    The term 'land of the free' to describe America was coined in 1814, when they literally still had slavery.

      Might want to check your facts. America is in fact the only country that has a 2nd amendment and actual free speech. Don't even dare try to say America is "Free-ish" when you can literally be jailed and fined for "offensive speech" in Canada, UK, France, Germany, Australia etc etc... Along the same lines as the euthanasia/assisted suicide thing, the whole abortion debate is just as ridiculous! up until a certain point in the pregnancy, it's not really a human life, and it's YOUR body and YOUR life that's affected by choosing to have or not have the baby! No religious group, governement or ANYONE should be allowed to dictate what you can and can't do in that situation!

    • @galadballcrusher8182
      @galadballcrusher8182 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well yes and no. Don't get me wrong , i am pro abortion for medical reasons or if it is a rape victim but i certainly disagree with the frequency some women who don't use contraceptives go for it. But reason i said no is about your statement about government. I agree no religion should have any say in that. Because imho they mix too much in worldly affairs. Religion should only be a personal philosophical way of seeing the world but not mandating regulations. But society should have a say. Because depending on culture laws differ on what is murder or not as well what is alive or not.

When you start drinking that young, a lot of the time you start to settle down and quit/reduce booze in your early 20s, which is when Americans are just (legally) getting started. That's mad.

    The Dutch were the first with a law for Euthanasia/Assisted Suicide (which in practice is still a very difficult process of course) in 2000 and the first with a law that legalized gay marriage in 2001. Cannabis was condoned since 1976 and a law for its regulation came in 2003. Prostitution was decriminalized in around 2007 and, although obviously still strongly regulated (to prevent trafficking, etc.), Sx worker is a formally recognized, legal, protected occupation and they pay taxes. The Dutch have always been ahead of things it seems. It was the first independent country/state with the first national flag and the first national anthem.
    They also had the first state constitution ("plakkaat der verlatinghe"). This constitution was brought to the US by the Pilgrim Fathers when the they left from Leiden harbor in the Netherlands (where they lived after fleeing from England). This document would later be used as the foundation for the American Constitution. So you could make the argument Americans got their freedom from the Dutch. The Dutch who also used to own (the land) that is now Manhattan/New York, which is why there are so many references to Dutch cities, etc. in New York. Many boroughs are named after Dutch cities, many street names originated from Dutch street names/cities and many customs, traditions and even food (like the donut) were originally brought over by the Dutch,.

    The US are masters at branding. And the people just believe the brand. Because the marketing has been done for so many years since the Cold War. The URSS has been dissolved and the propaganda/branding with it but the US propaganda/branding is still going strong.
    Now people can see though the branding a lil bit. Kudos to TikTok and others medias. But it’s still very strong in minds.
    When you are in the US and listen to media, they made you feel like everybody else is fucked except the US. And at some point, you start to believe it. It can also justify what they can do to you. Knowing you won’t go away because you think. It’s way better where you already are.

Weed is still illegal here in Texas but what's worst can happen on weed, You take a long nap? now if smoke crack I hear can become volatile and potentially hurt others. That's where I draw the line, does your "freedom" hurt others? Which is why I don't get why alcohol isn't stricter cuz it hurts a lot more ppl than weed ever had or ever will.

    I’ve never understood why prostitution is illegal. Genuinely. If everyone is consenting then I don’t see how it matters. And I can only imagine it would be good for the economy.
    And to your point, in Portugal they have decriminalized drugs and it’s had a profound impact. It’s still illegal and you could get fined if you’re caught with it. But since it’s decriminalized people arnt afraid to actually seek help for overdoses and such. The death rate due to drugs has dropped drastically.
    I understand it’s a crime due to how much certain drugs can affect your life and those around you. When you get that addicted you’re far more likely to commit crimes to support the addiction. It’s not like weed where the worst you’ll get is someone trying to eat all the snacks. 😂 But I really think criminalizing it causes more problems in the long run.

      @joepiekl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1% doesn't tell the whole story though. Because for men aged 20-34, 1 in 30 are behind bars, and for black men, that jumps up to 1 in 9, meaning they're more likely to go to jail than go to college. Many in commercially run prisons that have no intention of rehabilitating them and sell their labour to private companies to manufacture things like paint, military equipment, etc. It's basically slavery reinvented for the modern age.

    Well, his right about America isnt the freest country in the world. But definitely not based on the right to use drugs or legalize the expolitation of women for sex. In Sweden its a crime to buy sex but not selling. You go after the exploiters not their victims. I would have brought up labour rights, low wages, healthcare, paid vacation, sick pay, maternity leave and many other things that makes the USA a third world country.

      Making doing crack illegal doesn't actually fix the problem. If anything, you're putting those people more on society's back, and at the same time, you're pushing them into more vulnerable and worse positions.
      Making doing crack illegal is basically like if you went to the doctor with a twisted ankle, and they amputated that leg, and your other leg for good measure, and then they broke one of your arms, and then you got thrown out onto the street and told "if we don't do this people will keep twisting their ankles!" Somehow when it's drugs, people fail to see how insane what they're saying is.
