The missile speed nerf sucks but S3s can still hit their target -barring de-sync. Since in MM almost all ships move like an overweight turtle 800+ m/s is plenty, especially if missiles are lunched at the1.5k km range. Stealth does work, i have been flying the Firebird in the past few days and the detection rate is not even close to that of an F8 or Inferno where i am spot miles away-that with the 20% signature reduction. The Firebird can sneak up on the target undetected but does require a different approach obviously.
Rented it during Invictus and messed around with it in some missions, and same thing kept happening to me as well. Even after both audio and visual confirmation of a target lock, it would just fire the missiles into the void. Weird.
I don't know, If this applies to PVE as well, but If you target another Player, he can aquire a target lock on you although you are not in detection range. So you should avoid locking on your target es long as possible.
I think some of the missile problems you had could also be related to the type of missiles. Thunderbolts target EM, and in my personal experience with them in LIVE they weren't very effective against targets under the size of a cutlass. Swtching to IR or CS missiles immediately made them much more effective. No idea if anything has changed in the new patch though.
Actually they need to buff missile damage against shield. missiles are supposed to be powerful and take down shield more easily than energy weapon because after all, a missile explosion is energy. But i heard missile are like ballistic weapon against shield. I fought a corsair a days ago and i literally used all my missiles to destroy it
I am curious on how the missle changes were affecting you in this patch? I am hopign these changes do not mkae it into live. the small missles seem the least affected. Unlike the size IV's and up (torps).
"Why are the ships here bugged?" Well its star citizen. Thanks for the video though, didn't know anything had been done to stealth. Might need to test out the prowler today. good video
The Constellation Phoenix is a good upgrade for the Firebird indeed! 😂 Especially with the incoming missile speed nerf patch, where the Phoenix’s S1 missiles are the least affected. CIG being CIG I have the feeling, with all the current raging about that missile nerf, they might backtrack. We’ll see if the Firebird, and missile focused ships in general, remain feasible. o7

"Right now you can kill any ship without any problems..." Yeah no problems at all! Except for the server straight up swallowing missiles, or missiles just ignoring your target and flying somewhere else, absolutely no problems! 🤦

Not really. Missiles have been super unbalanced since 3.23, with the reduced speeds from MM. Most missiles could travel faster than any ship could travel even in NAV mode. Now they're slow enough that players can outrun them if their ships are fast enough, giving players the opportunity to evade missiles even in NAV mode.
@@harabecswurveweathers The only thing that needed to be done to fix that problem is make countermeasures actually work. All torpedoes can be outrun by ships in SCM mode now without even trying
@@IIITangentIII today's PTU build increases missile/torpedo speed. Thorston gave the example of Torpedoes being increased to 514/560m/s. And Countermeasures don't work on NAV mode so outrunning Missiles is your only option in that case.

The Firebird is an excellent support ship in a group with light or medium fighters.

What livery is that in the video thumbnail? It looks so good.
I was just gonna ask the same loll.
It is concierge paint, but there is a bug showing blue paint instead of gold.

Can we see a video on 3.23.2? Missile changes are important. Also thanks for the tutorial on stealth.

They gave an explanation for the reduced speed and reversed it today after finishing their tests, fyi.
