Agreed! Rob just graded our new video for Vogue Arabia (out in a few days) using Nitrate and we were blown away by what Nitrate allows you to do... and how well he did it!
hey Rob. really interesting- I read your blog- couldn't quite understand the third node. What kind of LUT do you use in the third node. Is it a special one to transform CINEON footage?
It's a film print LUT, I used - juanmelara.com.au/blog/print-film-emulation-luts-for-download-old - this older film print LUT by Juan Melara for this :)
It's located on my old site, which I left up, but I haven't got around to changing the links in the description yet - but since I'm here, I will do it now! Apologies! :) You can find it here - robelliscinematography.squarespace.com/blog
great hint to use FilmConvert with Cineon Log! Have you also tried this in Resolve using ACES? is it working? I did not find Cineon in ACES Input Transform, tried the ADX10 which seems to work, however when using a film print LUT (made for Cineon) at the end of the grade it made the grade washed out. Which is suspected because the output has already changed due to ACES.
Hey, so ADX10 is more to give you a filmic starting point similar to Cineon, but LUTs aren't going to work well in an ACES workflow. I'm actually updating my previous colour grading tutorial at the moment which utilises ACES and color space transform to allow the use of LUTs!
Very nice, Rob! I’m really trying to get into using Cineon Log. Watching many videos. Good stuff!
Thanks Rob, I love your work and I'm very grateful for the cg breakdown on your website. Keep doing great stuff.
awesome video and write-up, thanks Rob! If anyone has questions about FilmConvert Nitrate, let us know in the comments

@@TiddlyFilms just saw that on Instagram - great work! We'll share with our followers on social
@@FilmConvert Awesome - thank you! We just posted the 4k version on here. Absolutely loving Nitrate!
What's new?
Why film convert can't take a Shutter speed controller?
Fantastic stuff! I recently picked up a micro and have been really interested in film convert.
Probably the most bang for your buck out of any camera.
@2:00 Looks Amazing.. How did you achieve this look(Lighting + Camera setting)? Thanks
Are you using the Rec709 Koji 2383 lut for the print?
Hey man, your work is gorgeous. Do you use any filtration on your lenses to get closer to the texture of film?
This is looking gorgeous!
seriously impressive stuff here
Magical music. Do we know who it is? I'm trying to make music like this my self. Arps, beautiful ambience.

@@RobEllisCinematographer Are the PFE LUTs from this link different from the ones in his March 2020 post?
THANKS, ROB FOR THIS,
Great quality
Hi Rob. The link to your write-up is broken. I would like to read it. Is there anywhere it is still available?
@rob ellis turns out a large chunk of the links on your page are 404 errors at the moment not just the write up.
