Itachi was Kisame’s only friend. The only person he cared about. I actually cried when itachi died and when kisame thought of him. That’s how you knew they had a bond until death. RIP 😭
But the sad thing was it was most likely a one sided friendship on kisames part since itatchi didn't care about the akatsuki
@m2saucy yeah that makes sense. But I wish that after itatchi learned that he died, he ran into a reanimated kisame for at least one episode BEFORE running into sasuke to see how they'd act. I know people that people like jiraiya should have been brought back for naruto but we never got to see many of these interactions between itatchi and kisame.
@skrrt skrrt actually they couldve brought kisame back even tho he was torn apart because kabuto said he only needed the dna of a person in order to reanimate them deidra is the perfect example he blew himself the fuck up and was brought back same for hidan he was blown to pieces and was brought back also
@skrrt skrrt still seemed more of a one sided friendship and conversation by the lake. Kisame kept on talking as if he knew what type of person Itachi was. While Itachi just corrected him on both of them being humans. You still do see kisame trying to make a connection with itachi while itachi distances himself
@Axel Kasai I don’t believe it was one-sided at all. Remember when Naruto and Killer Bee ran into reanimated Itachi and Nagato. Itachi noticed that Bee was wielding the Samehada, and with a shocked type of facial expression he said to himself “Samehada? So Kisame’s?”. I believe Itachi did come to think of Kisame as his friend.

Kisame is a such an under appreciated character. He was easily one of the most dynamic characters In Naruto. He started with the belief that killing his comrades was normal as a result of his time in the blood mist, then ended up dying for them once he felt part of a true family (which the akutsuki obviously was for him)
Like Itachi said: Kisame is just a thug who got lost in the mist and ended up with the Akatsuki. He can’t even control where’s he going.
We all have a purpose for living. Just have to find one.

Considering that historically (from what I know) ninja weren’t really masters of swords like the katana, they preferred chain weapons and other weapons that specialize in tripping and disarming opponents. When they did use a sword, it was usually shorter than a katana because a shorter blade made it easier to conceal and legal to carry around(from what I heard, there was a law that forbid non-samurai to carry a blade that exceeds a certain length

itachi's my favorite character his loyalty and love for his village and brother what obito says to Sasuke was REAL deep he made Sasuke hate the leaf for destroying his life having his big bro kill the entire clan and making itachi have Sasuke hate him and want revenge and eventually kilĺing his only living FAMILY members.
Kisame's final reminiscence about Itachi before his own death, filled with analogies and introspection was amazingly done.

Great comment. Kisame died believing in something- no matter how small. Mustard seed small. Burn then again, itachi had the demeanor of a hokage. Kisame basically spent all that time with a shinobi w wisdom that matched a hokage. On top of that, I believe Kisame came to realize that the uchiha massacre may not have been a blood lust driven event but Itachi end up being caught in it all.
This just shows you how much Itachi meant to Kisame.

Obito had great respect for kisame. A lot of the akatsuki members did. Besides the phsycopathic ones like hidan and deidara. Just due to kisame’s loyalty and personality as a guy. Everybody had high respect for kisame knowing his abilities and how strong he is and his loyalty. Yes obito did indeed care for kisame as well and was in fact one of his favorite akatsuki members just like itachi. Obito didnt like deceiving kisame since he liked him and didnt think he deserved it. Obito states this when showing kisame his true identity. And kisame ofcourse gets excited and curious to see his face

You know the awesomeness and respect people had for Kisame was legitimate when even the main character pays his respects along with Guy and even points out how that even in the Akatsuki there were those who cared about their comrade's; Nagato, Konan, Kisame, Itachi. Those four were the only ones who cared about someone other than themselves from the start. I'd add Obito but he only changed much later on and was obsessed over the dead while as the 4 of them respected and cared for their partners and others while still being villains from the beginning.
I didn’t even know Sharks eat their siblings even before they get out of their mothers belly. Some anime are worth watching, you can learn a thing or two for it. Itachi’s eye tho, damn cool asf.

But those three were probably the most evil, as pain, konan, itachi, obito, sasori all had sad pasts, idk if kisame fits into that category but everyone else does, deidora, Hidan and kakauzu were cool as fuck, it's just they were probably the most actually evil as the others had sad pasts and truly good hearts
Kisame actually had a fucked up past as well. Most of his era and that village did. Kisame worked directly under Fuguki, who used to hold Samehada. At one point, Fuguki ordered Kisame to kill all of his comrades on a mission if it went south. Kisame had to kill them all and that's where his "be weary" of me comes from. He doesn't even trust himself, his guilt about his life has always been real af, because he's always been ordered or forced to kill his comrades.

Its crazy how on the surface and interior these two were actually similar on the surface they’re coldblooded psychopaths that murdered their comrades but on the inside they cared for their comrades more than anyone and was only following orders yet they were condemned for it but unlike itachi whom was able to save sasuke kisame didnt have anyone or thing in the world to keep his head leveled thus leading him to believe he was nothing but a cold blooded killer that killed for fun and im glad he realized it was more to him in the end thanks to the words of the one person he could consider his friend their bond was one that didn’t need to be overly expressed and I appreciated it being that way

No one believes me when I say that the best characters are the secondary ones. And when they don't, I think back to scenes like this one.
Kisame chooses an effective way to try and scare Itachi in order to gain his respect. You can really feel the malice in Kisame's words and tone when he tells Itachi about how sharks cannibalize in the womb. This is a test of Itachi's metal that Kisame is doing to really see if he's the man everyone says he is and that is why Kisame smiles the way he does because he realizes Itachi is a the real deal, completely unshaken by Kisame's words. I can tell you I was. Itachi retorts and gets under Kisame's skin by seeing through Kisame's test and pierces through his facade like a true Uchiha/sharingan wielder would. Two god tier shinobi right there. Kishimoto doesn't get the credit he deserves for how deep he wrote these characters. Naruto is a once in a lifetime masterpiece.

The thing is...they both were right. Looking back at what Kisame did...its pretty similar to what Itachi did. Itachi's was just on a much larger scale. Itachi loved his family and clan and Kisame did value his comrades. They both ended up doing something they really didnt wanna do. Kisame acted like it was fun for him..and he wanted to empathize with Itachi about it. Itachi felt like Kisame was wrong about how he felt. Thus saying, "you dont even know yourself"
