The E-mu EMAX sampler (1986) is one of my favorite instruments.
I'll talk about how to record and edit samples - turning non-musical bangs and clangs into musical and rhythmic instruments. Also includes a download pack with edited sounds I recorded during the session.

I regret that I did not try getting one of this model back during 2000. That was when my personal synthesizer mania exploded and when a model like this could actually be had for a fistful of coins by comparison to May 2024 when I’m commenting.
Awesome I love sampling... I have the Emu Esi 4000... I've done an entire low resolution LP with it : "Amor a mi negra lista" ... check it out! Thanks for this!!

Have you thought of buying/building a E-Muser?..
They are a fantastic interface that works with EMXP and allows fast transfer via USB to the Emax 422 port.. a real timesaver in the studio
THANK YOU! YES, I have the E-Muser...but I can't get it working. Is there a special connection I need from the Emuser to the Emax? As I am told the Emuser is configured for EmulatorII...and the Emax is slightly different.
Sample with out having to load sounds or midi possible? I hear sounds on my other sampler no sounds going through

Do you know any other way to convert wav. files to hfe. files? It is quite impossible to run emxp in Windows 11 ( refuse to open.exe ) and in Mac OS through Wine some errors come. I love my Emax but it would be nice to use some own samples too. I have SD card reader in my EMU so I don't have any problems to upload sounds once I got them converter to hfe format first.

I loaded a 💾 floppy disk no problem . I heard the sounds. Trying to sample in and hear the sounds on the Emax a no go. I heard the sounds in my other sampler
make sure you connect to both Left and Right outputs - don't use the headphones.

Hey, could you please make a tutorial video of the loop function on the Emax I, or better yet, of the digital processing module? I own an Emax I rack and I love it, but the digital processing module is really complicated to use, Of course I use it all the time, but there are parameters that I don't understand and you have a lot of experience with this machine

As an Angelspit fan and a fellow hardware geek, this was awesome to hear and see. I too have a passion for older samplers. My first sampler, I was 17 and wanting to make industrial specifically, I got an Ensoniq Mirage DSK-1 from a used instrument shop. I made entire albums on JUST the Mirage. What I loved about it, is what you love about the Emax at lower sample rates, that grit. I had grown up in chicago going to the WaxTrax! bands shows all the time, and I had seen Skinny Puppy using 2 Mirages on the Ain't It Dead Yet? VHS I had, and made me want one so bad. I sadly no longer have either of the 2 Mirages I've owned over the years, but I DO have an Emax II that I've owned for like 3 years. I haven't really touched it. I did not know that it, like the S900, can have the rates and quality adjusted on the samples. THIS IS AMAZING NEWS!!! I'm currently dusting off the Emax II right now to test this and see what I can get out of it. Saved me from selling it, which I've been debating the last couple weeks as prices have skyrocketed.
THANK YOU! DO NOT SELL IT!!! The EMAX II does have digital filters, but they are THE BEST digital filters i've heard...like, it sounds HUGE AND BOLD!!!
Also, I will be doing streams about the EMAX - sampling, placing samples and using it with distortion pedals. I hope to do the first one TONIGHT! Sub to my channel to get the notification.

Would you say if you cannot afford an Emax, that the Ensoniq Mirage DSK-1 is an affordable option that is close to an E-Mu?
