This is one of those songs I’d give everything to hear for the first time again. It’s an experience lol
I’ve heard this song a million times and i still get chills listening to that guitar solo
My favorite lyric is " there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on," a lyric had never hit me that hard, had goosebumps and it made me sit back and think for awhile
I remember my first time so vividly. End of a swing shift at Andersen Air Force Base in 1972. Co-worker with a great car stereo asked if I'd ever heard it and then convinced me to sit in his car, even though I badly wanted to get home. 8 Track, front and back speakers. Part of who I am.

I think you & I can agree that this song belongs in the pantheon of greatest rock songs, but allow me to make a suggestion: perhaps you may not have heard a piece of MODERN classical music: George Gershwin's 1930s masterpiece, RHAPSODY IN BLUE... I don't assert that it's better than 'Stairway', but I think that in its own way, it reaches the same heights of perfection! Anyway, be well...!
It’s definitely in the conversation. Bohemian Rhapsody is also there, Don’t Stop Believin’, Time by Pink Floyd… and if you prefer going more into a Metal style, there’s Holy Diver by Dio, Shogun by Trivium, Master of Puppets by Metallica. And those are just the genres I primarily listen to.

I was just starting high school with this album released. While there were some other insanely great releases back during that time, I played this album to death. It was also one of the most incredible releases to listen through headphones, along with Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Thx for a great review.

I agree you need to watch Heart perform Stairway. To Heaven at the Kennedy Center honors honoring Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant asked Jason Bonham who is John Bonham’s son to join them in his dad’s spot. Jason said he had a previous commitment so he couldn’t join them. Jason is playing the drums for Heart in their tribute.

Oh man you're gonna love exploring Led Zepp's catalogue. I'd suggest checking out The Battle of Evermore, it's a bit underappreciated but in my opinion it's one of their best. Also, I loved your take on the message of the song and your testimony. Keep it up my man!

borrowed there sound and beat.. Sherrel below recommended In My Time of Dying.. she is spot on.. to show you there power... in 2007, after 27 years after there break up. They did a one off concert at the O2 in London... when tickets were announced for sale.. over 20 million request in the first 2 weeks.. breaking all records and shutting down most of all the ticket centers world wide. Devin, this song is full of metaphors about redemption and salvation. Start with this sign that has two meanings, her name faith and the act of faith. All that glitters is gold is the streets of heaven. Looking to the west, crying for leaving, crying for your old life because the temples are in the East. You get the drift. No rock band is going to admit to writing a song about salvation, especially in the 1970's.

First time I heard this I became permantly blown away..still am 50 years later
I commented earlier on the Procul Harem video and mentioned Jeff Beck was ex Yardbirds as was Jimmy Page. Also Eric Clapton was in the Yardbirds. I saw them on stage here in Cambridge; not sure which one of the three mentioned was playing lead guitar then. Brilliant group. The song Is deep and a classic rock musical gem. It is a human view on IMO a deeper look into our souls be it right or wrong. We are what God has made. This song represents our emotion and outlook on what we want or believe what we want. But without God this song wouldn’t be possible. Great song musically and lyrically. Human expression here is at a very high level. This is a song most can enjoy for so many reasons.

HAWAII- taking away the stairway- Led Zeppelin has been fighting to keep,it - but lost.
They sang this song as a message to connect with the maker of all. People take advantage of God love and patience. The time will come when all will have made the choice to want and accept God offer or refuse. No one is force to accepted. Love pleads for all to want and accept. It never forces.

You have to understand, back in the 70s, we as teenagers partied by getting together and smoking a joint and listened to this music. Marijuana back then was mild and chilling. We just had our friends, good music and love.

Jimmy Page the lead guitarist came out of The Yardbirds as did Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck; They were one of the best UK groups of the mid ‘60’s. I saw them live in Cambridge UK; Keith Relph was their singer; not sure if you can pick up them on You Tube. Bless you and what you’re saying about Jesus is spot on true; He is who He says He is!
