This is the first year since 2014 where I didn't really listen to Monstercat that much, and that's because of the lack of compilation albums. That being said, the music is pretty good.
I've been following Monstercat since 2012 on and off, but now that the compilations are dropped I listen to almost no new releases. I get that, now that streaming is pretty much the preferred way to listen to music, it makes less sense to make these compilations, but I wish there was at least an alternative to keep up with new releases for people who barely use streaming services and prefer downloading their music. And the podcast is not a good option imo, as I don't want to listen to an hour long podcast for a few new releases, even as good as the podcast is.
The compilation albums, among other things, is what made MC stand out and be interesting in the first place. Now they're just another mainstream label, may as well folllow the individual artists and not bother with the label anymore. I jumped ship back in 2018 or 2019 after the first few Uncaged comps, just wasn't the label I enjoyed anymore.
@@mrgalaxy396 they're trying to be like everybody else now. I don't see myself listening to their new stuff from this point forward, except for the annual best of compilation. Just hope they keep that going and don't get rid of that as well
Been a part of the Monstercat Family since late 2013, and I have to say, besides the 2017 Mix, and 023 Mixes, this has to be the HARDEST album mix ever. Such an awesome year!
That was such a really solid Best of year mix when it got Premiered! And even without any new main Mcat compilation mixes, I'm like super glad to see a new touch of an official Monstercat mix on the label here, and this background here is super awesome! :D

Looking at this "Monstercat Best of year" background, it almost makes me feel like I would love to see a typical animation show/trailer with these cats someday.
2022 has been a very great year (although I have been gone for far too long)! The music from Grant, Ellis, Shingo Nakamura, Bossfight, Caster, and many more artists were kicking in, month after month, week after week, day after day, and so on so forth! I cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store!
Finally a new best of Monstercat! This is so cool! 2022 was really cool and I passed it as a very good year! But now, I can enjoy all the best songs voted for this year without cuts by TH-cam. Cannot to see what Monstercat, the label is reserving to us for the futur year of 2023. I throught the song I was thinking in previous Monstercat's Premieres before beginnings. By the way, the beginning of the mix is just perfect! No one can't said this is bad. And last but at least, I cannot wait for the upcoming releases, like the remixes, the collabs, the IDs and etc... Thanks Monstercat for sharing this to me. Hope you deserves your 10M of subs.
2022 has been a great year for monstercat we got some really great bangers like PEW PEW and won’t make a sound we also saw the return of Mr FijiWiji after two years of inactivity I really can’t wait what 2023 has in store for us
@@daddytbut5376 I feel like the monstercat community doesn't really have much recency bias. Loads of songs are from the first half of the year. And, hot take, Limitless is the second best dubstep track this year only behind UMBRA
This year was really cool! Bossfight and Papa Khan dropped new EPs (my favourite ones of the year), new faces appeared and so much more! The cover art looks really good too! Looking forward to 2023 :D
huge fan of the mixes being properly back to the original 007 style of mixes where everything is a bit faster paced and more interesting listening to the mixes back, also the intro is cleannn, the mashups even cleaner, hope this style sticks around, 2021 and 2022's mixes have been really something else for the books.
By the way, this comment is just mainly for all of you fans who are still more into mid 2010's style of EDM but even clearly for anyone that never heard of this Best of year compilation before: At 3:20 is where the better quality of a song starts approaching. Rameses B is also in this mix too (which is at 1:00:23) if your ever a big fan of his music more than most modern releases. :) I'm just putting it here, just so that hopefully a lot more early-to-mid Mcat fans (that still find the typical 2012-2015 Era of EDM more appealing) can be able to hear that No Mana song playing here & Mr. Fijiwiji one too sometime for any future month.
I replayed that little transition at 31:16 around like 10 times in this mix, it just sounded pretty cool to me (specifically with headphones on to hear that better). :)
Another year passed, and monstercat still be my main source for me to listening some banger and cool music. Keep it up for next year, can't wait to have another good stuff.

Seen a few other people saying this, but I wanna say it for myself just for the sake of it, I'm really sad the compilation albums are gone. I'll be honest I barely listened to monstercat this year, and I think it's because there aren't any more compilation albums. It's a pity because I really loved the few of the songs that I listened to... (No Mana has become one of my favourite artists around, and Dead Man walking is one of my other favourites of the year.) Not that anything I have to say has any weight, but the compilation albums will be sorely missed, and a return would mean a lot.
If it makes you feel a little better, there's a good touch of typical "Fanmade" style of Uncaged & Instinct Volume mixes that were made from a couple other users (especially YT user named Blankie!!, he did a great job with transitioning between songs and visual backgrounds too). :)
