I find it interesting that there are so many comments here criticizing the honoring of the incredible way one TV show honored and represented the top of our government, coming from people who no doubt revere a reality tv celebrity who was, in fact, a lying cheat and fraud. I thought this event was lovely, and watching Martin Sheen again perform...the man has certainly still got it!!!
Because this is legit a waste of time, and why recognize praise people who get praised constantly, the show is old AF it will not inspire the next generation to want to be politicians, since they'll never watch it. should have brought the people, that actually keep society running and never get a thank you for what they do. Actors and celebrities could disappear tonight and the world would still function. This whole thing is literally a work meeting that could have been an email. They could have thanked the show and that BS on a social media post.
@@time4sanity maybe at some other time, but we have people who cannot put food on a table. We have people who cannot pay their rent. We have people you cannot afford to put clothes on their kids. We have people who cannot afford to put gas in the car and the number one we have a ton of homeless peopleand instead they take the time to celebrate some elite guy praising him when I could’ve took all that time, money and resources and helped other people.
People that don't understand the importance of this fail to realize the prominence of the White House and The President. The role of the President doesn't end with policymaker, but also the head of state and chief citizen. This means they have an important role to recognize groups and individuals that do great work. While Aaron Sorkin and lot told us stories, the work had a ripple effect that encouraged people to join the forces that make the government continue onwards. And in this case, perhaps, show us the idyllic version of what it means to be The President.
I’m saddened to see you and so many others miss the point of the show. It’s about what commitment to public service is all about. Neither party is perfect. What bothers many today is that too many people go into public service to make themselves rich. As a result, the citizenry suffers. Corporate greed runs rampant. Chronic disease rate is skyrocketing as a result of lack of limits to toxins in our food. Food subsidies for those foods that are the most toxic. And even more government subsidies to the medical profession to treat symptoms and not root cause.
I'm sure this was really expensive. Probably cost a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the money the US spent today on destroying the world
West Wing reminded us that good people are everywhere doing their best to leave the world a better place...

Really?!?! A white house event for a TV show... really important and historic stuff.
Who hurt you? It's a quick event for a transformative show...half the things most governments do is symbolic lol this isn't new
