I just wanna say watching you as far back as magic the gathering with Amonket set back on the Xbox and seeing you still do your thing now is so cool like watching an old friend that you haven’t seen in a decade and he’s still doing what he loves and you catch up.
I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, but some cards just come with the preconstructed decks but either don't show up on draft boosters at all or do so sparingly.
@@user-ne6eu6hy1f You can't open Ordeal of Nylea in limited, it's only in the starter collection. The easiest way to tell AFAIK is to check the collector numbers, e.g. on Scryfall. Cards that you can open in Foundations limited are < 300 while cards from the starter collection are > 500. But they're all legal in Standard. Totally not confusing at all. 🙄
The best thing about this deck is that while it's built to abuse Hydra, it functions perfectly fine without it by building up a semi-wide board of "big enough" threats when it has to. Too often, decks that try and focus on a single creature swinging in for game fold to a single piece of removal and this deck somewhat avoids that.
I don’t know which one I prefer now, but I think I’m still partial to the Goldvein Hydra, Awaken the Woods, Mossborn Hydra, Overlord of the Hauntwoods “package”. A solid Awaken with Mossborn on the table is beyond enough damage to end 4 or 5 games lol Those 4 cards along with a “dealer’s choice” of ramp, maybe 4 copies of Snakeskin to protect the Mossborn (depending on the intensity of your risk aversion) and of course, 4 Fabled Passage are undoubtedly a formidable threat in the current standard.
In match 8, I noticed you had another line of play available with Fabled Passage and Bill. You can play it, resolve Bill's trigger, then crack it with the hydra trigger still on the stack to get both +1/+1 counters before doubling twice
So i was inspired by the ulting Liliana video and made a mono green version with Nissa and Viviens. Managed to ult a nissa with a doubling season and a Hydra in play. 17 land fall triggers. Then had a little brain fart and made it fight a phyrexian obliterator. I only just regained consciousness.
Gruul Hydra can be sick too. Halana and Elena can put everything out of reach. Oh and if you are unaware of it get a play set of Bulk Up. You’re welcome.
I run 4x innkeepers, 3x kami of whispered hope, 3x kodama of the West tree, 2x bristly bill, 2x scute swarm for token flood, 4x Mossborn, 2x ordeal of nylea, 2x invasion of zendikar. Modern/historic deck but it's so fun a few times with kami, bristly bill and Mossborn I was able to tap kami for 750 Mana, then infinitely use bristly bill until the max damage was out there and hit for like 53 billion. Not kidding.
Scythecat Cub also works brilliantly with the hydra and can make for extremely explosive round 3 and 4. For example: Round 1: land + llanowar elves Round 2: land + hydra Round 3: cub + land + ordeal of nylea swinging with a 30/30 if you sequence the triggers right and my math is right. Insane.
I have been trying to break it in historic. I can easily get a turn 3 win against no interaction, but that rarely happens. What usually happens is they casts a t1 thoughtseize or a t2 counterspell when I cast the hydra and I do nothing for the rest of the game.
Been seeing this one today. People don’t like investing in their creatures and counters when things like sheoldred’s edict forces them to sacrifice or the plan is disrupted. After the loss of a third piece…scoop
Why do people never play Kami of Whispered Hopes in decks like these? I always throw it in and it always is either an instant removal target or a great value piece that I think works much better than Ozolith, the Shattered Spire in this deck. Could just be me tho tbh, great video btw :))
Played it a while back in an Innkeeper's deck. It can be quite good, but the current meta is quite hostile towards that type of creature. At least Hydra can threaten to win the game on the following turn. While Kami is nice to untap with, it doesn't quite get to that level.
@@LegenVD Sometimes I am just severely disappointed with the performance of the Ozolith and at this point I just always slot in Kami instead.. it did work here though maybe I shall reconsider :) also Ordeal of Nylea is something I somehow never even considered for these decks although I pretty much only play them in standard LMAO
@ I was running something similar with 2 basilisk collars but of course against red you need to find them fast. I feel like these days in bo1 every deck needs a couple of ways to gain 5-10 life reliably by turn 5 to outlast aggro
Definitely considered it, although there will be enough times where spending that extra mana will make a big difference. Most decks playing Bushwack don't have 8 other 1-drops they also want to play on curve.
I have 3 different mono green hydra ramp decks and all of them are fun but just lack enough and run under 50% W/R. I don't have the Crawling Barrons so I just dropped them and added 4 Cosmic Hunger for some control. Running 22 lands is working just fine and the Ornery Tumblewaggs have been the kill shot 90% of the time. #mRNAsux add me as long as you're not running mindless mono black discard.
I'm gonna put this little guy in my Bonny Pall deck. Everything else is p/t equal to lands, but this seems nice include Update: Lol, got him to 1024 power quick but got plowed. So I gained a lot of life but didn't kill anyone with him.
Wow, going against boros is so hopeless. Infinite removal, infinite scaling, lifegain, removes lifegain, unblockable, only needs 3 lands so you can go as low as 13 lands on deck. Been a while since we've had a t0 deck in standard like this.
I wouldn’t recommend this as a competitive Standard deck, but if you’re just playing for fun there’s Scythecat Cub, which isn’t legal in Standard but has a very similar ability.
You have to play this deck 100x then post only the decent games. I’m rank 823 mythic right now. Creatures don’t live long enough for this to be efficient. It’s a cool idea but literally every top tier deck dumpsters this
I build it, I play it first game out the box I got a good board few creatures out on turn 3 my opponent plays malicious eclipse because you know the game is fair and balanced. 😂
I love how when I try to run this deck my hydra is destroyed immediately and then I draw nothing but forests and Innkeeper's Talents. Arena can suck my b*lls.

My take is quite simple: iIf a deck when 9-12, would be better for the audience to either: see the deck going 4-5 in the video, to actually show the audience the strengths and weaknesses of said deck; or, at the very least, show the the information at the end (like SaffronOlive do, for instance). But I also know that on YT people need to be Gods of the win rate, with every single deck (even the meme ones) doing better than the currently actual best deck.
Well done for putting it together but to me this is the most boring possible deck that exists. I can't get behind any deck where the "dream" is: Play 3 cards then attack for 28. Just so basic. I'm not saying every deck needs to be some autism engine but winning this way just seems so boring. The first match where you at least had things not go to plan and had to grind away a bit was much more entertaining.

Played against a variation of this deck yesterday that ran Doppelgang. It was insane and I lost with -1,073,741,838 life lol
If they'd comboed off a little harder, they might have underflowed the 32-bit integer and left you with billions of life
@EllipticalReasoning counters were actually capped. They kept attempting to double the hydra's counters and the game wouldn't.

Whats the bare minimum to get this going? Llanowar, nylea, bill, and hydra?
That's the ideal setup to win on turn 3 assuming you have lands too. Bill is the most replaceable out of those.
