I certainly do! But you’re right about the picture; My mistake for not noticing when watching it through prior to publishing! We’ll have to fix that. Video about the Erie Canal coming soon with more than enough photo cred! 📷
Great video, sadly with the recent on set of violent shootings (two triple homicides, police officer ambushed and killed with another shot, along with the daily breaking news of another shooting in the same area with all the local municipalities patrolling our streets along with MCSO & state troopers…) in the last two weeks let alone month, it probably won’t help the market you’re in!! If I wasn’t already here I’d reach out to you in regards to learning more though!!
@@TacoCrisma lol let’s be honest; with the subsidized housing programs out there, the local government is trying to push the hood in the downtown area as well as the Winton Rd parts of the city as well. Unless you live near the border of Brighton or Irondequoit, then the hood will soon reach a neighborhood near you as well. It is what it is, no disrespect to your opinion but working for the city, we see the progression of what’s happening.
You can live very comfortably on 45k a year. If you have a lot of debt and kids, you’ll want to make 60-100k a year. If you have a spouse and your combined income is 100-120k you’ll be fine. NYS is not a cheap place to live, but typically the numbers reflect inflation. We pay a lot in taxes and see very little of the fruits of that as upstate NY is often forgotten to armpit of the state; NYC.

Don't do it! Unless you like pollution, gangs, drugs, murder, an empty downtown, 6 months of horrible cold weather, 4 months of horrible hot/humid weather. Trust me it's cheap for a reason. And you better have a job already..... When rents are so high and buying is so cheap, that is *not* a good sign......
@@MattCouzensMusic Hey Matt! Thanks so much for watching! I totally get it; parts of the city definitely have their challenges with crime (as with all cities), it does get super cold and dark in the dead of winter, and we do definitely have some humid days in the summer, but overall, it really is a nice area and weather isn't always the primary motivation for people to move to or from an area (although I admit it helps. I moved out of the area to southern California for a short time a few years back and the weather was absolutely perfect but it certainly wasn't enough to keep me there). Rents are definitely on the high side right now due to the shortage of inventory in the real estate market; we have A LOT of people looking to buy, but still have lower than average inventory, so it's pushing people into rentals, either short or long term, while they're continuing their home search. Home values have risen quite a bit in the past 2 - 3 years and we anticipate that they will still continue to rise as there's no indication of demanding slowing down any time soon!
@@MattCouzensMusic Also, I love the music on your channel. My grandpa was a musician and played several instruments including the clarinet so it brings back some great memories! Thank you for sharing!
Top 4 Cons: 1) VERY high taxes ($300,000 house you would pay $8 - 9K a year (~$700 month) and high sales tax rate of 8% on almost everything you buy 2) High violent crime rate (was 48th murder rate in US in YR 2020) 3) Unless you ski, winters are long (Nov - March) 4) Do your research on Rochester school district and dismal graduation rates Top 3 Pro's: 1) Surrounded by fresh water 2) Great golfing 3) Reasonable traffic
1.) A 300k house is a new build in the suburbs or a mansion in the older neighborhoods - especially when market prices cool back down. Taxes are high but real estate is relatively low compared to the rest of the US. 200k will get you a 3br 1400 sq ft house in a decent neighborhood on the west side, henrietta, or irondequoit. I guess if you’re looking in Brighton, Pittsford, or Webster - sure 300k is average. 2.) moot point unless you live in the ghetto. That’s where it all happens. Don’t go into those neighborhoods and you’re fine. The rest is pretty spot on. Winters suck but summers are very nice here especially by the water.

I understand the purpose of this video is to aid in your profession, but ethically, it is really not a good idea to try to draw people to a location that has a very high homicide rate, a very high homeless rate, a history of unsolved homicides and a pattern of ignorance that has never made proper changes after the horrors of Arthur Shawcross, people come up missing daily in Rochester, there is a huge drug problem, it is a very racist community, the water is still polluted and the judical system works against the philosophy of family first, which explains the abundance of children centers such as Hillside, Westfall and St Joseph aka Villa of Hope. Ethically, the truth is, Rochester New York is more dangerous to live than New York City and is ranked one of the highest in the nation for crimes. The cost of housing, including a house should be reduced by those crime indexes but the overall community of Rochester is money hungry idiots.

Psst. The Genesee River isn't the Erie Canal.
Already know this. That’s why both are mentioned in the video!
