Here's a good analogy: amazon is the largest mall in the world and you have a tiny booth there. the fees are rent. it's worth the rent to have all these shoppers in the mall.
@12:30 information is GOLD. I'm experiencing this right now. I started 30 days ago. I'm making sales but because I'm buying subscriptions, tools, boxes, packaging, and merchandise. I've already spent 2,600 while only making $200 (my cut) so far. However, I have over 230 items in FBA still waiting to sell. Stay the course! Your info helped me understand when I'll break even and start profiting.
Told a friend I was trying to do Amazon and told me it was a bad idea smh I really want to give it a shot I really hope it works out so I can prove him wrong. It amazes me how many people don’t try cause it’s “hard” or cause they don’t believe they can do it. Yes it’s going take money but nothing great comes from not putting any money into it
Oh I got my store paused because someone complained I was selling some chips at a high price. My price was the lowest!!! I immediately got rid of the chips from my inventory and my account was restored. Whenever I see chips I roll my eyes at them. Ha ha!! Don't give up new sellers it pays off!!
very helpful , I am doing Amazon FBA UK and sourcing from China, I think the key thing of doing FBA is to find professional suppliers and freight forwarder to handle your first leg for your Amazon FBA, like IRFREIGHT, highly recommended.
Love the real talk in this video! You are awesome, Nikki. If I could add one thing to your new seller mistake's list would be #9 not reserving money for taxes. Self employment tax can end up being a lot and could really put an unexpected burden on a new seller who wasn't expecting it!
I'm just starting and struggling maybe I'm over thinking it but structuring my LLC into a business S Corp, finding/paying a CPA, business licenses, permits, learning QuickBooks, business account ect...I haven't even started an amazon sellers account yet! Feel like I'll be broke before I can even start scanning products:/
@@ShaunB.1 check out Mark Tew on TH-cam. He's a reseller and CPA. He recommends not worrying about turning your LLC into an S Corp until you're doing about $30-40k profit annually. I would just get started with scanning. Keep it simple for now, you'll learn what you need along the way. Nikki has a lot of great getting started videos. What I love about her is that she keeps things simple and I really do recommend following her advice. I'm also the type to overthink things so I get where you're coming from. Good luck!
Hi Nikki! I love your channel. You are the reason I got started in this thing. I’ve been doing it since the middle of February part time and I’ve been growing my inventory ever since. I want to grow my business to make it my full-time business. But wanna know how do you calculate with the fluctuations how much inventory to purchase to be able to make X amount of profit for income? Is that too hard to answer? Lol anyway I look forward to your answer. And I’m super super excited about my future in this FBA business and it’s all thanks to you. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you!! So you’d basically need to be making whatever you want to take out as profit “salary” per month after paying for all your inventory and expenses. How I used to do it was say I spent $2000 on my credit card for inventory and expenses. I would take my first payout of the month (since they are every two weeks) and pay my card off for that balance and then use the second payout of the month as my check. Of course you’re using your card again for more inventory etc. idk if that’s good model or flawed but it’s what I did for 3 years haha!
I just found you today and am so excited! It's nice to see a relatable female face for which I was starting to assume was a male dominated field, also you explain things so clearly, ease the worries and fears and I am so grateful for all the content you consistently put out! I will for sure be purchasing your guide.
Hi Nikki, It’s great to hear someone say that you can’t get rich doing this. Some of the other channels I have seen say that you can turn a small amount of money into a mountain of money in no time. Thanks for that. Now for my question: I haven’t taken the leap yet to start selling on Amazon and I’m wondering if you could ballpark the amount of money someone would need to get started with just the Amazon seller account and the sites that you mentioned in your video like Keepa and others. I’m trying to get an idea of how much I need to get a hold of to start this. Thanks.
Lol you are killing these fake people on TH-cam and I just love I found you early on I just started my seller account last week so I am considering one of your guides but any extra money I have is to put towards packaging and inventory
Thank you! Yea for sure, when you are staring and funds are limited it’s smart to focus on stocking your “shelves” I would also scan around the house and make sure you always ask for approval you’ll be surprised how much is open to you already
Hey Nikki, since you sell mostly one off items do you know how to keep a good IPI score despite that? I have a very low in stock score and may have my storage amount limited soon because I mainly flip books. Do you know if there is a way around this? Thanks!
You can delete old inactive listings and make sure you don’t have any old and active that’s now considered long term. Also make sure you don’t have anything unfulfillable and stranded that you are not dealing with those affect your score.
@@NikkiKirk I have been closing sold listings and it seems that's the easy part, but guess I will have to bite the bullet and end my older listings as well then if I want to keep selling *sigh* Thanks for the help!
So I made a mistake recently I’m new to wholesalers I bought a bunch of fishing stuff thinking I can sell them on Amazon but I didn’t read the individual items terms and conditions for selling and it turned out i wasn’t allowed to sell the items on 3rd party websites so always read the terms and conditions
Hi, I just found your video about mistakes to avoid as a new seller on Amazon. I really appreciate the video. I do have a concern. I just laughed my first product 3 days ago under an existing listing on Amazon. I had my first sell 😊. I received an email from the brand I listed my products under basically telling me to delete their ASIN from my listing. What do you think I should do?
Hi there! Thanks for all the info. I have a quick question. I got an email from Amazon saying they refunded a customer for an item, citing the reason as "Delivered Late by Carrier". It says "We will adjust your seller account accordingly." Does that mean I lose money because the carrier didn't get it there on time?
Which mistake should I talk about first 😂🤦♀️ i listed the wrong product, sent a few in and realized it only when i scanned a similar item…and that day, i had an order for the wrong item that was in the warehouse. I reached out to the customer, offered to send her the right product and keep the wrong one. I was trying to avoid a bad review and maybe get a good review but ended up with neither.
Just yesterday I somehow listed all my units as FBM... so I was VERY surprised when I started getting FBM orders (losing $ on shipping BTW) I had to jump into seller central and fix everything fast! 😵💫
Hello, how do you deal with IPI score and FBA limits? Everything was great last year but in Q1 sales slowed down and a lot of stock went into overstock and sell through rate is in red too which cased IPI to drop from 480 to 230 and very low FBA limit. Any suggestions ? Thanks !
Hey Nikki, sorry don't mean to be negative or anything but we started doing retail arbitrage on Amazon last summer and we were deactivated in December for listing under another listed item that was flagged for being counterfeit I guess. It was an item that we bought early on and didn't have a receipt but we were told by Amazon that even if we had a Walmart receipt they would not reactivate us unless we had an invoice from a distributor. We exhausted the appeal process to the point where the Amazon team said our appeal was perfect except for the invoice so there was no chance of reactivation. We invested around 10k and made almost none of it back. They are keeping 2500 that we had in the account. They did ship us the inventor back. It sucked.
Sorry that happened to you. They do accept them and you’d have to dig but somewhere in their operating agreement that say RA is acceptable. If you can find and send that back to them, it’s their own terms, they will accept. I’ve had many a IP and counterfeit and all I have is store reciters and they take them. Unfortunately, if you get someone who’s difficult at Amazon, it’s going to be harder. You can also hire an Amazon expert at these things if needed.
Hey Nikki! We talked about this before but I was wondering if you were able to figure out why “cost of purchase” amount doesn’t save anymore when you’re scanning…. I thought it’d be fixed by now but mine is still disappearing and it’s so annoying!!
I’m sorry! I would look at what you have what the ranks and prices are and adjust or hold and use keepa when you buy new stock to make sure it checks out historically

If it was FBA then you should get reimbursed from Amazon but it might take 45 days before you see it back
