He was thrown in there without any real meticulous planning or proper preparation. He still managed to do something. He knew he had X number of races to prove something and he did. Doohan has X number of races to prove something and he must. Only Doohan can stop Colapinto.

      The best of the best only really counts for half of the sport at most, the majority of teams and players are there to give the best something to play against.

      OK, but a thousand drivers deserved to there over Lance, even though we all (including Drugovich, when he signed in '22) knew that was not going to happen. There is a reason why AM has never signed an exciting prospect to their development program and that is because all of the exciting prospects sign with, literally, any other team since they knew that neither Fernando or Lance were going anywhere (although, with increasing corporate investment in AM, that may be changing).
      "... i don't actually think that Drugovich is really amongst the top best 20 drivers around right now"

Colapinto grabbed a cursed looking opportunity to drive a few races and destroy his ability to go back to F2. It looked like a suicide move, but he took it and impressed and now he's being talked about in relation to several f1 seats and seems to be at or near the top of every teams "if we need a driver" list. If Doohan can take those 4/5 races and make the most of it, keep it out of the wall, show he has the pace to keep up with comparable cars, and maybe score a point or two if the car is up to it, he can look forward to being the new flavour of the month. Ajaajjajaja!!! And you will continue to see us down here XDD! This was an excelent video, since covered all positions and analized what it's mainly the nature of F1: a business. In that sense, Franco it's a more interesting option for Alpine in terms of hability and commercial perspective. I will not say that I feel sorry for the australian driver, because as you highlight it's the wrong thing to do. If he's good he will remain on the market for another chance, like the youngest Schumacher do and people should take that in to consideration when talking in social media. This isn't Franco's or Jack's fault, there's no one to blame on here. This is business, in a category that demands money to perform and that, under today's light, also asks charisma and an expansive fanbase from the drivers and the teams. In that sense, Briatore's narrative it's spot on. It builds a remembrance, hype the audience and unfolds drama at unexpected levels. It comes as no surprise that he's Italian, land of the opera and Sofía Loren🤣 and that he has also chosen one of the most dramatic and theatrical latinos: the argentinians, that are eager to follow his lead in to this novela 😉

  • @JMRope
    @JMRope 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's all a very odd situation. Colapinto appears to be a pretty decent driver, but there was never all that much excitement around him in other categories. Compared with the excitement there was around drivers such as Lewis, Seb and Max when they were pushing for drives in F1. Currently Antonelli has all that excitement. The fact that Red Bull were the only top team to show any sort of interest in Franco (and even that cooled pretty quickly) raises questions over why Apline have gone to this much trouble. Add to this the fact that Williams let him go to a team who they would consider a direct competitor and it is even more confusing. James Vowles might like to pretend he doesn't want to stand in the way of a young driver getting his chance but his first priority is supposed to be Williams. If Alpine have signed Franco because he has a whole country supporting him and plenty of sponsorship, they should have brought former Alpine junior driver Zhou back because sorry Argentina, China wins in that regard.
    To be fair, there is not much talk of Jack Doohan becoming an all time great. But Alpine is quite a long way off competing for regular race wins so the absolute best juniors are only going to see them as a stepping stone on the way to a drive with a top team anyway. Alpine have gone to all this effort to sign a driver who they will lose if he shows signs of being a top tier driver when they already had several other drivers they could try if it turns out Doohan doesn't meet their expectations.

  • @FerndIan

      Aussie here - I don't think this will be the case. Jack would pretty much have to match or exceed Gasly's performances, and Gasly is one of the best drivers on the grid. That will be an impossible task against an F1 driver with 8 years experience. Flavio Briatore will be looking at any possible excuse to employ a driver that brings in the sponsors. Money wins again.
