Forty to fifty years ago in watching an episode like this I would have been aghast at the brutality and dehumanizing practices of the Nazi police state, as contrasted to the behavior of the governments of the western democracies toward their citizens. Nowadays, when I look at the practices of our government officials, the policies of agencies of the government and the increasingly militarized civilian police forces, I see a much less distinct difference.
TO IMAGINATION... not totally., You should read a couple of authogiographies escaping prison camps in World War II. Some of those are close to what they have brought here. Ok, those books are out of fashion nowdays. You mostly find them in very well stocked libraries, sopecialised on antiquated books nowdays But still you can try ordering some of them over your library. A lot of those had been published in abridged form in the READER´S DIGEST - as a kid my mother had given me her collected copies to read when I was sick and could not go to school 10:40 A shame they could not do the Ian Fleming joke as in TIMELESS but back then the famous author and former member of the British Secret Service still was alive and he had protested. Besides his Bond novels just started to become famous in the Sixties. Still the way Sean Maguire had played Ian Fleming in the CASTLE VALOUR episodes reminds a lot at the way Lloyd Bochner (1924-2005 )had handled his role in this wonderfull COMBAT ! episode. So I take it Maguire must he a COMBAT ! fan himself.
