    I met this girl back in my hometown in Denmark, she came up and asked if I owned an Aprilia (yes my bike) parked next to my parents' house. Apparently she rode too, owned an RC390. She invited me over to just talk and take a look at her bike, it's such a cool machine! And cool chick too. I didn't know anyone who rode bikes, so I was really caught off guard when she just approached me and started talking with me about bikes and stuff.
    We were supposed to go on rides together, but unfortunately she was going on vacation to Egypt for some time and when she came back home I had to move to Italy to study at uni.. so we never got to actually ride together :( But hey girl from Espergærde with an RC390, if you are out there; You're awesome and your KTM is super cool :)

    My first RC390 could do a little under 110 mph on level ground, which is actually pretty good for a stock small displacement thumper. I put a pipe and a power commander on my new RC390, and changed the gear ratio a little, so now does a little more the original speed with an extra 1k revs, but has noticeably more torque... my seat is also WAY harsh over stock because I got a TYGA solo tail, so it's just fiberglass with a hard foam pad glued to it.

    I bought this as my first bike and I fell in love with riding as a result. I can attest to how "flickable" it feels, and how nice it feels to downshift. I personally have ridden this for 2 hrs at a time and is very comfortable. The fan is loud and the gas seemingly always needs filled, but every twisty road brings a smile to your face. On the freeway I can easily pass anyone quickly and 85 mph feels very comfortable. Yammie, after this bike what will bike #2 be given that I love this bike so much? Only reason I dont have it is because the wife wanted to ride so I got a bigger bike. I got it up to 100 myself. My first bike was a 2016 R3 which I still have and love. My second bike is a 2017 ZX10R. Other than having literally five times the power of my R3, the rider position/ergonomics is the biggest thing to get used to on the bike. I am kind wishing I would have got the KTM instead of the R3 because I think it would’ve prepared me better for riding a true Supersport.

However in many other states there are no minimums, the honda Grom (50cc top speed of like 58mph) is actually legal in many states including Texas. Though ill advised... Killer bike for the track, even for experienced riders, but for the street i would pick the Duke 390. Same basic bike but way more ergo friendly and it inspires full hooligan mode with a more upright sumo type position where the RC390 is really for getting that knee down on track and not so much Dank whirlies or everyday commuting. But if you enjoy riding a torture device on the street and are going to be the next Valentino Rossi then have at it, go have you some fun on your sexy 390.

    • @notyours586
      @notyours586 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ride them both. If you want super sport positioning go with the 390. I'm biased but the RC390 seems like the best beginner (super sport style) bike. Get a tail tidy and remove rear passenger pegs it'll look daaamn sexy

    • @piayarider7542
      @piayarider7542 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's for commuting on a regular basis, get an R3 or a Ninja 400. Your back will thank you. The rc390's positioning is very much like a super sport (i.e. really, really hunched over) compared to those two, which can be classified as sport-touring. Price-wise, they're all about the same brand new. Power wise, R3 comes last at 42 horsepower, follow by the RC390's 44hp, and with the Ninja having the most at either 44 or 48, depending on where you live (weird, I know)

    • @piayarider7542
      @piayarider7542 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, and the R3 and the Ninja both have twin cylinders, while the RC390 is a single. So at higher speeds, twins are much smoother, and let's be honest, sound better too :)

    • @Divine0198
      @Divine0198 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply guys. What I'll probably end up doing is getting an R3 for the street and commuting duties. Then when my state gets it track built I'll dedicate a 390 to being my track bike, race fairings and all. Im excited already

I waited so long to get my license and now I finally am able to ride, however I'm kind of afraid now. Is this normal? Because before I started to ride the RC, I rode a 50ccm and I was fckin hyped to get my license.

    I'm always on the highway (motorway) with my 390 duke. I can imagine it's a little more comfortable on a bigger bike, but I've ridden for 5 hours straight at a blustery 70-80+mph. Hit a topspeed of 98 on the duke. RC will undoubtedly be a little faster.

      As far as I know the 1 Cylinder Motor does not like constant Rpms over a long period of time. I am clearly not an expert, but I have heard several experts over the time argue that this motor is best used like an offroad machine. constant change of rpms is the way to go. And to be honest thats when these small bikes make the most fun too. twisty mountain roads is the perfect terrain. And I would never go for a ride when I would have to drive straight ahead for more than 15 minutes. But I don´t daily commute, I just ride for fun. Carefull on the oil intervall changes. Especially if u use your bike the way u do, be sure to change oil sooner then what ktm says. Oil dilution can make some pretty amazing engine breakdowns. Be safe on the road my fellow bike brother!

    • @oxide_fx
      @oxide_fx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@florianwagner6846 Cheers mate. It's not ideal, I know. Was making a point that it is more than possible on a smaller displacement bike to do those kinds of distances if you want/need to. It's certainly no fun at all, that's for sure. Thankfully won't have to do it for much longer soon. And yeah, I'm changing oil every 6mo (which ends up being 3-4k miles). We don't want any of that nonsense happening on the road!

    • @florianwagner6846
      @florianwagner6846 5 ปีที่แล้ว

For the street, Gixxer is definitely better. But I missed not having the RC on the track. 155cc turned out to be too little for a big track like the BIC.
