- Cherokee is trout heaven for countless numbers of Southeast anglers who flock to the reservation for quality rainbow trout fishing. In this episode of Pautzke Outdoors we arrive on a overcast/rainy mid-week day to dodge crowds and invite you on the adventure.
Editor’s Note: A North Carolina fishing license isn’t required to fish in Cherokee. However, a tribal permit is. They are $10 per day and come with a whopping 10-fish limit. For more information please visit www.fishcherokee.com or / fish-cherokee

The guy with the bandanna reminds me of Dan in the forest gump movie😂😂😂
Truly beautiful rainbow trout featured in this one. It’s amazing that you could get them to bite in those water conditions. Molding that Peach Garlic FireBait into the shape of a worm is a great tip! Definitely some impressive fish stocked here. Thanks for sharing. - Tennessee Smoky
I want one of those headbands 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Wow. I could eat on one of those trout for 3 days. Really a good healthy fish to eat and very versatile. Not to mention the caviar. I could imagine you could fix a whole meal with just the eggs from one of those….Any catch n cooks to show? We havent had any good stockings in SW Virginia cause of a whirling disease outbreak. I envy those waters you have and if I ever get the time and money, I will spend a lot of time there in the Smokey Mountains and Cherokee! Thanks for the videos and keeping me in dream land!
Wow those are some huge trouts! I definitely have to checkout Cherokee! Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
cool video! headed up there next weekend and I can’t wait! Never used powerbait but i’ll give it a try
We've never used that either - but we always use Fire Bait!
Chris,
Keep the Cherokee episode "Fluff" coming! They're awesome! But watch him close-he's back on the Aberdeen hook! Lol!

Chris, this is an old episode;) we forgot we had it.
is bunches creek public land to fish on in cherokee? i’ve lived near by forever and never knew if it was open to the public
In the video, the river is running right to left, but as you travel up Bunches Rd, the river is running left to right. (on the right side of the rd) You must be crossing the river somewhere. Is this hole above or below Indian Creek Campground? Thanks
Florida salt water fishermen looking to experience something new. I'm in Gatlinburg right now and am gonna head to Blue Ridge cutting through Cherokee. Is there any chance I'd be lucky enough to catch something along the roadside creeks ?
But where exact to go tho? And can you keep?
Yes, limit is 10 per day.
Are you allowed to fish this creek further up?Where the road turns to dirt.
Yes, to the signed boundary. There's signs that show where the open section ends.
Thanks for the info.
Was this section just stocked
Yes, it was just stocked every single week of the year! What a priceless trout stocking program.
Let's get fluff to film for Chris
Have you ever smelled Fluff's - hands? He won't be ever touching that camera:)
I want to catch the natives not stock 😢
we’re right infront of your eyes here but you dont notice
