There is much, much more beyond "space". Space is just what's within the firmament God used during creation to separate the waters. Believe in Jesus and you will not die, but have everlasting life. You will see what's beyond.
If space started with the Big Bang then everything expanded in a shell, which means that looking in certain directions would reveal the gap. Or if everywhere we look there are stars then we don't live in a shell but in an infinite expulsion of matter from the singularity that started everything which means we should be able to triangulate the origin of space.
