You don’t know how helpful the time stamp is for me! I break my scripture study into daily blocks and your time stamp keeps me where I need to be. Thank you so much!
I feel like the Family Proclamation is a prophecy that has been fulfilled. I remember as a young girl when it came out & everyone was like “well yeah of course” because at the time that wasn’t controversial but now it IS! It is such a protection & guide in these crazy times where the family is under total attack!
I learned this week that when you wear a lanyard around your neck (you know, those things around your neck where your nametag is displayed, so they know you are a part of an event?), and there are sunflowers on the lanyard, it tells others that you are with an special needs child. Parents wear them while with their children, which tells others that they may need extra help or simply to tell others to be patient with their child if they seem to be acting out, etc. Wish I had one of those back in the day when we were raising our special needs child. I think the symbolism amazing in regard to the Lord, His children, His gospel and your lesson. So much to think about.
I'm so Grateful that we live in the times where Every one of those revelations and prophecies are in our pockets and accessible at just about any given time.
I too love sunflowers 🌻. I’m intrigued by the way they follow the sun light. The blooms face eastward in the morning and slowly turn during the day. Until they face the sunset in the evening. I used a SUNflower in a lesson couple of years ago as an analogy for us to follow the SON, and His light. I painted a little 🌻 and wrote “be like a sunflower….Follow the Son!” I printed one for everyone in the class. I’ve seen them on many refrigerator doors since then. Thanks for the reminder to observe more of Gods handy work, and lessons.
They also wait for the sun's return looking east after the sun goes down. Good symbol that when we have lost sight of the "son" if look to the promised location he will return to our lives. Just like a sunflower.
I love this discussion so much!! I just received a much-needed blessing from my Minister and Bishop Friday night, 2 days ago, while my wife was working (so I was watching my 2-yr- old son alone). I've received several blessings and administrations (i have cancer and ancillary illnesses), so they were much-needed in his life that he knows they are important. While the voice was speaking the blessing, my son climbed up on my chair with me and place his hands on my head also. This journal entry will be on my son's Family Search page also. He expressed his simple testimony of blessings by his actions.
We saw this week prophets working through revelation with the announcement of keeping the Saturday evening session. After announcing approximately 6 weeks ago they were stopping the Saturday evening session they said that following “additional study and prayer” they determined to continue holding the evening session, “albeit in a different format than in the past.” I love this!
This was such a timely lesson in light of the announcement of no Saturday night conference session, oh wait, we are having a Saturday night conference session! It makes so much sense that even a profit has to work through things. Thank you for what you do for us all every week Emily and David.
I remember President Nelson’s words in his talk “Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives” April 2018 as they pierced my soul. Then watching how everything is unfolding since then, I have held onto those words because they give me hope that God is working through it all and it reminds me to stay close to the Spirit and not get caught up in the “nonsense” as Emily said. I love the idea of printing it and keeping it on me. I want to be like Orson Pratt and continually talk about it and share it because I think people need that hope and reminder, too. I’m praying it doesn’t take 30 years for the Savior to come!!! Thank you for your inspiring messages and thoughts ❤️. I wish I could be your friend so we could just chat all the time about spiritual things! 😁
In Joseph Smith's day people often knew the Prophet well. They saw his "humaness" on a daily basis. The Prophet and Apostles now sometimes may seem perfect and super human because we really only see them twice a year speaking words of great wisdom in General Conference. So if they say or do something we don't understand or agree with we might panic. But as you say, we can choose to ask God for understanding and confirmation and endure until those things come. So thanks again for a lovely lesson. 💕
I love how you pointed out that the Prophet Joseph had to “work through” some of the prophecies he received, fleshing them out over time. It makes me think of the fairly recent decisions of children of same-sex couples not being allowed baptism-and then that being changed to allow their baptism. Although I absolutely KNOW that Russell M. Nelson is a prophet, called and ordained by God, I was confused by the decisions. This discussion has answered my prayers and given me clarification. Thank you.
One interesting thing about sun flowers... where I used to live in Tooele I would drive the back way to work to Lehi and there were sunflowers all along the road... I out to pick some one day... Holy Crow! they were tough as nails! Even the box cutter I had in my car could not effectively cut this beautiful flower............ it gave me a whole new appreciation for this beautiful flower 🌼
Love your wonderful insights every week! ❤ In reference to your analogy about restoration and using sandpaper, I have done a few furniture restoration projects in my day. Often, I needed to use a heavy grit sandpaper at the beginning of the project but as the project went through each stage of restoration, I would need to go back and do more sanding...each time using a finer sandpaper than before. As the project evolved, the approach was a bit different but the core project was still the same. I just needed to refine my methods to get to the final, completely restored project. My father always referred to the process as being under the touch of the master's hand. In the case of prophetic revelation, the touch of the Master's (capital M) hand. ❤
We are all the Lord's Clerks. We are asked to keep our histories. We are all apart of Zion. We all have faith. We all recieve blessings and callings from the Lord and Bishops we have. May we all be His Clerks in our efforts to be more faithful members of His church.
I was blessed to be a daughter of a stake patriarch. Patriarchs revisit the revelation they received for that individual many times before it is signed and mailed. Sometimes changes are made, usually slight changes in wording. But, once it is signed, it is done. How he prayed and worried that he got it just right!
whelp, that explains why something i was definitely told during my blessing is not on my printed copy, but I wonder if that means it is no longer relevant?
David, I have been specifically noticing sunflowers 🌻 everywhere as well. The Lord really is showing us His hand. I’m going to send pictures of them to my mother, who loves them and record it in my journal. ❤️
Wow! Just when I think I can’t like these anymore I am reminded why I listen to them over and over. I love the analogy of the the wheat and the tares that Dave gives towards the end. So true often we look at life and think of circumstances as tares but in reality they are wheat. Thank you both for your insights.
I needed this today, I needed this lesson, I feel chastised by Heavenly Father as I confess I was one of the critical one about Saturday session.. thank you this was awesome
The first discussion I had with my Activity Girls after being called to that position was Pres Nelson’s first talk after being called as President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It seemed to me that as Saints we had the responsibility to study, learn, pray, to know and recognize what personal revelation is and feels like in our own personal lives. Since that time, such guidance seems even more critical today.
