- Welcome to the Double-Negative challenge, where I play Beta 1.1_02 in negative coordinates. It’s hardcore with the fog turned up. In this episode, we start some farms. Let me know if you enjoyed watching it!
All music is by @C418, in order:
Flake, Wait, Mellohi, Biome Fest, Blind Spots, Droopy Likes Your Face, 90s_management, Key, Ki, Stal, Build
#minecraft #oldminecraft #minecraftchallenge #minecraftbeta #challenge #hardcore #beta #gaming #swag #epicswag
Sorry for the poor audio quality in the beginning- it does return to normal after a bit. I hope you enjoyed this new episode of the Double Negative challenge! All the building montages were pretty fun to work on. I also apologize for the delay. If you like what you see, or you’re interested in old Minecraft things, check out my discord here: discord.gg/93raujwWMx
I like the music on this, how meticulously you synchronise your cuts so everything is on beat / following chord changes. Hope this series lasts long, it's very cozy.
Lol that’s my favorite thing to do while editing honestly thank you
you should mine the positive quadrant dirt and sink it into the sea, this island doesnt need any positive quadrant landmass
Sittin here with my 2 spicy mcchickens and large oreo mcflurry and bouta watch another Mongster banger.
I call it a "Mongbang"
I love the old armor protection system! And I also liked how the arrows shot by skeletons are slower in beta, thus posing more fun to dodge them and fight these mobs in general. Your builds are insanely good for what a builder can do in older versions! I enjoyed watching you creating the underground weed farm and the dock and bridge! Please, keep this thing up - this is great stuff to watch! :)
Meh the old armor system just make armor more useless, the only armor you need is iron a no more, diamond its just a little better but don't enough for his cost, and fight with mobs is a little boring, it's literally just walk around or the classic "one step forward, one step back"
in older versions, you can not hit the block where your head is. this can be used to punch through doors, but because your door opens to the outside you didn't stand in the door.
playing mostly on beta 1.5, i know this very well and it's a bit annoying when you want to punch out a torch in a mine, for example. i think this also makes it more dangerous if you ever get stuck in a block, like gravel. you'll have to remember to dig above you and jump to get out of it.
Ohhhh that makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks for the info!
@@Mongster83 after finishing the episode, i have another piece of info: the reason you get so many mobs might be that the mob cap stays the same regardless of render distance, so mob density can get higher because the cap is not filled with far away mobs.
i realized when i played alpha 1.1 on short fog and got tons of mobs.
so this makes your challenge a bit harder.
@@PikkelP oh so you’re saying short render distance keeps mobs closer? I should look into that
@@Mongster83 yes i think so. never hear anyone talking about it though
@@PikkelP makes sense because I was exploring a cave with only 4 torches so almost all of the cave was dark and a creeper just spawned out of nowhere to blow up in my face. I use medium render distance (like this series I think)
This style of video is so good vibes that I've been saving it to watch since it came out, but I've forgotten to watch it since then.
man i need to study but this idea poped up in my head to play beta minecraft and i heard about betacraft and i found your tutorial but i really liked the style of your talking and i saw this wideo and man i will study now and i will watch it in one shot XD maybe i will be able to get my friends to play beta if not i will try myself the good old 1.7.3 i never played it because i am too young to remember that but i was still watching hope u will post something soon
the best thing to happen to me today.wideo with such atmosphere and 40 minutes long.thank you bro
watched the whole wideo in one sitting and i'm really found myself enjoying those, waiting for next one💯
I love your edit style! One of the best Minecraft TH-cam series I've ever seen!
I love these long chill vids, keep up the great work man
Loving the series, watching this got me back into playing my own beta world.
I swear the front facing third person had always been around. I know I started back in beta 1.7.3, but I don't recall them removing that. What I do remember them removing were the filter options, including the 3D filter which required you to use the red and blue glasses. As much as I do actually enjoy a lot of the improvements in modern Minecraft, there's a lot I miss and enjoyed more in older builds of the game, especially the old terrain generation, it felt unnatural, but to me, but felt iconic to what Minecraft was.
I have a challenge suggestion: Double Negative, but in the Corner Far Lands. You would need some 64-bit mod to have playable framerates, but how hard that would be. You would have to deal not only with decreased resources, but also with layers, pottencially waterlogged ones.
That would be crazy
@@Mongster83 That's why I suggested it. I also suggest using the Beta 1.2 Æther 64bit mod for an extra reward.
"swag" in the tags, truly 2011 era content
Lucky you. You made it one block high, which allowed you to create a nice underground farm :))
Your building skills are truly great.
Even now I can't design a nice looking house and always build in-mountain bases.
Long spanning corridors, wide and tall rooms and everything not visible from the outside apart some occasional glass hallways.
It's easier to cover your lack of design skills if you only have to worry about the inside after all.
Hope this series lasts long, it's really nice to watch the builds unfurl.
Can't wait for part 3
18:08 Fun fact, mushrooms didn't spread until beta 1.6 test build 3, also I don't believe they'll pop off in sunlight either before that version.
Just found your channel today and I'm literally obsessed. I started playing Minecraft when I was a kid and I remember watching the initial game trailer all the time, wishing I could get the pc version. Eventually I got pocket edition, I can't recall what version it was but I know I started playing pocket edition when it was still a newish thing. Things have changed so much since then😭😭 sweet memoriess
That’s sweet thank you 😊
not sure if you take suggestons, but a secret waterfall entrance would be super cool! :-D
Yooo I just saw the first part yesterday and really hoped part 2 was coming, I love seeing golden age Minecraft content in 2024
Pretty hecking liminal intro ngl fam had me sp00ped
Nice episode!
peak has arrived
nice video! i hope you have a good time on your trip and looking forward to the next episode :D
26:10 made me let out a chuckle
I'm loving this series so far. It reminds me of the Let's Plays I watched in the past. I'm seriously considering playing some Minecraft soon and making a world I'll really love. I'll probably bite the bullet and download the Better Than Adventure mod.
I always built underground farms of some kind in my world as I felt surface farms always took up too much space. Looking forward to future episodes.
i'm pretty sure both maps as well as mushroom spread weren't added until Beta 1.6
also 39:40 gave me an actual heart attack
Yep, you are correct, i noticr when i try to make a mushroom farm in beta 1.3 - 1.4 XD
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the music could be just a tad bit quieter. Feels less like background music and more like its the same volume as your voice.
Aside from that, I'm loving this series! :)
I’ll admit my sound mixing isn’t always the best. I try to even it out especially since a lot of C418’s music goes up and down in decibels. Hard to find a good medium at least for me so apologies lol.
@@Mongster83Totally get it! Definitely not something that interferes with the quality of the video haha. It's more noticeable on some specific songs than it is on others so I see what you mean about it going up and down and even fluctuating throughout some of the songs. Was most noticeable with the first song in the video I think, but that one is a banger anyway lmao
Nah I thought it was two quiet, I could barely hear it while he was talking.
never stop this series 🙏
Awaken, for Mongster has posted
Its funny i also started with pocket edition 0.6.0, and ive actually gone back to play that version recently (updated the world to 0.7.0 after 3 months) but its got this incredibly claustrophobic atmosphere thats both cozy and lonely. Of course it didn't quite feel so lonely back in the day when you could always play with friends, but now going back, it really is just you, and a small animal population, a finite animal population. There are no caves, the world is small, it's comforting, but its a little unnerving. I actually almost convinced myself of a Herobrine myth because i dug into an old mineshaft id forgotten was there, and was confused by the spammed torches
Im thoroughly enjoying this series so far! the pacing of each episode is absolutely spot on and the editing is great!
I'm ngl it's a really cool seed. Were you able to input seeds in this version and if so what is the seed of this world?
The seed is random on startup, but you can find the seed using an NBT editor. I’m not sure how you’d create a world with this seed in this version without mods though.
@@Mongster83To create a world with a specific seed copy the seed you want, create a world, and close Minecraft, with the nbt editor search the seed of the world and chance with the seed you want, and then open the world again, sadly there no form to select a seed in vanilla, only modified the internal archives
Nice
this was such an awesome part
hey, i really enjoyed this episode. the one thing i complained about last epispde didn’t happen literally at all and suddenly the series felt a lot cozier and enjoyable to watch! crazy how that happens.
i know i sound very passive aggressive but i do genuinely enjoy this kind of content a lot, it just got on my nerves constantly hearing the comparisons between versions last episode. very excited to watch more episodes in the future, good luck on your world :3
Beta players hates modern versions for whatever and modern players hates beta versions for whatever, it's literally hate just for hate something XD, just ignore the nosense fight and enjoy minecraft in the version you liked
@@thelittleleafeon7988 it’s not even that, i think both are flawed. i think both have their positives but like it’s just annoying when people argue about how much worse one specific version is when the game still has problems between both versions that haven’t been addressed since the game came out, and have their own unique problems that plague their respective versions. it’s just a matter of preference, the game isn’t this perfect maste piece either which way though and it’s so numbing to hear people act that way about beta and modern both
Really entertaining series. Keep em coming
That was an awesome timelapse
loving this series!! cant wait for more :)
Really been looking forward to this
lookin good!
Hooray😁
immaculate early minecraft vibes
Maps were added in Beta 1.6
really enjoying these so far
Have been waiting for this
I recently found videos on my 3ds of my first house i ever built in survival alpha 0.6.1 on minecraft pe. I remember I used the Nyan seed cause it had this cool lava seeping from the mountain.
Guess you could call this Quadruple Negative
eyyyy
I do my sugarcane like that too :)
40:11 "Wo'll see"
ANOTHER VIDEO WHOO!
I WAS WAITING THIS SOOO BAD
We need to grow wheat, Jesse!!
🎉
I miss when skeletons had bad aim now it’s like they have aimbot.
Used my lunch to watch this video, huge letdown, should have watched the Minecraft movie trailer 45 times instead
New Mongster video!
🦆
Please don't touch children in the future, you're pretty cool
😂
I would to know the name of the mod that displays coordinates and which versions is compatible with
where can i find that coordinate mod and do i need multimc?
You can’t take resources from the positive coordinates but can you build there?
Nope no building. I am considering destroying parts of the island that are positive so that they won’t be connected though.
@@Mongster83 fair - I was considering a wall of some sorts around the island but if you’re destroying the land I guess that has a similar purpose. Enjoying this series so far, the way you play the game seems similar to the way I like to play it
yo mong
