what about rolling a thin layer of gum paste around the dowel, let it dry and then take the dowel out after you insert one end in and carefully push the other end in? Side note: This post took me a minute to do only because I saw a 'period' between "about and Rolling" and kept back spacing to get rid of it until I realized it was a black speck on my screen. Don't judge. I need cake and coffee. hahaha

what about rolling a thin layer of gum paste around the dowel, let it dry and then take the dowel out after you insert one end in and carefully push the other end in?
