      That depends which base he might have missed, since it would have been the third out. In short, it would show up as a timing play, so if BR missed 1st or 2nd base, R1 would probably not have scored before the last out of the game.

    • @ekdar123

      @@arinerm1331 the timing portion is when the appeal takes place (after all runners have scored), not their relative position when the base was missed. If the batter missed first, no runs score. If the batter misses 2nd, 3rd, home, two runs will score

    The sad part about the missed base... I lost count years ago at how many missed bases I've seen that never got called simply because the defense NEVER appealed them. I see at least 5 every HS season... I've only ever called one out.. because that's all that was appealed.

    • @jimpagano2343

      years ago I had bases in a playoff game, my brother had the plate. No outfield fences, batter hits a rocket for a solo HR in the top of the 7th (in a 7 inning game) to take a 1 run lead, but misses 2B. Defense appeals 3B, which he touched. I told my brother, "the only way the miss of 2B would be more obvious is if a firework and light display goes off when a base is touched." Home team tied it in the bottom half, and in total we played 15 innings.

    • @1969EType
      @1969EType 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed...it's incredible. I work 5 HS games a week and I see at least 2 missed bags a week and only ever call someone out on appeal perhaps once or twice per season. If I were coaching, I would have a member of my staff whose sole gameday responsibility was getting touches. As we see here...could be the difference between winning and losing.

    • @ronpeacock9939
      @ronpeacock9939 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@1969EType Yup.. fully agree. I had one partner who used to coach and he actually used to teach his players to intentionally miss bases early in the game to test the boys in blue but also the other team. First, by short cutting third (and maybe a few others) you get a guy home quicker... but they were seeing if the other team was going to call them out on it.. according to him.. they were rarely called out on it. But I agree, I'd put one coach just on watching base touches for the other team... quite a few free outs can be obtained that way.

      @@ronpeacock9939Please tell me you're making stories up on the Internet because I'd be damn sure my team is guaranteed to mercy rule the opponents every game or that's the most moronic and reckless strategy I've ever heard. And for what return? They catch it and appeal so now you trade a run/potential run to know you have to touch all the bases in baseball??? Or they don't catch it so now I know I can MAYBE get away with cutting third when the game is realllly on the line (which I didn't care about when gambling runs earlier). God I hope you're lying because this gets stupider and stupider the more I think about it.

      @@bobloblaw1180 Not sure where you're going with this... but at lower levels.. defensive teams don't pay close attention to touches.. and there are teams who WILL try to expoit that early.. late in the game they only try it when they've gotten away with it every time.. I never coached that simply because I'm more conservative. But I have seen HS coaches who've been there for years/decades who will play those games. An for guys like me being a rookie ump at the time, they'll try to play with me more (though again, the defense needs to appeal misses).. it's all in the game of cat and mouse that coaches play with each.. would I coach that? Hell no.. hell, 2 years or so a video went around that showed a runner short cut 3rd base and score.. and NEVER got appealed.. but because someone had video it go called out long after the umps could do anything about it... it happens and often.

    One the teammate saw her miss the plate and she knew the rule, she verbally told her teammate to go back and touch the plate.
    I asked her "How did you know not to touch your teammate?" She said: From you, when I was 9 years old. I never forgot that. (It then clicked, I said her team name and 'Catcher!?' she smiled and said ''Yep! And Thanks!"
    I also told her During an HR make sure someone is watching Home to make sure the hitter/runner touches ALL bases especially Home." (Players often are excited and looking at their teammates ready to celebrate as are teammates and often come close to missing home. Also say 2-3 runs score, always watch the 2nd as he/she is ready to celebrate with first runner and on deck batter and the 3rd usually ends up sliding. It happens ALOT.

    It's time for the league to give some long suspensions and heavy fines for threatening the umps. This anarchy is getting out of hand.

      I have come to the conclusion that there is a baseball manager/coach arguing school. Attendees are taught how to stand, different types of postures, how to emphatically shake their head, etc..I say this because every time they come out of the dugout to argue, one of them does the same things.

    Bunch of questions about base touch appeal due to piss poor camera work. Which ump ruled on the appeal. Runner was pissed at PU but U3 would have the touch in college. MiLB we don't know but U3 would make sense as PU has three touches to check at HP. When was the ball put back in play? Last we see PU toss the ball to pitcher who is stepping off and throwing to 3B as PU is walking back to HP and hasn't put ball in play. Did they tell F5 to throw back to the pitcher so PU could put it in play properly and then a proper appeal was made.

    I think if a batter has a timeout remaining and is called for a clock violation, he should be able to choose to retroactively use the TO to avoid a strike call. Kinda like in the NFL teams can opt to use a TO instead of a 10 second runoff, even delay of game refs will be lenient in letting coaches take a TO to avoid a penalty.

    What is the player upset at the umpire about? If he was the one who missed the base, he should be mad at himself. If he was not the one who missed the base, he should be mad at his teammate who did. The grief heaped on umpires by players and coaches is very unprofessional. What a hump...
