    The team didn’t even show up. He addressed them at Alabama’s press conference because they saw the type of man he is.

    What Alabama did to UW made us have to do the same to Arizona. Now Arizona is going to do the same to the next school down. Not a fan of what CFP has become but great hire, Go Huskies.

    Great UW hire! 🏆

  • @rayontita1912
    @rayontita1912 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    He was the best coach available this late in the process. Arizona also has that $240 Million "accounting error" that has really hamstrung their athletic department, and they're freezing spending. Anyway, hopefully UW set up a really really big buyout, because Fisch doesn't stick around too long, and if he's good, the other vultures will circle. Probably not in the next two years though.

    • @raleighsanford5111
      @raleighsanford5111 ปีที่แล้ว

      @rayontita1912 I don't know if I can agree with "best coach available" in this situation. Pretty much every coach offered the job would take it, I think buyouts had more to do with it. You bring up a good point about the "accounting error" that affected PAC schools, that hurts. Also, Fisch is at a big name school in one of the 2 network conferences, tOSU, Michigan, Bama, LSU, UGA, maybe PSU are pretty much the only upward moves left. FSU & maybe Clemson & Miami if they are moved into a network conference.

    • @KingBeevr
      @KingBeevr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arizona's financial woes aren't really going to affect football and basketball operations. And lots of the HC salary would be coming from other avenues than just straight pay from the university budget.

    • @raleighsanford5111
      @raleighsanford5111 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KingBeevr Maybe, often times the contracts will meet the expected potential from outside sources if the HC is unable to get the outside income. This was an issue with Mike Leach at Tech, as he wasn't interested in any of that, while Bob Knight hawked anything and everything to keep the financial burden on the university at a minimum. In any case, there are hidden costs to financial woes, things like losing the best employees to other opportunities for more security.

    • @rayontita1912
      @rayontita1912 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raleighsanford5111 I don’t entirely disagree, but overall Leipold turned it down, and it’s January. If it was a mid December search, then maybe we’re having a different conversation. The timing dictates who’s actually available. The accounting error is Arizona’s fault, someone there stole some money or failed to allocate funds properly. There are very few upward moves from UW, you’re right. I think Fisch could leave (he never sticks around) but that’s college football now. It is what it is.

    • @raleighsanford5111
      @raleighsanford5111 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rayontita1912 I misunderstood the initial comment, I was talking about the Bama job. Was Leipold really offered these other jobs? Coaches turn down vacant jobs all the time but were never offered. They also apply for jobs that often go unreported as well.

    I did hear only about 25% of the team was at that "goodbye" meeting for Washington team. I also heard the "leaked" speech and it wasn't that great He had ALSO preached "we"re in this together" etc etc. Seems they all say that but appears to mean very little when all is said and done.

      I don’t know how it’s been claimed that he got a standing ovation, but I know the team found out from ESPN that they’d lost their coach. I’ve seen the tweets from individual players and their parents all basically calling DeBoer a carpetbagger. I’ve listened to the speech, where he says “I had to make sure I wasn’t going to be missing out on something special here”.
      I sincerely thank DeBoer for the 25-3 record and hope he never wins another game as long as he lives. He accepted zero accountability for his own actions and decisions and left with barely a half assed trail of crocodile tears. Have fun at Alabama and please take your poor scapegoat of a daughter, so she doesn’t have to suffer from angry fans.

      Doesn't look that way, Parker Brailsford and Germie Bernard entered the portal after Fisch was hired. Fisch couldn't even get players from AZ to follow him. I think the players know that he's not a very trustworthy guy. From what I've seen of him he sounds and looks like a used car salesman.

      He's not gonna go anywhere. People are freaked out because Deboer left but fail to realize that was only because the best coaching job in the country happened to open up. They've always cared more about the hardwood than the gridiron.
