This is the sad tale of local malls all across the country. It makes you think back to all times spent there as a teenager or even a parent. So many items purchased there, some now vintage reminders & others long gone in the trash. Sad that these times can only be relived in your memory.😥
Heartbreaking, lots of good memories there. I worked there from 15 years old to 19 or 20 at Chick-fil-a and Blockbuster Music. Once Sears was abandoned, they used it as a haunt one year and I got to work in it for a night. This mall was the place to go in the 80s through mid 90s.
Awesome video free 4 all.. I thought as much signal hill was coming up from the shorts you posted, Awesome way closing off Sunday with a stunning abandoned mall video. The ceiling looked very bad but after the stripped much of it, the structure looks so good even the roof but I know the reason you guys didn't go up there is because of it potentially been weak. Seeing the aircon units stripped in pieces for its valuables and the fact that there's evidence of scrapping going on means it won't be long until it either gets trashed or demolished. Awesome content guys 🎉🎉🎉🎉
That wooden car that says "good news from the north pole", I have pictures of my son in that car from when he was little. Pics of him in front of the big present too 😊
I bought my wife her wedding ring at the Saslow's jewelry store that used to be there, I used to make wishes in the fountain when I was little and my kids have made wishes in that fountain as well
My ex purchased me a diamond bracelet in Saslow on credit. They called me wanting me to pay for it. I didnt even know he purchased it until they told me. I never owned or ever saw the tennis bracelet. I told Saslow i got rid of him caused he pawned every lawn mower, tool, jewelry i owned. If they want the tennis bracelet back they needed to check the local Pawn Shops..
Before it closed…The fact that this mall was still open to the public and beyond infested with mold was insanity. I have visited this mall a few times and filmed before it closed and my nose and skin would start itching after being inside for only a few steps into the mall. Shout out Wilson, the maintenance guy that sat in the mall for days when that mold was crazy and I wonder if he ever got sick. He was always nice and said hello when we visited the mall.
I was 7 years old when I went to signal hill and got my first puppy! Right at the water fountain up the ramp on the left puppies was in the window and I begged my mama she finally gave in! I had him until I turned 20 😭
I performed on that stage beside Jc penny it was a Christmas recital 😭😭 amd a few stores down I remember it use to be a cassette and cd store lord I miss those times!
My mom brought me here my entire early childhood, if I remember right when I was about 11 it started smelling like mold and the scent was overwhelming, this was over a decade ago. I remember the water fountain people would sit there and hang out. My favorite old mall to go to in NC now is the Carolina mall, it feels very homey, OG carpet (I think), not overly bright with white lights or a bunch of windows, its a very family-centered small mall. Sadly half of it has a moldish smell but that part is blocked off now completely, the other part of the mall with all the stores seems to be in the clear. I really hope they fix the issue before it spreads because I love going
Grew up going to that mall. We would drive up from Mooresville. My brother's boy scout troop even did a pine wood derby there one time. There used to be a Chick-Fil-A and a pet store too. It was so sad seeing it continue to fall apart and lose stores.
Statesville no mall no theaters but they spent alot of money making uptown pretty. Hopefully they can do something so we don't have to go to Hickory to entertain our grandkids.
Please do JR’s Discount Outlet next! I can’t believe they gutted the mall so quickly. Which store had the basement? I went to that mall for 30 years and even worked at Sears briefly, but never knew there was a basement.
I went through the walkway beside JRs and found a barber shop that had old old magazines still in the waiting room old phones and everything! Then found a door that lead to a whole mattress and homeless people in the room I shut the door so fast lol
@ I would have freaked out. My mom and I drove behind JR’s a couple weeks ago and there were people gathered back there. A pane of glass was busted out where we used to dump trash, so I am assuming someone has gotten inside at some point.
There was a piano repair/sales store there. It was one of the last stores to be open. I hated knowing they were there with the roof leaking like it was. I had heard that it closed due to Covid and they could not get the owner to come get them but not sure if that is true or not.
@Shockmaster72 you got that right. Apartments that will be taxpayer subsidies . It's enough land for a solar farm. Cost millions to tear it down and haul away the debris.
Im trying to understand why these guys were driving up a hill on a dirt road to get to the mall. All you have to do is get on I-77 and get off at the Statesville mall exit on Broad Street and the mall is up on left in clear view and you do not have to take the rental up a dirt road. Where were you going??
“ they’re stripping this out . They’re either gonna turn it into something else or tear it down “ geeeeeeeeeee thank you for the sliver of information there buddy I would have never known otherwise

I grew up going to this mall. Once upon a time, this was THE place to go shopping, cruise or hangout with friends.
Wish we could’ve seen it when it was in its prime! Looks like it would’ve been a great hang out spot. Thanks for watching
Same here KB toys and footlocker were my spots lol

That’s where us Ebenezer kids went!
@tarheelcc7380 dang straight
Was just thinking about my break time at Sears walking down to grab a sandwich and talk to all you music peeps!
I grew up going to that mall!! So many memories!! ❤
This used to be the weekend hangout when i was a kid in the 90s. I sure miss it.

Love seeing all the Christmas decorations. Santa used to be by JcPenney.

I was just about to forward this video to you. You kept us updated on the place until the end.
Nice boys! I have been keeping track of this mall for a bit thanks to the mall fox! It was cool to see you guys check it out.
I saw some of Mall Fox videos too. Great stuff! Glad you enjoyed it
I have a lot of happy memories at this mall. I pass by it all the time and it's sad to see the state it's in

This makes me sad seeing this mall in this shape as I grew up going to this mall. Great video guys.
Sam's Gourmet was the original restaurant in the mall, later it became Mom and Pops cafeteria, I ate there with my Grandmother all the time 75 thru 78

This is just sad😢 I grew up in this mall
This mall was great. I’m going to miss this mall and I’m glad you guys showed us what’s happening insidr

Grew up in Statesville. That mall was the go to place in the 80s as a teenager. Sad to see it this way
Worked across the road at Kmart when I was in high school. Hated to see it go but it was wayyy past time for them to completely close.
It's crazy that Kmart is long gone. They turned it into an U haul center and self storage
Statesville no mall no theaters but they spent alot of money making uptown pretty. Hopefully they can do something so we don't have to go to Hickory to entertain our grandkids.
Just fast food and car dealerships absolute joke of a city
Me and my buddy jumped that dirt hill with his moms truck when we were in highschool 🤣 whole headliner fell down
😂 that is awesome! We figured someone would comment about that hill
The amount of shit us Statesville kids did at that mall when we were younger is insane
Wow a lot has changed in Statesville 😢
A pleasure to watch your little tour. I managed a Kaybee Toys back in this malls heyday. Brought back memories for sure. Keep up the good work guys.👍👍
That’s awesome! I’m sure you have many stories about Signal Hill. Thank you for watching!!
My uncle worked at kb toys here back in the day
@ did he work another job as well?
I used to work in hills and visited the toy store too. I was a teenager back then.
I miss sports card etc and Chris in the mall.He always had those Becketts on time.

Think it may have been Spainhours

Me, my mom and sister used to go shopping and eat at ihop all the time, with my new born 28 years ago! I wonder what happened to J&Rs?!
It shut down down and moved to Mooresville
Shut down. They have cigar place in Mooresville. They do not have all the other stuff they used to sell.
I grew up thirty minutes from there. I remember the mall really good. I think the old IHop was a cafeteria beforehand.
Liar
Wtf@@SteveToes-b4f
So many nights smoking on that roof still do sometimes
W video
Im a sigma, free 4 all is to!
So do you get permission to explore these places are do you just trespass and hope to not get caught?
Where did all of them pianos come from lol

I use to walk around that area as a teen
Lie
We have to see this 52 year old place everyday. I wish they would give use something new...
Make a nice Forrest. Plant trees there.
Add that to the things that are not going to happen in Statesville. They're probably going to put an apartment complex on it or build houses on it.
@Shockmaster72 you got that right. Apartments that will be taxpayer subsidies . It's enough land for a solar farm. Cost millions to tear it down and haul away the debris.

It's because they are men and us men have to do sketchy stuff once in a while. I don't know why we are like this. It is fun and it is what it is 🤷
The ihop has only been gone a year or so.
Thanks to amazon
I'm A signal 🗿
Good news from the North Pole! Swastika!
Ugh, sounds about white
Demolition coming soon,
This is sad to see
6:03 based graffiti
I'm definitely a mall rat. lol I work at one.
You're ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS !!!!! ☺️
“ they’re stripping this out . They’re either gonna turn it into something else or tear it down “ geeeeeeeeeee thank you for the sliver of information there buddy I would have never known otherwise
