I admit I never heard this guy, until today when someone was talking to me about basketball today, and mentioned David Thompson, I said I've got to go check out some highlights, I'm glad I did. Wow

He scored 73 points in one game. He doesn't get the respect he deserves.

I grew up in Denver and watched the Nuggets in the 70's/80's during the DT years. He had an explosive first step and went he went up he was above everyone else. Quick and incredible vertical. I saw a game where he went up for a jump shot and was way over the center (who had jumped too) for an easy 2. Him, Dan Issel, Bobby Jones, Mack Calvin, Byron Beck were fun to watch in the ABA and NBA.

@@calkelpdiver I had a poster of him on my wall doing the Skywalker dunk. MJ copied that dunk in college and in the NBA. Coolest dunk ever. DT was awesome

NC guy here. U need to remember. The Sky Walker, was only 6'4"/6'5". When l was a kid and started playin, It was David and Pete. MJ came in 82. You really need to look close at his shots and movements. Greatness......

Missing one he did against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden when he left the floor somewhere around the free throw line circa 1977

If you looked closely, Shywalker Dunked on Doc twice. Took that quick 1st step to hoke and yoked on him. Then he caught an Ally Oop dunk on the Doctor. Also, the Great defensive player, his ex Nuggets teammate, Bobby Jones on a facial. Yup, iI got him #8 in top 10 All Time.

They say he could touch the top of the back board. No one ever talks about how he made them take dunking out of college basketball. When he left college they put it back in. The first SKYWALKER 😂

David was a bad dude. He didn't hesitate. No matter the height of the tree. Thompson was throwing down the AXE, AND the TREEs WOULD BE FALLING. There you go! Excuse me.

That is the definition of explosive on a hoop court. How tall was he? Did he have big hands? Nasty...

Both were a few inches taller than David.😢
