As a Jiu-Jitsu guy, one of my regrets is I never got to wrestle seriously. I have tremendous respect for the sport and I just love this vid. The athleticism, the hard training, the explosions, the technique, the coaching about taking a moment to reset mentally. Beautifull.
@@random_adlibI feel that is the case with alot of sports in US. Same with Hockey. HS/College system have their advantages but after school, you are done. Then it's better with the world club system.
Same, I currently do judo and it’s very fun, but I just wish my school had wrestling when I was younger . I feel like having the previous wrestling experience would have also helped alot in my judo currently.
I miss D1 wrestling. Grinding it out with great teammates, learning together, working off 6-8 pounds of sweat, and having good coaches working you to that next level. It feels great walking out of a practice that you just knew made you a better wrestler at the end of the day.
I regret not sticking with wrestling. wrestled for four years 3 middle school 1.5 high school and some club yet I never realized how much I loved the feeling of hating myself from working so hard. No workout like it and no tougher sport mentally. Wrestling will always be the #1 sport in my heart.
Jiujitsu doesn't really have the same intense, grinding mentality (atleast not all gyms) but it's very similar man if you liked wrestling you'll probably like jiujitsu
Tommy G! Bro you have taken wrestling to the next level with your channel. I am trying to do the same. I have been wrestling for 5 years and doing youtube for about 6 months, maybe a little more. I have over 300 videos and closing in on 2k subscribers. I post all my matches, wins and losses. I post training videos and some clips from camps too. What I don't have is any interviews with other wrestling youtubers. Bro I am literally a hour and a half north of you. Any way I could do an interview with you for my channel? I know it wouldn't do anything huge for you, but it would be dope for me and my channel. I am 100% sure my parents would drive me down there. If you are busy I completely understand, just thought I would ask. Love the channel, keep doing great!
I went to the University of Michigan wrestling camp back in the summer of 1989 between my freshman and sophmore year of high school. There were hundreds of kids there. My record went from 6-10 as a freshman to 16-8 as a sophmore because of that camp. The head coach was all class. He gave me a ride to Ann Arbors' tiny airport for my parents to get me when camp ended. Looong time ago, but a great experience and great program
good coaching. good system. I almost care about that more than any specific sport. When you see a coach and staff that has the system, the stations, the drills, the stop watch, the segmentation, the gauntlet, when you see that kind of organization, you want people you care about to have that kind of experience and be a part of a program like that.
Good thing they posted this to see the practice because what we saw from Cam Amine vs Penn State was so sad. I never seen him get manhandled like that before. 4 stall calls!
I wrestled. In fact I was state champion in high school in middle weight in Indiana. . Had a college wrestling scholarship too. Wrestling is an intense muscular driven sport. And I took to it like a fish to water. And I didn’t try out until my junior year in high school. My only regret I didn’t stay at it in college and develop enough to go to The Olympics.
Would love to see cross over training with hi level wrestlers going to a top end jiu jitsu school like Bteam, and the reverse for BJJ guys coming to a school like this.
@@dillonmackay683 A lot of wrestlers considered greatest of all time used PEDs especially olympians. I don't take any credit away still from being enhanced, you just have to look at pure technicality of a grappler.
Michigan is a top ten program and those guys work hard! I would love to see an Oklahoma, Iowa or Penn State workout! Even Cornell can have a fluke like Dake or Diakomihalis come through their program but how do these teams stay at a top ten level for so long?!?!!
Take it all the way down to 0.25 speed and it's still fast. Incredibly inspiring. Props to that dude, have no idea who he is or what his record is, but he's damn sure an athlete that knows his body.
Tough times but the reward is sweeter the older you get. I wrestled in highschool and im almost 30 now and the work ethic and grit i developed back then has pushed me greatly in every facet of life
As a distance runner I honestly agree with this. My sport is extremely hard but I feel it's 2nd to wrestling cause wrestling is just a different kind of beast.
animals bro. I'm a boxer...my dad made me wrestle and it took my inside fighting to the next level. I advise anyone to learn how to wrestle no matter how trash you are. DO IT!
As a bjj fan and fluent practitioner I wish gyms like these allowed occasional walk ins so I can make up time for not sticking with this stuff in high school. Wrestling is a key piece of missed opportunity in bjj and I wish there were more clinics for it to the adult public outside of college degrees.
Only thing I don’t like is everyone layered in sweats… coach Bentley at app state taught us that when it’s time for wrestling practice you should dress lightly so you can actually focus on getting better at wrestling. And not cutting weight.
After last weekend, clearly they need to change something….Coaches, training regimen, diet, SOMETHING….Maybe a shave and a haircut for their 125 pounder….lol 🙏😝
Sorry Michigan but after that beat down by penn and lackluster performance by several wrestlers maybe you should hold off on tv crews coming into the room. Im sorry but theres losing which there absolutely nothing wrong with then theres giving up which several of your wrestlers did and thats not ok at a top tier wrestling program
Here’s what I can’t wait to see….Starocci tech fall Griffith at Big10’s. Shane probably thought it was a huge victory wrestling a PSU backup that was 9 pounds lighter than him….Mich bench was cheering like he won the Nationals. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤡🤡
0:57. Run it at 1/4 speed and it's still fast. Props to that young man being a self-made human howitzer round.
Probably has a nasty blast double
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to be like "where'd he go"

I loved wrestling when I was younger. Biggest thing that sucks is that after HS/college there is nowhere to keep wrestling

Warmest place in Ann Arbor! That struck a nerve. I remember coming in to the wrestling room on cold winter day. It was my home.
Dig the music. Wrestling is not for everybody. The level of dedication is way up there. Respects to those who do it
Kevin Jackson is such a boss.
This is why they’re among the best in the world. Great coaches and great training. Reminds me of high school in Randolph, NJ.
What an amazing coach. No wonder Michigan gets so many top level transfers. He’s a mature athletes coach.
I mean... if you wrestle at this or near this level, any other sport you enter, you will have a major physical and mental advantage.
