Fall Fly Fishing: LOW, CLEAR WATER in Cherokee, NC

Amid extreme drought conditions and nearby forest fires, Shay and I attempt to fly fish the Cherokee area. Conditions weren't ideal, but we still had a great day on the water!

Just moved down to the area for grad school and have my spring break coming up the last week of February! I’m wanting to come over to Cherokee and fish a day or two; any suggestions on must try creeks? I’ve, of course, been hammering TroutRoutes, but it’s always great to get someone who has experience’s opinion. Love the video!

Thanks for watching! Cherokee is within close proximity to a lot of great fishing opportunities-I guess it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. There are good options in the nearby Smokies for wild and brook trout (and the scenery is hard to beat). There is the trophy section of the raven fork within Cherokee if you really want to target larger stocked fish. And then there are nearby delayed harvest streams that fish very well. The fall season has been tough due to the low water, but I've had a pretty good fall season on the water. The flow you guys had looked good compared to some that I've seen. Enjoyed watching. 👍
