Great episode Beef! I think it would look cool to line the shore around the lighthouse with the wood and the slabs- It would look like a retaining wall, preventing erosion. The bakery transition was top notch (no pubs intended) and you comment about "Little Doc" was so funny! Thanks for providing quality videos, big thumbs up on this video!!
didn't know if you knew this prior beef, but the enchanting table is semi transparent, so if you put the glow stone under the enchanting table it will show through, and light up the area.
lol I loved the transition between the bakery and your house, I laughed so hard when you just like teleported right there
I love how unlike most of the other mindcrackers you actually kept with doing regular Vanilla rather then FTB!
Before 1.3, wooden slabs didn't burn and there was only one type of slab that looked like Oak. After 1.3, slabs had four colours and could burn. The "special slabs" are the Pre-1.3 Slabs that need a pick.
Consider putting the glowstone in the floor as a floor pattern / ceiling pattern. Also, the first glowstone you placed over the enchanting table looked to be exactly underneath the chair on the second floor. So that one at least can be inset one block higher.
near the edges of the dock it might be cool to remove a few logs to show its old and place sand underneath like a beach. then you could have a secret passage down to a small cove behind the timbers at the edge of the dock.
You could put the glowstone beneath the enchantment table, the light passes through since it's a transparent block.
5:30 Of all the things that I have see redstone-related things used for besides redstone, that has to be the most creative one yet.
Well, in a way yes. From the centre of the world (Your spawn point) you can walk 12,550,820 or so blocks. (KurtJMac is doing it for donations towards the Child's Play, I highly recommend watching it) After walking so many blocks (takes approx. 820 hours without detours) you would reach the FarLands. However after 1.7.3, they were accidentally removed and never added again. You can then walk a further 17,449,180 block, at which the world will render fake chunks (You will fall through them)
Beef make a gold or emerald shop on the doc, with either a yellow and purple tent for gold or use the green tent for emeralds since villagers trade with emeralds and gold was used as currency in the past. You can also add a tennis court to your island locations, and put a helicopter above the air balloons for the tourists who skydive, or sight seeing. And maybe you can add a campfire spot near the entrance to the island with your special rock heads (I forgot the name sorry) as a ceremonial spot
"You know what needs this more?" "The Bakery" Best use of editing I've seen!
they were from before the differnt wood types were introduced. If you're a server OP you can probobly get them with the /give command.
Rows of different colored wood slabs might look like older/newer planks on a dock. Not sure. Something to test out though. But I think rows of darker/lighter wood would look better than random 'patches'.
Beef, the cobble on the coast is actually kind of realistic; if you look at islands under threat of erosion you'll see that they use rock walls to stop the water hitting the shore and eroding it. Cool geographical fact for ya
Make sure you put ladders on the posts on the dock so if anyone falls overboard, they can climb back up.
You can put glowstone underneath the enchanting table for lighting. It works well.
You know what would be pretty cool? Skyships. Not too big or anything, but it would be a nifty idea. That's what I'm doing currently. It would also be a good idea to place some crates on the docks!
they are fire proof because there the old ones, when they used to be classified as "stone" because they had the same item id as the stone slabs, and because stone does not burn they don't burn either. now wooden slabs have there own item id and they can burn. the old slabs made before the update still are classified as "stone" and still do not burn
You should extend the port around to the lighthouse then you push the edge of the port more into the ocean so you have more room to work
Beef, the supports for the dock should have smooth stone around them at the bottom like concrete support pillars on piers irl.
Its probably too late to suggest this but I'm going to anyway... You could put redstone lamps in between the floor, since the floor is half-slabs and the basement and first floor share the same half-slab, so the basement and the first floor share the same light and you'd have more head-room.
You could possibly add a ship that is docked at the port and use vines in an item frame for the green stall so it looks like seaweed
If you embed the glowstone in your floors/ceiling instead of having it below then it would look awesome and give more headroom
Hey @VintageBeef ! Tripwire Hooks and string stretched between pylons on a pier look like the cables on real piers. It's a nice detail.
Oh my god! LOVED the muffins to bakery transition and joke
Hey beef you should make a warehouse kind of thing on the dock, it could be a places where they could unload cargo and you could also use it for storage when working at the village and not wanting to travel to your house all the time
What you could do is have glowstone stick out of theceiling and have the other side be part of the floor one floor up, if you dont mind the floor.
yes, that is why i said it's technically not infinite, as in you cant make more of it, same goes for soul sand, netherrack, mossy cobblestone, beacons, wither stars, lapis, ores, and the other blocks found in the end portal room.
user jungle wood slabs; it is close enough to regular oak wood in color that it really will look like water damage.
Redstone light blocks look cooler imho, you could have levers in the basement side. Raise them a block up - they could double as floor lights upstairs :)
previous episode: where going to make look-out posts so that they can see foreigners coming.
now: where making a huge dock for all the ships to come
Hey Beef, you have almost a single chest full of bones. You showed them in your Memory Lane episode "200" tour. They are at your old skeleton spawner. Remember? All you have to do is go get them :D Hope this helps. As always, great video. Keep up the amazing work. :)
You can get fireproof slabs by setting your Minecraft.jar file to Minecraft 1.2.5. In the 1.3 update they changed the way wood slabs work.
For some reason that jump cut made me laugh more than it should of...
That intro never gets old.
also for the sides, i think putting bushes around would look good
the green one needs to sell melon seeds, sailors need fruit to prevent scurvy, and a black and gray stall that sells inksacs, it is the place that sailors sell their squidy goods. and the blue one should also sell fishing poles.
Beef, on the bottom floor try putting the Glowstone in the floor and upstairs you could try putting some hanging lights outside that shine in through the window
the fireproof halfslab come from before the 4 wood styles he crafted a bunch of them because they are fire proof
you should have a stand that comes off from the reed farm that sells reeds and connect them together
the basement lighting: Maybe instead of putting a slab on the ceiling, remove the ceiling slab and place the glowstone there. Giving floor lighting to the floor above as well.
5:47 Best cut in the world. I laughed so hard! I dont even know why..
Hey Beef, since you have the villager UFO in the mid of the ocean, you could do an underwater tunel to the island, so you won't have that big bridge intruding the sight of the village... (Sry about grammar and stuff, spanish speaker here)
you should build a little dockworkers hut or shack right by the dock. he can be the guy that helps unload cargo from ships.
Honestly back (episode 180-ish) when you were talking about building a fishing dock, the other mindcrackers missed out
Beef maybe at that first green tent you made you mentioned seaweed you could put vines or cactus in item frames that maybe looked like seaweed.Great video! It's the little things........
you can try and use oak stairs to make it look like the dock is sort of breaking
you should put the dark slabs where the regular slabs touch the water to give it a wet feeling to it
so just a tip for the dock sorry to ruin it but like it looks darker IN the water so if you made it oak wood out of the water it all looks like dry and wet oak.. try it in creative see if you like it
You should put the wood around the lighthouse and if you put a dark half slab it will make it look wet.
For the "warn out" places put it where the "sailors" would walk most like in front of the fish booth
Beef, you can put a torch or a piece of glowstone under the enchanting table, and the light will shine through it.
Put the dark slabs vertically along the dock to make it look like wood grain.
For the lighting, on the top floor make the lighting in the floor, therefor in the downstairs it will stick out a little, but still giving enough room! (Like so Beef sees!)
If you put stairs in the dock where you put the dark slabs it will look like a broken floorboard. But thats only if you raise it a block :) Give it a try (test it) dont want all your work to go to waste
army base on the island or a big battle ship so that island is like an vantage point for troops to attack people around you like pearl harbor for the US
Dear Beef, Make something like a picnic table on the port so the sailors can eat.
mossy wood is a good idea. could find it in places like mineshafts or something
Beef, you should switch the tent colours, have the blue near the water because he sells fish. Then have the green near the sugar canes.
All the wooden slabs made before 1.3(I think it was 1.3, correct me if I'm wrong) are just 'wooden slabs' instead of 'oak wooden slabs'. By that time you couldn't make other colors of wooden slabs. You also had to break them with your pickaxe and they could not burn. So there is no way you can craft them now.
they are the slabs form before the update when half slabs didn't burn only full blocks
Last episode: "I'm building watch towers because these people, they don't trust outsiders."
This episode: "This dock is bigger because it's for thee bigger ships"
Beef, your logic is very..... logical. :)
you should do like random lines with the spruce slabs so it looks like different colored boards, In like a staggered pattern like a real wood floor
You could place glowstone in the floor between basement and 1st floor so that lamps in the basement would be higher and you would also have your1st floor lit up
It sucks now that I have to wait for vintagebeefs minecrack vids but so worth it! :)
I have seen docks that the supports go down a couple of feet then at the bottom if them are like floaty things
you should use the day light sensor to make your light house work then it would fit the theme with ships and all :)
The best interior decorator beef, the best
Beef, if you want to explore Ethopia a little more, then use night vision-potions. That was how Etho built it.
If you're running low on bones go to the skelly farm at the Castle.
beef, switch the stands around so that the fish man is nearer the water. More importantly make the other one a reed stand (seaweed) and attach it to the reed farm
beef i think that you should switch the green booth with the blue booth. the blue one selling fish should be closer to the water and the green booth should be selling sugar cane since its next to a sugar cane farm. just a suggestion man ;)
Beef, light goes through enchantment tables. you can put lighting under the enchantment table.
"Little Doc", that sounds like what Doc would call his... son... LOL I love you Beef
"Theres more ships coming in to this dock" *i look for boats* "i only see one...."
Beef don't put in the dock around the lighthouse. Lighthouses signal land not docks. If you want it to signal docks you should put 2 small light houses at each end of the dock.
Beef! To emphasize the fact the spruce is "wet" change the border of the village walkways to oak!
5:46 that was an awesome cut, I loled.
you should make a little open ice tray type thing to keep the fish cool
have you thought about making a waterfall pool with cobble and vines some were in the center of your island.
you should make some type of crane so the ships can be unloaded/loaded.. that would look good on the dock area..
You should put fences under the docks to add to it
once you reach I think over 2,000,000 blocks you start going through the blocks and it would also take quite a journey. Also people on the server who get frustrated at the lag generated my generating new terrain
Woaaahhh crazy cutting action at 5:30!
"the bakery" - laughed so hard at that cut!
Hey for your lighting by the enchantment table put the glow stone beneath the enchantment table
You should make a vendor who sells fish supplies for the fisherman i.e. fishing rods, fishing line (string), bait (seeds or whatever you want), and other stuff!
Hey Beef, it would be pretty funny if you made the green vendor sell tickets to the Lost City of Ethopia :)
Hey beef, I know this would be hard to do but it would look so much nicer if the villager bridge was under the water so you didn't have to see it. Also maybe make it have a way to push them to the island with water and signs. Again I get that this is a difficult task but It'd look so much better.
Put redstone lamps in the floor instead of using glowstone on the ceiling and you can place glowstone under the enchantment table because its a transparent block
Beef, build a banana stand on the boardwalk. "There's always money in the banana stand..."
5:46 is the funniest part ever. you not even mentioning it makes it even funnier. Thanks for the laugh beef :)
I agree, but he should also put colored wool down as coral
*video cut* "Wanna know who needs this more than i do?" *another cut* "The bakery." good job beef. fixed your mistake.
This episode is vintage Vintage.
You should make fly fishing pole sticking out of the edges on the port
adam wickens , that coud mean ur mc needs more memory (happend to mw with realis pack) just assign more memory now, i dont know how t d it in a mac, but in windows i just used a batch file hope this helps
It's the basement, it's not like the floor is the ceiling of another room. Just put the glowstone in the floor.
in dark wood planks on the floor of the port spell out VB for vintage beef
