I thought it was extraordinarily executed. It had a nobility about it and the quality of the original writing was evident in how the reassembled cast could so seamlessly slip back into their characters. Meanwhile, the economy of the settings was a consummate lesson is 'less is more'. Put in a door frame and you had a room, those pools of light to mark out a corridor and even the car door and seat of the president's limo. Masterly. Elsewhere in these comments someone says they would have preferred to see a new script, but having recently rewatched whole chunks of the series I was struck by how relevant the writing remains. Particularly in the light, or should I say the darkness, of the Trump era.
Thinking about Sterling K Brown's Leo is such a fascinating exercise. He's relatively young, carries himself like he's been in the military, he's the Chief of Staff, he's obviously a close confidant of the President, and yet he's also detached from the rest of the group, his mannerisms very different, colder, more precise, less jovial. What kind of career must he have had to get him into this position at this age, amongst all these people? Where did he learn to carry that weight? Wield that authority with such grace? What I'm saying is I want a reboot with this exact cast.
I actually don’t think Brown was the right pick. Not for any reason other than, he couldn’t emulate the warmth and charm of Leo. Also the dry wit. Sterling seemed more serious and businesslike. I actually think Harrison ford would have killed it after seeing him in Shrinking
One of the best shows on television! I miss all of the actors together! They were an an incredible group of artists and their reunion was heartwarming!!!!!
Aaron Sorkin is a genius! The West Wing was a great tv show. A spin off of American President. We need more movies & tv shows promoting our democracy & bring unity back to our country. Thanks for uploading. First time watching this.
A fabulous "Get Out and Vote" edition of TWW tomes. My wife and I binge the entire series every Presidential election year. We began in 2016 to remind ourselves what America can and should be! Such great writing! It amazes me that the issues of the television show are still relevant now.
What artistic brilliance to envision such a thing and then see it to fruition! Just magical. I love them all even more for doing this and appreciate them all even more for this glimpse into how it happened.
It occurs to me that The West Wing could work as a stage play. The original actors may be too old to reprise their roles, but some version of the show might just prove incredibly compelling. It might add interest if real historical figures - real Presidents, Senators, staff, and journalists could have roles.
I binged on The West Wing through a very rough time. This brought me through the rest of 2020 and helped me welcome 2021 and re-invite Hope, Faith, Humanity and Humility back into our lives via a New Presidential Administration.
Thank you for sharing. Thank you for making this reunion. It meant so much to me to see it, not just as a fan of The West Wing, but as a performer, and an American, it came at such an important time in the pandemic. It was outstanding from start to finish, and as a performer, this would be the first time I 100% agree with the choices the production team made to pull it off. It was Brilliant. Thank you, I can't say it enough.
Great show. And one of the very best episodes of the series. I will go to the grave (unless Lowe goes first) waiting and hoping for a spinoff with Sam running for President. Or maybe already into his first term. The line from this episode is what keeps me hanging on...
The only problem with doing this TWW special is that I would absolutely love now to see Sterling K Brown as Leo in the rest of the series bcuz he CRUSHED that role RIP John Spencer
Sadly, I just read a short article about Rob Lowe's very unhappy time on the series. It seems he never felt comfortable while working on the show. Egos, envy, etc etc. That last sentence is my words - not his. But I know how people filled with jealousy behave.
I don't suppose there's a recording of the actual show anywhere? I was captivated just by this fifteen minute clip, and would love to see the full show.
Well, I am not Tommy Schlamme... but I *have* watched a lot of TV and theatre in five decades of sentience, and my view is that -- just as with filming stageplays to make movies (NOTE: there is almost *certainly* on-stage HD footage of the Wicked OBC in a vault somewhere in these great United States; just sayin') -- the audience that wants to watch something like this is going to give you a Mulligan on the grand question of *what you do*, as long as you do it well. And of course Tommy was going to do it well.
Never realised they'd done this. West Wing was one of my favourite shows (even if I never fully understood the politics I could fully appreciate the fantastic acting). I'll have to look out of it.
I have been a very long time fan of the West Wing, and i had no idea this was made. It's a very decent copy of the original show, though there were a few funny changes. Such as CJ's fishbowl with the fake water. However, both in this youtube video as in the original reunion episode there was some one saying that "america is good at elections" and i can only imagine it was meant ironically. (13:12) Afterall, 53 million people voted for Madam President Clinton, versus 50 million for the idiot, and guess who got the Office in the West Wing. Then there was the time Al Gore became president, after which they funneled every laywer in the western hemisphere into Florida and somehow we got another Bush. Then, as stated in the episode, 26 states voted for making voting more difficult for people, which is a theme in The NewsRoom as well, and lets not even begin about gerrymandering... If anything, the United States' voting system, is the poster child for a better world through fascism. Unfortunately, it appears that its contagious, since my own country's election was hijacked by a similar idiot, by the name of Geert Wilders...
Though my views have swung considerably more conservative since watching the series “back in the day” I will always love the characters and the pithy banter. I only wished I had been paying more attention to the goings on of the real West Wing than this one… maybe if more of us had done so, we wouldn’t be in such a mess now. Lesson learned.
We need a revamp of this idea more than ever today, to encourage people to vote in November in these most dangerous times and threats to our countries democracy.
They need to start a new west wing series with CHARLIE as the president. Start with the campaign and then him swearing in to be the president in season 1
I thought it was a great show and never watched a single episode whilst on TV. Only saw it when the series was given to me as a DVD gift. The one scene that I wish they had not done was Alison Janney doing the jackal. It was sexist and gratuitous. Her character must have fought hard against it and in the end she lost. In hindsight, the series, while on of the best I have ever seen certainly had its cringe producing moments. The scene with Josh and Sam congratulating each other for having one night stands is certainly one, Toby had too many patronizing and insulting comments - too many to count, Bartlett looking up in the sky asking a Mars rover to "talk to us." and the worst of all - Josh imitating Marlee Matlin's voice and pronunciation of words as a deaf person. OMG how rude and insensitive.
Maybe my comment is in the minority here but - I thought the reunion was a lazy effort. Why not just write a new, original story and actually film a new episode. West Wing was a great series, and deserved much better than this feeble reunion.
Rob Lowe is MAGA before Trump. This fine individual played games with other actors and created an atmosphere with Aaron Sorkin that resulted in the show turning into 💩.
The West Wing is an achievement. Everything in it, from the writing to the acting, is superb. It's inspiring.
I thought it was extraordinarily executed. It had a nobility about it and the quality of the original writing was evident in how the reassembled cast could so seamlessly slip back into their characters. Martin at the podium outside the White House for the anniversary of TWW recently showed he can still deliver a presidential speech

New West Wing content makes today a great day in my eyes
I could watch and listen to Tommy talk about the West Wing for hours.
This was such a brilliant production of an all time great tv show. And casting Sterling was pitch perfect to honor great John Spencer.
One of the best shows on television! I miss all of the actors together! They were an an incredible group of artists and their reunion was heartwarming!!!!!
This is a literal masterclass in filmmaking. I wish I’d have had a chance to watch this in film school.
I loved this show so much! And this reunion was fantastic! This show, this cast, all of it, amazing.
Aaron Sorkin is a genius! The West Wing was a great tv show. A spin off of American President. We need more movies & tv shows promoting our democracy & bring unity back to our country. Thanks for uploading. First time watching this.

Thank you so much. I wasn't able to see this. I love The West Wing. We need The West Wing BACK!
It was so beautifully done. The only missing piece was Leo. The actor they used was great but still I missed Leo.
What artistic brilliance to envision such a thing and then see it to fruition! Just magical. I love them all even more for doing this and appreciate them all even more for this glimpse into how it happened.

Love, love, love this show.

I miss that show! I miss seeing those actors together! I miss those times! Mark in Milwaukee 🧀
As a Mark in Ireland, I agree!
👍
It’s time......President Seaborn
Tommy and Aaron - never better!
Gerald...😆
I don't suppose there's a recording of the actual show anywhere? I was captivated just by this fifteen minute clip, and would love to see the full show.
In the US it was originally shown on HBOmax, assumingly it's still there, but I don't know. Outside the US it's a little more tricky.
Prime has all 7 seasons.
@jod6984 I've got the DVD box set for all seven seasons I wanted to see this specific show. Not that I can vote in the US anyway.
One of my favourite series

Just finished rewatching TWW all 7 series, i absolutely loved it all over again. Brilliant writing, phenomenal acting. So sad ive finished it.
Would've preferred a one off special new episode(s), tho. Maybe someday...
It was beautiful.
When can we see this in England? 😔 huge fan & I haven’t been able to see it.
Makes my day!
Well damn, now I gotta go subscribe to HBO just to watch this.
Now my only question is where can I get a copy of the production?
Bit Torrent.
HBOMax
beautiful.
The best show ever! Watched it three times.
where can I watch this without HBO?
This is so nice...
How do I find this? I want to see the special
HBO max

Where can I watch this reunion?
It was released last year on HBOMax.
Where can I see this now?
Max is the streaming service in the US. I'm unsure where you can outside the US.
I wonder how I could get to see this.
Did you include a note to only vote once and don’t vote by post on behalf of your dead relatives, neighbours, friends, etc….?
‘I’m fine by the way, thanks for asking!’
Though my views have swung considerably more conservative since watching the series “back in the day” I will always love the characters and the pithy banter. Please rerun it now for the 2022 elections.
We need a revamp of this idea more than ever today, to encourage people to vote in November in these most dangerous times and threats to our countries democracy.
How they did an incredible reunion... and never let anyone outside the USA see it :-(
What special?
Martin was excellent as a republican president who pretended to be a democrat. Masterful.
They need to start a new west wing series with CHARLIE as the president. Start with the campaign and then him swearing in to be the president in season 1
Ohhhh
Is there a link to the whole show, please - pretty pretty please??????
You can type that question into TH-cam comments, but not type it into google and watch it?
@@totallybored5526 Correct.
It's on HBOMax
But we're not all in the US. I've tried watching on HBO Max via a VPN. Didn't work.

too much talking and no acting
Rob Lowe is MAGA before Trump. This fine individual played games with other actors and created an atmosphere with Aaron Sorkin that resulted in the show turning into 💩.
Please, I need more background on this. Can you explain?
