That plant and I have 'a relationship'. Hubby planted it years and years ago. It's pointy and spikes me and takes up space in the greenhouse. I nearly had him convinced to get rid of it, as it had never produced a pineapple. And then it does!!!!! But yep... it is pretty cute. 🤣🤦♀️
I'm a Zimbabwean in South Africa and this is an eye opener, we plant them in land beds but I'm learning new ways of growing them today. I'm looking at moving back to my country and start homesteading, your channel is a go to as you explain in simple terms how to do stuff. Thanks to you and many more years of homesteading!!!
Welcome and thank you for your lovely comment. Our area is quite cold and I know they won't grow outside year on year here. But am definitely keen to try some outside this year. Not sure if I will go straight in the ground or some of our hrow bags yet. Maybe both! 😀

Thanks Christa :) It has worked a treat year on year. But I am excited to see how they will go outside. Fingers crossed the ones in pots take. Plus we grabbed some cuttings and popped them inside in water hoping they will root
That's a great haul from that small bed! We set aside a much larger space than ever last time and still got lots of small ones and some large , but last year's raised bed that we just left scraps of roots in ,grew a few huge ones. I'm going to plant the little skinny ones back in a different spot and see if we can get more larger ones for next year's haul. I know my soil still needs more organic matter so I'm making the biggest compost pile I've ever made at the moment because there's never enough compost. Well done matey , I hope the ones you plant outside do well too❤❤
Awwww... thankyou so much 💓 It has been such a blessing how this bed has produced like this ongoing. Like you we are building up a huge lot of compost and so looking forward to seeing if they will do ok outside here for us. Fingers crossed for us both 🤞😀
Thanks a bunch 😀 It has been lovely having these harvests year on year from this little bed. I am excited to see if we can improve things, with some outside growing too next season. Fingers crossed the ones in pots take. Plus we started some cuttings in water too. 🤞🤞🤞
Thank you for your lovely comment 💖 There is some incredible things that can be achieved in smaller spaces. When I look back on our journey, even when in a tiny flat, there were plants on the balcony 😀 I'm not sure if you have seen it, but there is a great channel called Urban bounty, where Paul grows some incredible things on his small urban property. You may enjoy that one too, especially as I bet your growing conditions would be perfect for a lot of things he grows. 😀
Nice haul from I tiny bed. I grew sweet potatoes for the first time here in the Dandenong ranges in a 3 meter bed and was surprised at how well they did. I planted one in a mixed bed of peppers and basil and it was well behaved and grew as a ground cover.
That sounds fabulous Charles. Can I ask if the bed was outside? We are hoping to expand our growing outside this upcoming season and it would be wonderful to hear from someone like yourself up here if outside has worked out.
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus yes the bed was outside. I had no fencing around it, so to stop the rabbits , I threw an insect net over it. I suspect it would have been much better harvest with out it. This year I am going to put a poly tunnel with clear plastic to catch the heat. Sweet potatoes love the heat.
After this, we also grabbed some cuttings off the vines and popped them in water. These are sitting in water inside and will hopefully root 🤞🤞🤞
Great job
Thanks a bunch. We are always so happy with what this little bed produces.
You guys are raising some excellent children with great homesteading skills.
Thank you Pat, that is so sweet of you to say. 💖 We are pretty proud of our boys and these things they do with us.

As an Australian that lives in the cold Macedon ranges, I’m inspired to have a go in my green house.
So wonderful to hear Linda. I am so glad it has 😀 Hopefully you get good success too.
Your son is hilarious. 'I feel good'- bugger copyright, let him sing
Hehe... he is an awesome little man 💖💖💖
wow I never would have thought you could get so many from such a small space.
It's pretty wonderful isn't it Robin 😀 And it delivers year on year from the little bed.
Omg how cute is that little pineapple!!!

Love the content you guys are putting out.
I’m envious of the space you have.
Unfortunately we are stuck with our residential property

@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus yes I am subscribed to his channel and I too grow many tropical trees.
My only issue is I’ve run out of space 🙂
Ummm that Pineapple is the cutest❤
Hehehe... it seems the tiny pineapple has stolen the show 🤣 It is super cute 😀
