Nice " silent" video of cap in action! What effect would a worn/oversized orifice on the lipstick burner have on use of this? More heat because more fuel? Or would increased fuel from larger opening cause sooting, etc?
@David Schmidthuber Caps reduce the decibel output of the stove by at least half at full throttle, more at medium and simmer flames. A worn lipstick jet orifice will provide too much fuel and yellow, sooty flames with either a cap or with the flame plate - same difference. The issue is the worn orifice - caps won't solve a worn part. The solution is to decrease the size of the orifice by gently peening the oversized orifice metal to reduce the outlet size. It is possible to restore the lipstick in this way and make it back to new operation. BD

I’m just setting the record straight that what I know about this subject comes from actual learning it hands on and repairing a pile of lipstick burners. There are others on the interwebs who know what they are doing in this regard, too. But, I feel it’s important to clarify whether the knowledge coming from real experience - versus “knowledge” coming from thinking about it while sitting in a chair and drinking. There is (unfortunately) all too much of the latter posted across the interwebs on a variety of subjects. And, sadly, it can be hard to discern which is which sometimes. Might explain a lot about how messed up, angry and divided our world has become. Just some thoughts. Ymmv. Enjoy your stove! 👍 BD🐾
