    The small gap on the back side of tongue and groove is to insure that the front (show) aide seats tight. Basically it's for the manufacturing tolerances.

    Hi all. I think it’s really looking very smart indeed , much better than a standard profile . And although you have had an issue with it you have overcome the problem , as they say problems are part of life but being able to solve is the ultimate key to success . Bless you all. And best wishes as always 😀👍👍👍

    At last. We have been waiting for the cladding, but it looks great! When it's finished, it would be good to know the total length of cladding used. Laid end to end it would reach.........
    Well done.

    Pretty neat work👍 Have you left any expansion gap between the ends of the boards and the vertical strips and are you going to add a thin strip over the vertical strips to protect the end grains???

    It’s quite a transformation and worth the extra tickling on the grooves to improve the fit of the boards. As usual a quality piece of work to make it look just right.
    One thing, perhaps need a drip groove under the horizontal pieces on frames for the windows and openings if possible? Might be worth looking at if you can do it with the boards now being fitted. 👍

      @@TheRestorationCouple Thanks Tim, will check them out. I’m building a Pottery studio for my wife 21ft x 10ft. Liked the way you sealed your windows. I am bringing my windows flush with the lathe then sealing with tape.

    On the matter of drainage. Inspite of being caulked (I presume) would it also be better if the underside of the 'sill' of the reveal frame has drip groove along it?

    Hope you saved enough on the cladding at auction to make recutting the tongues worthwhile. Seems like it should have worked out, but …

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankfully yes, not worked out exactly yet but stillover £1500 saved even with half a day of tedious routering.

  • @martinvho
    @martinvho ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So the lesson here is that if you buy something is cheap, you'll have to put some work in to make it right... the question with that is: how much are you worth per hour? Can you do it cheaper in total, hire someone who is skilled and can do it better/faster, or is it better to just pay the normal price? I for one never finish up drywall and hire someone. I can put the sheets up, but I'll be damned if I'm going to waste my time mudding, taping, and sanding. I can work and earn more than an expert costs to do it for me. If you can, do it yourself... up to a point.

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Guess it was half a day of router table but works out at 70p a metre so at least £1.50 per meter saved. So I’d have to be on £3000 a day to have lost out. 😂

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s an auction, you win some you lose some. That said even with the extra work it’s still saved us around £1.5k.

  • @jimrowland8310
