidly made the clippers a top 3 franchise ever. All time leading scorer and assist guy but never dunked or blocked a shot in a game. He would have been in his last year currently in the NBA in year 24 at the age of 46 or retired last year and would be considered 1 or 2 all time between him and MJ.
Imagine a guy like that being undrafted in 2000 in one of the worst drafts ever!!!

Do you know what you didn't mention about Chris Porter was he was our starter for over 1/3 the season. And there's something nobody outside of the Bay would know: fans absolutely EMBRACED him. The 2000 draft was a shit show, but with Porter, it felt like a first round guy had fallen into our laps. But then you heard he wasn't a model guy off the court, and it was like "there's ALWAYS a catch" with the Warriors. And there was. We traded him because he felt after starting 30+ games that he didn't need to come the summer camp, so the Dubs traded him the Hornets. He missed flights to Charlotte so they waived him out of spite. People who didn't see him play would be like "eh, another second round flame-out." No, he had the stuff, talent wise. He could have been a contributor for a decade in the NBA and probably been one of those guys who made a single or pair of all-star games. He had a fan favorite vibe about him because he would fly down the court like a bat out of hell. The fans in the Bay LOVED him, but he didn't have the right head for the NBA. Or life, apparently. The SA charges are disgusting.
Thankfully, the Warriors wouldn't ever have a problem with a second round pick ever again. Not in 2001. No sir. We didn't draft a generational player and then lose him in a way so heartbreaking the NBA had to change the rules for how you could re-sign 2nd rounders. 😭
Oh I wasn't disputing he wasn't a flame-out. Just that he was an atypical flame out. Unlike most, he actually had the talent to not only last, but be a desirable player. It's a crying shame, really. There's something about squandered talent that hurts. @@AmiriHipHop

For people who don't know.. DerMar Johnson was a problem. This was a 6'9 dude with handles and crazy length who could defend any spot on the floor. He really could have been one of the greats.

Mike Miller was a really good baller and a certified shooter from deep ,he had a very solid career.No flash but effective .This is what bugs me with the hype .People are always waiting for insane highlights ,star system and so on whereas basketball is also about skills and strategy.Jamal Crawford was awesome .But many underwhelming players like Chris Mihm who was a very mundane center.Jerome Moiso had the talent and the potential to be a really good NBA player.He originated from our INSEP (french elite training for gifted young athletes )but it seems to me he lacked motivation.

Jason Collier was a friend of mine. Kinda ahead of his time as a big man who could shoot (but I dont think he was physical enough for today's game).
He was never a star, was never going to be a star, but they *loved* him in Atlanta - which just goes to show what a great guy he was. He died on my wedding day (which was *October* 15, 2005 by the way). Hilarious and kind dude. I miss him.
Also I lived in Milwaukee in 2000, and you can imagine the rollercoaster thinking my bud was coming to town, then just a few minutes later pissed off that he got traded to Houston for Przybilla (come on, you're just swapping one 7 footer for another).

I don’t know about all years (1973 was really bad) but 2000 was the worst in my lifetime. The distinction for this class is the arguably best player here is the all time leader in losses. Something poetic about that.

Star-wise, 2000 it wasn't a good draft. But this draft produced a lot of valuable role-players. 2006 is worse than this draft.
Absolutely not This draft only produced three one time All-Stars '06 has several. And way more recognizable players 06's disappointing but not flat out bad like this one or 2013.
I'm going to have to agree with the other guy in this comment, there were definitely role players in this draft but they weren't top role players

i agree with@@LockdownK and the first guy. 2000 had a lot of okay role players. most drafts have a few good ones and a few stars. but this was a better draft for those outside the lottery
There were a few one off all stars but no player from the 2000 class made an all defensive team. Michael Redd made all NBA third team once and that was it. A handful of this class made decent role players and 6th men. Most of the class was so bad it made the league worse for a few years.
Fizer was a huge disappointment. Tinsley,his ISU teammate turned out better.
