What is great about your videos is not just the articulation of someone who plays and thus knows what it takes, but it's your generosity, your non-ego sheer appreciation of all music and all techniques.

Someone of this ability not being paid attention to... So right and sad... I have been a guitarist for a long time before becoming the opera singer and conductor many know, and I know what it takes, as you rightly said, years of super hard work on top of that God given talent! Tears of joy for her playing and for the hope in the future generations she clearly represents!

When I first heard her, I had the same reaction as you where you first broke in, - how will she be able to play those runs -?
Having played this piece ( on piano ) when I was younger I know how difficult it is. And she plays it on a guitar!!!!

Roxane Elfasci, played it flawlessly. if you close your eyes and listen to Roxane, play this piece one might forget that She is playing it on a guitar witch tell you how good She is. another great analysis on another great artist who is not well know. not many who could give great analysis on a vast ray of musical artist as You do Fil.

Its as though someone has been watching my play list. I do appreciate your commentary. Roxane was the first to tackle James Edwards composition note for note, and has done it So well. As with Anna, Roxane has the ability to draw out the "essence" of a note at their leisure. Extremely difficult. Top shelf talent is to be shared for the world to see. Your emotional response by the way is genuine, and mirrors that of all honest musicians who "know" the difficulty involved when conveying emotional content in such a moving way. There again thank you very much for the post.

Oooofff !!! Im still trying to catch my breath. That was the most beautiful version of Claire De Lune Ive ever heard. This lady should be playing at Carnegie Hall NOW ! She is different. I don't quite know how to articulate what Im thinking. This just took me away. Her fingers are so thin and she has such wonderful stretch. I noticed that she holds her guitar differently. It's more upright. I thought it might be on a stand but that would probably change the tone. At one point as she was getting toward the end, she made the guitar sound very resonant, and it became more of a hollow sound, a bit more bassy on the low strings. The ending was just mind blowing and at the very end she strummed up on the strings and that really got me. Im going right over and subscribe to her and let her know what Ive just said. Thank you, Phil, for turning me on to this amazing player. BTW, if you haven't heard it yet, listen to Tomita play this same piece electronically. The ending will take you out into the stars. Seriously.

Thank you Fil for your sharing not only your knowledge which helps me to listen in a different way but for your love of music and raw honesty in your assessments. You make me listen with a more critical yet open ear. As Zappa said music is the best. Question please does her, and others, talent automatically translate to other instruments?

    • @wingsofpegasus
      @wingsofpegasus  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It will do, but they still have to practise the techniques on the given instrument. So if you've spent 8 years practising daily on the guitar to be able to express through the instrument, you'll have to spend 8 years on piano to do the same. Fortunately with stringed instruments a lot of technique crosses over, violin, banjo, mandolin etc.

This video appeared in my TH-cam last Sunday afternoon. I haven't been listening to any classical music on TH-cam since I set up a new account yet there it was ,I can't really explain it other than as of now the only Debbusy piece I have listened to is Quartet in G minor a record I have by the Budapest String Quartet and play it fairly often recently. Yeah sometimes I think my phone is listening. So I saw that Roxane had posted this in classical guitar and had never heard Debbusy presented like that before. So I listened to it and she brought me to tears ....Really. What a beautiful rendition...still lacking words to do it justice. I knew it was extraordinary so I sent it to my sister who has been playing classical guitar for five decades . She absolutely agreed it was very beautiful. Oh and she also mentioned that it would not be possible for her to play because of the finger stretch necessary to do it. Roxane is very gifted in many ways. This piece is a priceless gem. I consider myself very fortunate to have found it. Your review is spot on nice work and thank you.

Very nice video. Her fingers are so slim, her hands look very spidery. What I like about it, the thin fingers contrasted with the dark fret board really shows the work that left hand is doing. I think watching classical guitarists with thicker fingers, that contrast isn't there. This is a great video! Thanks Fil, and I hope you get better.

Beautiful, beautiful, awesomely beautiful played! With her virtuoso command of the instrument she is putting all emotions and colours of that piece into sound. I am reminded on the way Kate Bush commands her voice, on what she does with colour, tone, tempo and volume.
It is the difference in between someone well trained for years to a high technical level of proficiency, and a real virtuoso player.

I was incorrect about who did this performance when I posted about your Ana Vidavic video yesterday. Thanks for finding the right video and featuring Roxane Elfasci! This performance is incredible in all respects. I ran across this several months ago and was floored by her playing of this song.

Roxanne as to be part Elastagirl from "The Incredibles" to be able to play so cleanly with as much stretching with her fretting hand. Amazing!

Good for you Phil... Classical guitar is a real culture. To quote José Feliciano.." Anyone can play rock but not classical guitar".

I'm sure she is appreciative of you showing her talent. I have watched this clip many times on you tube. I thing she is getting noticed. From the first time I saw her views on this piece grow enormously. I saw where she has the guitar here up for sale. I dont know why maybe shes done with it. I think YOU should have at least 750k subs.

I really like that arrangement. You can easily identify it with the original piano arrangement but it's very unique in it 's own way.

What caught my attention the first time I saw her was the way she held the guitar.

Great analysis of Roxane Elfasci's Clair de Lune... She has a few other videos out there, it would be great if you could analyze another
