Thank you for mentioning what were the real issues with the last races with Franco, because it was the same that happened to Alex and he isnnot a bad driver, it's just that Franco did amazing when Williams had a good car inhe season and given that he only stepped on. F1 car enough to get the Kms for his license, which compered to other rookies and reserve drivers was amazing given the very little prep he had for F1. Hopefully in the races he is as s reserve driver he will get all thr kms with the old F1 Alpine cars.
Tbf though, there was many factors going on there. I mean Max was a generational talent that other teams for example Mercedes wanted heavily, it was also a long time ago etc etc. There's alot of factors that makes them imo not really possible to compare
Comparing Franco to Max is ridiculous. at least for now, plus paying 20 million to sign a rookie driver is too much of a risk. If Franco were free, it would be a very good option, zero economic risk and if it works, you win a good driver and good sponsorships.
As an Aussie, I really want to see JD do well. Not just for his sake, but to see the son of a legend, tightly connected to the Schumacher family and young Mick's failed attempt (Mick is named after Jack's father. Michael and Mick Doohan were very close), make a genuine run at a title...Fathers dream about this stuff. However, if Franco is faster there would be no questions, only encouragement for the young bull to go on and make something of it.

It's interesting to me how this came as a surprise to many. For the ones that followed Franco's career and youtube commentators in Spanish (shout-out to Sportmaniaticos) we knew this was on the works and were looking for the final outcome of those negotiations. The two tentative dates given at the beginning were Dec 10 and Dec 20. Then we heard it would be on Jan 10.
You are some kind of talisman. The minute I finished watching your video, the media exploted with the confirmation of Franco going to Alpine. 🎉 yeiiii!
If anything Briatore taking a punt on Colapinto may show there's more to the guy than what many calling him Crashpinto nowdays may like to admit. Although if people like Stroll or Tsnuoda weren't holding seats with no future Doohan and Colapinto could co-exist in F1. Sad that talent is still being wasted or not given a proper chance 😢
I popped onto the f2 website yesterday to see where Paul Aron was racing in 2025, and noted his absence from the grid. After further digging, I discovered that he will be an Alpine reserve driver in 2025! I consider this good news because he was super consistent pretty much all season.
As an Aussie and a Cola Pint-oh fan i really want them both to succeed but i want doohan to have at least a season to prove himself and i feel like he wont get that
Can I be honest? I wish he would have stayed with Williams. I think James has treated him with respect and dare I say, love! I hope there's a return clause. He fit that team really well. I know Colapinto had a couple of wrecks, and hell, we made fun of Sargent for that, but as much as I actually like the guy: The one who caused the most monetary damage was Albon. Honestly, unless Doohan performs some miracles, I can't imagine we won't see Franco in by Miami. You can't blame any of these F1 teams. Franco was an unproven unknown, but now that's changed.
You called most of it, but one thing not: MercadoLibre and Globant dropping their Williams sponsorships is the least surprising fact, given that they're both Argentinian companies and hopped in after Franco joined F1. It was only natural that they would follow him wherever.
As an Argentine I consider that Franco, besides his great potential, he has a lot of sponsors behind. Therefore, I consider he will have the 2nd seat secured despite Doohan's performance..
He's also very charismatic and the talk of the town! I actually clicked on some Williams TH-cam videos just because I wanted to see him and Albon interact. I think Alpine want to rebrand and renew in a big way.
Thing is doohan will not impress like colapinto, the luck colapinto had was unseen and he took it well...he had 0 hype,0 expectations and an upgraded car fresh from the sim for his first 3 races...he got in the best time and just drove decently + argentinians are so passionate they make it look like hes the next senna
I hope Williams has a deal with Alpine about Colapinto's status, meaning that he'll come back to them if a seat is free or drive for them if Sainz or Albon gets sick. I see him back at Williams long term, as they probably have his best interests at heart more truly than Alpine, but I see how it's better for his career and Alpine's rebrand if he goes to them for a while now. Franco gets to stick around on the grid and collect more experience, Williams gets money from their deal, Alpine gets new sponsors and new media attention, and the sponsors get lots of good PR. *It's basically a win for everyone but Doohan* 💀 *_Either way I'm excited about this season!_*

hmmm with Ryo now confirmed this is either fake news and not happening or that means Doohan with be booted fully because in what world does having Colapinto, Ryo AND Aron / Doohan, Ryo AND Aron make any sense? 3 of your own T&R is nuts
Argentinian here. Ofc Flavio's move was a masterclass, but I'm not entirely happy from Franco's side. I mean, there are absolutely no guarantees that Doohan won't perform, and if he does he will be stuck on the same role that he was bound to on Williams, but on a team that won't really care for him - and will dump him in the blink of an eye if Flavio's whims say so - instead; In contrast to Williams, where he would've learned a lot from Carlos especially, and had stability within the team, and maybe consider appealing to Cadillac for '26. I think he should've waited a little bit longer. But oh well, alea jacta est.
Briatore came to Alpine to give value to the team so that they can sell it later and earn more, he needs 2 drivers with a future, money from sponsors, and to reduce expenses.
Argentine companies behave like Mexican companies following Checo. If their driver does not have a seat they are not staying around. They will put the money wherever Franco goes and that's a bonus for him as he comes with heavy pockets to any team willing to offer a seat. Alpine could really use the money as they recently lost a few sponsors? Franco's move to Alpine has been in the works for a while now. For those following the story, we knew that at some point during the 2025 season, he would be sitting in a car again. We didn't really know when yet, and by the way this is unfolding, it's not clear if Alpine will be waving Doohan goodbye or if he'll be driving for a couple of races with eyes over his shoulders. F1 is ruthless, and midtier teams may not be willing to wait for a new driver to perform. If they are good, they should show it from day one. The announcement is supposed to happen 1/10/25. Well just have to wait and see.
I am not sure why so many people are so upset that a driver, ***in Formula 1***, is having a lot of pressure applied. The "Pinnacle of Motorsport" is not the place for kid gloves. And if you perform for Flavio Briatore, you will have a great career. And if you don't make it with Alpine, sure the other teams will give you a long, good look to join them, unless you are simply not that impressive. Yo Law! I tell you, Argentinians will give you all the support you need, as long as you enable a second audio channel in spanish!! 🤭. Cheers from Buenos Aires mate, have a good go of it!
What puzzles me is that fact that Franco will be in the bench there too.. Why would Briatore spend around 20 million on just a reserve/test pilot? I mean you can get them for free from the academy lol. Unless there's really bad news for Doohan coming up soon. 🤔
No one pays millions for a reserve driver. So I don't think he will be reserve for too long. Rumors say that Doohan is short on sponsor money. Ironic that an argentinean has more sponsor money in F1 than someone from another country.
1:08 No matter if he was a Williams or an Alpine reserve driver, Colapinto is not elegible to return to F2 as he has raced in F1 more than the 5 times the F2 regulations allow. 1:51 Gabriele Minì, Victor Martins, Academy stars? KUSH MAINI, really!? Why don't you put Sophia Flörsch into the equation too?!
Wrong, there are no longer any restrictions on F1 drivers returning to F2. The regulation was that you could not return to F2 if you had completed a full season in F1, but as of (2019?) the only restriction is that the F2 champion cannot compete in F2 for the next two years
I would personally suggest to back away from Argentina media outlets, specially Olé which has lost the little respect and debatable reliability towards informing about sports in general for the past 15 years. There is hype, seeing what happened a couple of months ago, when every sport journalist here and their mother were assuring that he had a seat at Red Bull, that he already signed a contract with them. And after Liam's and Hadjar's official announcement then they tried justifying themselves by saying that it happened before Las Vegas, that it "actually" was a pre-contract with some stipulations, yadah yadah yadah. To top it all of none of them really took responsibility for misinforming the public and unnecessarily creating false hopes just to be "el mas poronga" (which translates to "having the biggest d***") for having an "exclusive".
Red Bull and his managers were definitely in deep talks. Then if you recall there was all the pitlane talk about a "dust-up " between Franco's managers and Horner. Horner even made some remarks about his managers. At the time people said horner thought his manager's contract demands were "unrealistic". Things were obviously far along before it all broke down.
Crashes were part of the F1 spectacle once upon the time when Marlboro, Camel , Rhotmans where a thing. Closer images where on focus on the tube television when those crashes happen. No mobile phones or media were in those times neither woke nonsense.
I still think Doohan will race the whole year Only rookie off the top of my head that was sacked mid season was Nick De Viers but Briatore would be that typa guy
I adore Franco but Doohan deserves a fair chance. If anything I think Franco would do great sitting out a year and taking that Cadillac seat alongside Colton Herta. He might not be as popular as someone like Checo is over here in the states but it would still be a pan-American lineup, and he has plenty of room to grow.
This is just my opinion but late December into January would be a good opportunity to dig into some other sides of F1 instead of doing this ladder stuff daily even when the season is off. For example: Cover some old F1 games that maybe some people have forgotten about and stream your gameplay of some of them, tell us what you think of them etc, that would be a lot of fun as there was loads of F1 games throughout the 90's on many consoles and a few on PC, one which you mentioned several videos ago. If you are worried about more time constraints if this would need more editing time, see if there any any editors that could do that side for you then upload it? Maybe do a mini documentary/commentary on some of the darker moments of F1 that maybe F1 themselves want fans to be kept forgotten about. I know certainly a few of them lol. Like the Williams and Bin Laden link for one! I just feel like now and then with some of your daily stuff you can risk just repeating the same topics but worded in a different manor just to meet your once per day upload. Take a risk and give it a go!

I can't get over how much this kid resembles Senna.
You have been probably been saying this for the past 6 months...time to let go, fam.
@BillTrinensTongue 6 is a stretch, pal. But fact is he does.
@@BillTrinensTongue let go of what, the kid has that resemblance
@@rudfil dude...whatever makes you happy
Yo Law! I tell you, Argentinians will give you all the support you need, as long as you enable a second audio channel in spanish!! 🤭. Cheers from Buenos Aires mate, have a good go of it!
I highly doubt Gasly is safe either - we could very well see both drivers replaced.
Gasly driving was superb in the last few races with the upgrades
Wow it just happened while i was watching this video yh imma drop a like
Me too😂
What puzzles me is that fact that Franco will be in the bench there too..
Respeto, por favor. Argentina tiene lo suyo ❤@@FMAlchemist2006
Personally believe Doohan will get dropped for Colapinto, and if he fails to perform(something i dont believe will happen) Aron will get the seat.
@ mate i’m really sorry but i don’t understand the language you’re speaking
I was just watching and got the message! 😂😂
8:25 saw this part of the vid coming the second I saw the ryo announcement 🤣
Franco is a star, the others rookies are just mediocre. GO FRANCO !!
Formula 1 is the ultimate sink or swim sport. No matter the politics, if Doohan performs brilliantly he's untouchable.
Technically Alonso was lent to Minardi by Renault It's generally regarded that he outdrove the car that year.
Vamosssssss Franquito! 🥰
Dang it just got announced no foam of doubt on this lol
Say what you want about Briatore but he has a golden touch when it comes to running an F1 team, and make no mistke he IS running Alpine.
Jack better shape up or he will be shipped out 😮
1:08 No matter if he was a Williams or an Alpine reserve driver, Colapinto is not elegible to return to F2 as he has raced in F1 more than the 5 times the F2 regulations allow.
1:51 Gabriele Minì, Victor Martins, Academy stars? KUSH MAINI, really!? Why don't you put Sophia Flörsch into the equation too?!
Wrong, there are no longer any restrictions on F1 drivers returning to F2. The regulation was that you could not return to F2 if you had completed a full season in F1, but as of (2019?) the only restriction is that the F2 champion cannot compete in F2 for the next two years
Murphy’s law as I’m watching this Franco gets announced as their test and reserve driver..
Is there anything Doohan can actually do? What will they do if he somehow matches Gasly or comes close? Franco will be in the same position
Bring a $30M sponsor package to the table.
I see. Noted for future videos. That being said, Briatore has said talks were happening. That was at least confirmed.
@LawVS Yeah that I CAN believe, seeing his track record. I wanted to give you a heads up just in case
Well, something indeed happened
Red Bull and his managers were definitely in deep talks.
Then if you recall there was all the pitlane talk about a "dust-up " between Franco's managers and Horner.
Horner even made some remarks about his managers.
At the time people said horner thought his manager's contract demands were "unrealistic".
Things were obviously far along before it all broke down.
Briatore okay rookie becomes world champion (Schumacher, Alonso, Colapinto?)
Lol apparently mentioning a certain French device used some decades ago isn’t allowed here on the tube.
As I said one way to put pressure in a rookie.
Crashes were part of the F1 spectacle once upon the time when Marlboro, Camel , Rhotmans where a thing. Closer images where on focus on the tube television when those crashes happen. No mobile phones or media were in those times neither woke nonsense.
I still think Doohan will race the whole year
Only rookie off the top of my head that was sacked mid season was Nick De Viers
but Briatore would be that typa guy
He has only 6 firm races on his contract. Used 1 already
Cadillac need an experienced F1 driver in their team, to help with car development.
bang on with Doohan being the temporary seat holder for Franco. Jack will not fare well.
IT HAPPENED WHILE WATCHING THE VIDEO LAW!!!!!
Alpine just confirmed Colapinto as their reserve driver!!!!!
Wow you had the video out just a couple hours before it got announced.
Argentinian here for some Franco news 😁🖐️ after months of speculation and fake news Im here for whatever this is lol
Pierre Gasly and Alpine gifting the nosecone and front wing off Gasly's car to Jeremy Clarkson after the Brazilian GP.
Ocon - "I could have used it."
