    Super video Prem. I was just thinking about this topic a week before. You read my mind. In our discussion, people were saying that we need to pay tax in both india and USA. Thanks for clarifying

      Thank u so much
      Definitely no need to pay on both countries for the earnings since double taxation agreement is effective between these countries

      @@ArthiPrem No, I heard there is a differential tax that people need to pay for the percentage difference in tax between India and USA . This is a very important and complicated topic when dealing with Money and people's health. You guys are doing good research and trying to share info to help people. But Please advice only if you are really qualified in those fields & or you have personal experience. Otherwise people can be easily mis-guided if you just do some research and post videos.

    Excellent video as usual. From 1st July 2023, there is 20% flat TCS on LRS deducted by bank before any INR to foreign currency transfer for which the RI or NRI has to file tax in the subsequent year and will liable for Income tax based on his or her tax and income slab. Having Form 15CB or CA (part 1 to 4) will not prevent from bank deducting TCS (Tax collected at Source) . Is my understanding correct Prem ?

    Hi Aarthi and Prem, you guys make awesome and very useful videos including english language in the US and maintaining tamil language skills as well. I just have one suggestion: Although you use mostly tamil words in your videos some words like outspoken and grocery (just an example) can be avoided because not everyone watching your videos is from Chennai. Try to think if someone from your hometown or any other small town from TN will be able to understand your discussion easily; otherwise some people might miss some information from your videos. This is a small suggestion just so the content from your videos will reach each tamil in India and outside absolutely. Keep up the great job guys👌👏

    Hey Prem - You are correct on most of the information. But this repatriation process can be done only via banks and not from any money transfer online providers. None of the money transfer providers will allow more than 7 lakhs from india to usa for the whole year. The tax you mentioned is 20% TDS ( Tax deducted at source) which will be deducted before the money deposited into NRO account. we can get this money when do the file returns in india with the help if auditor. All I can say this is not an easy process to gothru and very time consuming.

    • @ArthiPrem
      @ArthiPrem  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your inputs bro

    • @mycreativity2010
      @mycreativity2010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @prakash, yes, you are right. Repatriation has to be authorized by an Auditor before the bank starts the repatriation process. Money has to be in the NRE account of the person who is initiating the repatriation.
      could you please share the right info if you have done this. Also, is there a differential tax in USA for US citizens (No OCI card) when we repatriate the money from India we get from selling a property in India , money inherited from ancestors and fixed deposit money after filing Income tax returns in India through a good Chartered Accountant? Does having an OCI card in anyway prove beneficial for money repatriation, tax, selling property in India, etc? If you share your actual experience it will help many people. Thanks

    • @Prakash-in
      @Prakash-in 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mycreativity2010 There is no stake on OCI card. As long as you hold NRO account in india, you need to get in touch with the auditor to fill up the required forms. If the property is in your name, this is the process to bring the money to US but if someone else holding the property back in india, then they can send only 7 lakhs per yer for one person as a gift to you. Once the money recd into US bank account, you don't need to pay any tax as this has already paid in the source country. Hope it helps.

    Please advise me whether we should have declared the property in FBAR filing which we are going to sell in India? THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS

    • @london_extra
      @london_extra 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When it comes to FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts) filings, the general rule is to report foreign financial accounts if their aggregate value exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year. However, the reporting requirements regarding property held in a foreign country, such as real estate, are a bit different.
      In general, real estate, including property held in a foreign country, is not reportable on the FBAR form (FinCEN Form 114). The FBAR requirements primarily pertain to financial accounts, such as bank accounts, brokerage accounts, mutual funds, etc., rather than physical properties.
      That said, if the property in India is accompanied by a financial account (like a foreign bank account associated with the property), then the bank account should be reported if it meets the threshold requirements.

      Please don't ask such important questions to youtubers. They are doing research to best of their abilitity and making these videos. Please should take this info and do their own research before taking any step. You must ask a reputed CA auditor in India and a CPA here in the USA if you want to avoid any issues later on. I am not a CA or CPA. But lot of experts say it's not safe to follow advices we hear from non-professionals. Good luck
