Being able to understand that you are actually learning and improving is so important. People don't realize that they are improving even though they are, but just don't feel it until they just stop losing. 🔥
I started wrestling last year as a 110lb freshman. I couldn't hold my own against most 106s, and even though I have the same record as last year I'm a 138 giving 157s a run for their money
You're type of thinking is what we need in all levels of coaching. I wish more coaches thought this way but unfortunately, they don't. Thanks for the content.
@@matthoffman2411 thanks man, we can’t be all high level wrestlers but I think we can have more high level coaches! Will definitely make more high level wrestlers with this mindset, Mental is everything
Emphasizing simple improvements when you're tired helps a lot. Get REAL TIRED, then get flat on your belly and focus on keeping your head up as your partner tries turning you - it's easy to remember to keep your head up the first time you're on your belly, much harder in the 3rd round with 30 seconds to go when you feel like you want to take a nap. Knowing rankings is so fun and so pointless. It's so interesting! But if you have faith in yourself, your coach, what you've been doing, there's no real benefit to worrying about that.
Agreed! Rankings are fun but has a lot more negatives than positives. For elite athletes this is different because the can deal with this but not many high schoolers are not mentally tough enough to handle that pressure
Not sure what you mean, you definitely need to run at some point to loose weight or even for some cardio but I don’t think it should be your main conditioning

Do you believe in running for wrestling?
Not sure what you mean, you definitely need to run at some point to loose weight or even for some cardio but I don’t think it should be your main conditioning
@ yeah for conditioning we had to run all the time in my practices
have faith in what your coach is teaching you
