I do metal and heavy rock, and sometimes blues. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should go with the chisel set or the chisel and anvil set. What do you think?
The Anvil is thicker sounding, the Chisel tighter and more percussive. If you play a lot of really fast metal riffing, I'd say Chisel. If you like high output and super fat tone, go Anvil.
We offer the Hyper Vintage Neck and the Chisel Neck, which both match up well with the Anvil. Check out the product page for more info on these models. Thanks! - JN
Do you know if Reba from Code Orange uses the Anvil or the Chisel? She used emgs before.. 8m looking for the heavy sound similar to hers, but don't dig actual actives. Mainly, I don't like the actual feel of actives, although I like the tones of many bands that use them.
Hi, I am struggling - my Washburn WI-64 (at the moment loaded with SD Phat Cats) shall be again a heavy rock axe, preferably tuned down to D or D#. I think about two variations - leaving the neck Phat Cat in there but modyfying it with different AlNiCo magnets to get a clearer, more defined, but still hot sound (A8/A3 for example, or AlNiCo 5 rod magnets instead of the bar magnets and the pole screws) and putting an Anvil into the bridge position (probably with parallel option via push/pull).
Ive got a gibson Dark fire robot and hate the burstbucker in the bridge, would you recommend the anvil or chisel in this guitar. i cant change the neck pickup because its a p90, odd sized pu so I have to try and find a comfortable match.
A set of Chisels is hard to beat for heavy rock. The cool thing about the Chisels, is you can riff on the neck pickup and it still has clarity. So I'd recommend the Chisels in both positions, unless you absolutely have to have that Phat Cat P90 tone in the neck. Railhammers sound good split too, but it's more like a strat tone than a P90 tone.

Nice Job Rick!
Chisel. It has tight lows and a slight upper-mid bump that increases clarity.
Im leaning towards the anvil for tonal breadth.
found a vetter p90, a phil x so would the chisel or the anvil> with a phil x p90? Thanks

what is the pickup that is in the neck and is there a match to the bridge pickup
Which bridge position humbucker work with Gibson SG played through a Vox AC30. I already have a Hyper Vintage neck in my SG.
part two :): Or would it be better to put in a set of Chisels, with a split option? Best regards, Dom

pricelist?
I'd go with the Chisel. More balls than the burstbucker, but should still match up volume-wise with that P90.
Interesting
P.S: my mistake, tuning will be D or Db :)
Dealers sell them for about $89 each. Check our dealer page to see who's carrying them. Thanks! - JN
Sorry, no sevens yet. Maybe in the future, we have to see how demand looks. - JN
