I'm really glad my brother is a collector of physical media now. All of mine, now are his collection and it's growing. Hopefully ten to 20 years from now we can look upon what we've made and pass it down. I urge all of you out there to hold on to your VHS, DVD, and bluerays. Hell even records. Keep them and preserve the legacy.
PREACH!
I started collecting a few months ago and I love it. Very expensive hobby though 😅 It’s still very small, but I’m not that person that wants to buy every single movie. I only buy movies I really like or love. Can’t wait to see my collection growing and look back at it in a few years
Make sure you put away a couple extra players.
@@playedout148 yes without a doubt. Forgot to mention that but yes.
I’m going Into the lamp off it’s nice yeahheart v not all of it❤govo p
Love how this drops when I’m in the physical media section of Target picking up 4K of Talk to Me.
It's amazing. Enjoy
@@scottv8124 I watched it in theaters on opening weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to rewatch it in the next week.
Glad to see another Off The Shelves segment Cody. It's been too long.
Love this long form content Cody. Keep it up man!
With beyond The spider verse, it is a little frustrating that you don’t get the full story but it feels like it’s leading to something epic
Solid massive Blu-ray haul.
My thoughts:
Creed 3 - a great film and great directorial debut with Michael B. Jordan
Across the Spiderverse - my favorite film of 2023. Beyond, wherever year, I'll be waiting to see how this lands
Infinity Pool - so weird and out there but I kinda liked it. Mia Goth is making her stance.
Prey - kick-ass film.
Avatar: The Way of Water - cool movie but too damn long for a simple story, Cameron
Scream 6 - has some issues but I had fun
The Last of Us - loved the show as someone who's never played the games. Can't wait Season 2
Renfield - so underrated.
Guardians 3 - I loved it. Despite the MCU drama, I'm still gonna support and criticize them
Mario Bros. - had a lot of fun minus the voice of Donkey Kong but wasn't Rogens fault
John Wick 4 - should be the end of the franchise of the main film. Ballerina, I'm intrigued.
Cobweb - should've been marketed and done better
No Hard Feelings - lots of divided responses but I was genuinely surprised. Jennifer Lawrence was pretty good here and that beach fight was crazy to the point where I said "WTF?!!". Thank you, someone agrees with me that comedy shouldn't be destroyed by sensitivity of society and it's supposed to take risks
Older films
Carlito's Way - fantastic film
Ginger Snaps - personally I did enjoy it
Fantasy Island - meh guilty pleasure but I hated the twist with Lucy Hales character
Malignant - crazy 2021 horror film I enjoyed
Slender Man - godawful film that was so bad I had to see The Meg on my birthday just to get the bad taste out of my mouth
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - really great
Chucky 4-8 - enjoy them mostly. Seed is not a good movie but it's a guilty pleasure
Thelma and Louise - Great film
Vacation - entertaining film
Single White Female - interesting one
Upgrade - just plain awesome
The Possession of Hannah Grace - not amazing but kinda underrated with a solid performance from Shay Mitchell
What We Do in the Shadows - fun vampire mockumentary film
The Turning - was horrible. Ending was bad too
Intruder was terrible
The First Purge - was decent
Craft Legacy - I didn't mind
Brotherhood of the Wolf, I should be interested so I'll see it.
What I Got:
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie (back in June)
Birthday Gifts:
- Shoot Em Up
- the Alien Anthology on Blu-ray
- AVP: Unrated Edition (unfortunately they forgot the movie disc)
- Star Wars 1-3 and 4-6 (despite missing a special features disc)
- The Lord of the Rings (extended editions)
- The Social Network
- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011 Fincher version)
This was a fun one. I actually liked Cobweb more than Talk to Me. Fuck Bestbuy! Can't wait for the updated movie collection video. Maybe do separate video for TV shows instead of combining them.
Love your reviews. You are so honest and don’t hold back if something is just shit!
I loved watching the directors commentary for Talk To Me. Can't wait for Talk 2 Me!
24:56 PREACH CODY, PREACH!!!!!!! bring back comedy
glad i'm not the only one stocking up on physical media. remember people...if you cant physically hold it you dont own it
I was really suprised how much i liked No Hard Feelings. (Not just cause of the Beach scene lmao) the Maneater piano performance was really good too
And i was like, did cody actually stop buying phisical media! Thank god he didn't
The Town That Dreaded Sundown is creepy as hell. It's loosely based on a true story, but only loosely. Watch it at night, with the lights out. The Turning was borderline abysmal, and it has no ending, it just stops. It seems like the final reel of the film was missing.
❤ these Videos .. ADDing this to my FAV Vidz.. i love bluray collection vids.. Wish u great Health. keep them coming
Finally another off the shelves episodes!! Let’s go!
Same
I honestly wasn't expecting much from Memoirs of an Invisible Man but I really enjoyed it. The fx hold up pretty well for a 90s movie and Sam Neill is great in it
I'm starting my collection really soon
Never mind about, "The Turning". The best adaptation of Henry James, "The Turn of the Screw" is, "The Innocence" with Deborah Kerr. It's an absolute classic ghost story. One of the most affecting and powerful films I've ever seen.
I died laughing from your prey story!
Love your reviews you are so honest about movie reviews Cody
Man what a haul and definitely worth the wait. I came VERY close to buying the blu-ray for Prey but I waited and was lucky enough to purchase and own the steelbook of it
“Gothic chick that spends a lot of headspace in dark places and has a chip on your shoulder for society” I feel so attacked lmfao
Hahaha
27:40 I feel attacked lol🤣 (and yes I have a Ginger Snap poster)
I can just agree with him on Upgrade. It is fantastic.
Loved your commentary on comedy. Someone once said that tragedy + time = cpmedy and that's the best definition I've ever heard of it.
Excellent statement about comedy, it’s so true!
I rented Ginger Snaps from Blockbuster during my first semester at college in the fall of 2001 and it's been my favorite horror movie ever since.
As a small kid Dr giggles really scared the crap out of me. I didn’t mention being sick for years 😂. When I did have to go it’s was ok this is where it ends. Love you mom n dad.
Surprisingly, I was able to order the Prey steelbook from BB today. Hopefully, I'll receive it.
Hi Cody, I'm a female subscriber who really appreciates & enjoys your videos. This is the first Unboxing video I've seen & I like it, as you do brief Reviews of all the movies you've seen.👍 I Must tell you that I too Loved the movies Cobweb, Renfield, Upgrade, & certain other films you've praised, & tho I've not devoted the time to watch it yet, I still really want to see The Batman, & to rewatch Malignant.😊
Love watching these videos and I definitely have been missing them. Horror pack sounds like a really awesome service but those last few packs had some of the worst movies of recent years in them so idk what the hell that was about 😂
Some great pick ups. Glad to see a new physical media video.
@Cody quite the haul. Thanks for the upload some real gems here :)
Physical media is in such a state of flux it’s refreshing to see someone still celebrating it. Earlier tonight I placed an order from GRUV for discount blu-rays & even DVDs. I’m noticing that newer 4K UHD discs are now solo without the inclusion of blu-ray, so I am not buying those just yet because I lack the Ultra HD player. Which one do you have? Recommendation?
23:25 it's on Netflix
I enjoyed Obstacle Corpse. A cheap & cheerful Horror/Comedy. Worth a look.
Emelie is worth watching, pretty dark one. Spree is tight.
Cody what you said about comedy movies is fucking brilliant and 100% accurate. That deserves to be a short itself. Great haul too
Oh that Staind hat! The pain!
I haven't bought much this month. Last month I picked up Talk to Me, Pearl, X, Cobweb, Mission Impossible 6 movie set and Dead Reckoning 🎉
Thanks Cody. I was on the fence about watching Talk to Me. Im going watch it tonight 😁
Cody you’re killing me with that ROBOCOP shirt, those bitches sold out immediately on gutter garbs!
35:15 had no idea they made a remake to toxic avenger. Watched this on tv back when G4 tv was relevant
Dude, I totally agree with you about Carlitos Way The best Al Pacino movie even though Scarface is amazing as well I love Carlitos Way so much man!
Detention to me is a great underrated movie. I got to meet Josh Hutchinson at a restaurant when he was filming in my state it was cool and I got to shout out this film and he was like dude fuck yeah. He was shocked I mentioned it. It is time travel, scream like, 90s nostalgia, satire mix all in a pot. Witch is funny cause I think it predated a lot of movies now that do a lot of that so I recommend! Just be worried it's a mixing pot and won't be what you think at times lol
I really wish that I could have a real collection of those movies.. It's fucking crazy I really love movies!
Cody you're gonna need more shelves
The town that dreaded sundowns actually great hope you review it soon I saw it recently for October and damn it’s good
I always waited for your blu ray haul keep it up and also is there a chance you’ll get Fast X
Obstacle Corpse, never heard of it but damn you sold it I’m going to check it out
Instantly regretted
I rewatched Malignant recently...and I enjoyed it even more second time round...a lot of fun. Malignant and Barbarian..two of the most fun horror films in recent years...they make a good double feature
Detention is very off the wall but fun as hell don’t go into it expecting a serious film but a definite recommendation
Ever since I saw your recommendation for Cobweb Cody I checked it out. Really enjoyed it overall and have been recommending it to a bunch of people. Such a unpredictable horror film.
Emelie was pretty decent from what I remember. I think me and my family have seen it when I was still in elementary, and I remember feeling uncomfortable with some of the scenes. It's a short movie, I'm not so sure though how much it holds up since I haven't seen it again ever since, but try checking that one out 😊
Your Terminator statue bust looks cool Cody.
Jonh Wick 4 in cinéma was a blast Amazing
I too enjoyed Malignant and don't understand why Malignant was so reviled. I understand not enjoying Malignant, but some have ridiculed it and that's unfair.
It's so much fun
Cobweb isn't perfect, but damn was it a fun watch and has a good vibe throughout most of it.
Between Talk to Me and When Evil Lurks, which do you like more?
The Toxic Avenger boxset looks GREAT!
I'm surprised you didn't get the Exorcist 4k or the Psycho Collection 4k from Arrow. I've only very recently started collecting physical media, so this was a really cool video.
Cobweb is on Hulu now
I'm glad you got sent Fantasy Island. That's a fun bad movie you should check out!
Spell is like Misery with voodoo
I'll watch Avatar after I get around to watching E.T.!😂
Oh yea, Off The Shelves is without question my fav series to watch. I think you'll enjoy "Pig" when you get the chance. I'm a huge fan of the Chucky movies, but Seed will never make it to my Blu Ray Shelves, lol.
Review dr. Giggles... I saw it was a kid remember liking it, haven't seen it since
Hey did you ever review bullet train IS Amazing i watched back in cinéma i think was in may 2022 or april
If it makes you feel better alot of those steelbook orders for prey showed up damaged
You the man Cody
I loved Across the Spider-Verse and I did have fun with The Super Mario Bros Movie. Thanks for making more great content, Cody!
Thanks for another great and fun video, always love hearing your takes on stuff because i do agree on a lot of stuff and find great new films thanks to your vids.
I do think you must be a little nuts that you thought John Wick 3 was the worst one, as it seemed easily the best one, especially as far as action goes. 4 was as good maybe a slight bit less but i did love 4 and all the John Wicks are so fun to rewatch! Favorite film this year was MI:7 which i was surprised by due to the "Part One" at the end but i thought it had some surprising emotional beats that really worked for me and it did feel like a complete movie on its own.
Lastly, thank you, Cody for loving the Phantasm movies so much. Would never have watched them otherwise (had completely forgotten they existed) but i bought the collector's edition blu ray that has the first two and an awesome poster. First one is a very good but strange film. I liked it for its originality but it was a little too weird in some spots but part 2 rocked!! One of the best horror movies ever.
Carlitos Way is amazing! Cody, I've heard your thoughts on random gangster movies over the years and if you get a chance would love to hear your top 10. Its probably my favorite subgenre. Would recommend Un Prophete if you haven't seen it
Would be interesting to see a review series of at least a couple of the more unknown horror pack titles
These are some great movies.
Am I the only one that knows Cody already bought Knock At The Cabin
Fantasy island isn't perfect but it has it's moment actually
I have a friend who likes buying blu rays snd physical media. But he has a problem and its an addiction at this point lol. If there is a movie he didnt like or even hated, but if he sees the blu ray of it on sale (not even a good sale) or like an exclusive, limited or steel version of it, he will buy it! Just to have it! Its ridiculous lol i mean i guess he could be hooked on meth, but instead he has a physical media addiction. He still buys cds and dvds as well.
Hey Cody…..
Long time fan
Detention is TOTALLY worth it…. Knowing we’ll that it’s a South Park style parody of high school slashers Tailor made for people who were teenagers in the 90s
Dane cool was actually funny and has some decent kills and plenty of WTF moments
Does PREY have bonus features on it? If so, are there several?
I still don't get why connectors/ppl in general buy movies they don't like 😂 12:24 (understandable if it's part of a series, but not stand alone movies)
100% percent agree with spider-man Across the spider-verse. It was a great movie and beautiful but not as good as the first and the ending was unsatisfying forsure
Didn't know you collected physical media and watching your rankings as a horror fan I was always like this dude has to be a collector or he is missing out on cool horror releases
I think don't quote me in Million Dollar Baby Clint Eastwood enterpted anime style
I was hesitant on The Last of Us show cause of the incredible track record or terrible video game adaptations but after tlou came out I have hope that the studios will see this show and take notes on how to be loyal to the source material while doing just enough to bring in new fans who are not familiar with said source material
You’re hilarious, man.
Cody....thoughts on the new STAIND album?!
PS: Cody, awhile ago I saw Slender Man on cable & I too think it was Awful! As for "The Conjuring the Devil made me do it" I Liked but didn't love it the way I love the Conjuring & Conjuring 2. Oh & a few nites ago I saw Spree for the first time, & I liked it.😊
Love your channel! Where can I send you some cool shit?
I definately thought into the spider verse was much better than across the spider verse just my opinion but ill give it a rewatch sometime
What is horror pack?
It’s been a while… 🎶
2:29 I hope talk to me is good
Talk to Me and When Evil Lurks (thank you for the recommend cody) are my favorite horror flicks of the year. To be fair, i haven't really seen any others being most of it looks weak and repetitive
I'm a fan
Cody leach
To Your Last Death was alright
Movies that scared anabele creation malignant ring u own them great movies
Where thé çraft movie go😂😂😂😂
I really was p*ssed at the ending of spiderman across the spider verse also im not a fan of pt 1 pt 2 films most of the time because i hate that the first movie is always left hanging for a couple years with so many unanswered questions thats more of a show type of thing that i love but not when it comes to movies no thank you
