Very positive - change of Government is a slight spanner in the works, but given one of their key platforms is growth and building, I can’t really see them being anything other than enthusiastic to see this go ahead.

I would hope Universal would make an announcement before the station starts construction.

Doesn't make sense to start building a station before a decision has been made by GUGB

@@tuborice4571 A rail station for the nearby Wixams town development has been on the cards for 2 decades - long enough that a previously-approved 4-platform scheme was scuppered by funding issues following Network Rail's reclassification as a public body, which changed its borrowing mechanisms.
The current 2-platform scheme - as determined by Bedford Borough after they took over in 2018 - was approved in February 2023 and had been subject to further design work etc before UGB came to light 9 months later. Forging ahead with it is driven by S106 terms - it's part-financed by developer money (capped and most of it set aside for the previous scheme since 2006) that will expire unless station delivery is formally agreed by 29 July; even with the new government it may not be delivered otherwise.
If the government & Universal formally choose to proceed with the theme park and its infrastructure (4-platform station etc), that won't be an issue. Nonetheless, the council is hedging its bets - better to forge ahead and accept some degree of wasted work* than to treat the theme park as a fait accompli and, if it doesn't happen, risk killing off the 20-year Wixams station dream for good.
[* Construction of the station building & platforms can't begin in earnest until the tracks are slewed - during the Christmas break, perhaps]

Can someone simplify this for me?? Is this good news or bad news?? Is the park happening?

It's good news. It means they are still moving forward.

It means that the Bedford council are heavily wants this to go ahead. They're in the finer detail stage of the project for agreement with the various parties involved. This is good news that the main local council is pushing this hard for this to happen.

If it goes ahead, I pray the venue WILL NOT BE CASHLESS. I also hope that you WILL NOT have to be "vaccinated" to get in. Can anyone confirm this?

@@tinseltits9855 I can’t imagine it will anything other than cashless. Barely anyone uses cash in the UK even outside of theme parks - contactless payment is universal.
