George would be asked about AI art. This is how he'd handle it, I think.
"Oog didn't like Ug's burnt stick. Line not art. Real art make with hand and mud. Line have no personality."
      Then he'd pause.
"Rob can't stand the neuralink screenshot. Thats not art. Thats just imagining a picture! Real art takes curated source libraries and carefully constructed syntax!"
Then he'd make a classy fart joke.

Carlin was very much a social commentator. He could make it funny, or he could slap you in the face, but you knew it would be relevant. Honestly, if you want to truly understand what is going on in the country and in our society, listen to a lot of comedians. They will always point out the shortcomings and gaps and they will be forthright about it - unlike our politicians!
I quote comedians all the time when taking politics and social issues because, of all the people that speak on these issues, they are the most honest and, usually, make the most sense!

As a Christian, i NEVER understood the whole swearing on the Bible thing.... Christianity (including Catholicism) and Judaism is the literal antithesis to idolatry (swearing on and praying to symbols)... one ofnthe Commandments is no engraven images... and yet Catholics have engraven images of saints and praying to statues of Jesus and crucifixes and swearing on Bibles.
If God exists... and afterlife is how Christians believe... and lies are sins... and sins are dealt with in the afterlife... and if God is omnipotent... then why are we swearing on an icon as a promise? Either we're truthful or we're not. YOU dont know wither way. And God DOES know either way Bible or no Bible... who tf are we hiding from?
And if you dont believe in the Bible then what's it matter??
As a Christian I'll never swear on the Bible because that's idolatry.

In Fowler's Stages of Faith, someone who views God as a "cop in the sky" or believes that God doesn't care for human beings is likely in Stage 2, the "Mythic-Literal" stage, or possibly in Stage 3, the "Synthetic-Conventional" stage.
    1. **Stage 2: Mythic-Literal Faith**
    - Characteristics: Individuals in this stage tend to take religious stories and metaphors literally. Their understanding of faith is concrete and based on a straightforward, black-and-white view of the world. God might be seen as a powerful, authoritative figure who rewards good behavior and punishes bad behavior.
    - Beliefs about God: God as a "cop in the sky" fits well within this stage, as it reflects a literal and simplistic understanding of divine justice.
    2. **Stage 3: Synthetic-Conventional Faith**
    - Characteristics: This stage is characterized by a more cohesive but still somewhat unexamined belief system, often heavily influenced by one's community and authority figures. Individuals seek to fit in and often adopt the beliefs of those around them without critical examination.
    - Beliefs about God: While less literal than Stage 2, this stage might still harbor simplistic views of God and could include the belief that God doesn't care for human beings if such a view is prevalent in their community.
To help someone move beyond these stages, one can encourage critical thinking, personal reflection, and exposure to diverse theological perspectives. This can help them progress to Stage 4, the "Individuative-Reflective" stage, where they begin to take personal responsibility for their beliefs and develop a more nuanced understanding of faith.

Carlins teachings are applicable today and probably forever-
But it’s not just Carlin, the things Marvin Gaye was singing about in the 60’s/70’s are still relevant today, word for word-
Another commonality is people keep voting for the same party, expecting different results-
Typically voting doesn’t matter, but every 100 years or so, we get someone who is outside the establishment and brings needed change- FDR was treated almost as bad as Trump, but his populism allowed him to overcome the then establishments attempts to overthrow him- hopefully history is repeating itself, otherwise we’re in deep trouble

I could be wrong but if I remember right offering your right hand is a sign of honesty. Most people are right handed. Shaking hands with your right hand is a sign you're not carrying a gun in western times since the right hand is the dominant hand anytime you want to portray truth you offer that hand. Same thing with swearing on a Bible.

    • @krkhns
      @krkhns หลายเดือนก่อน

Actually goes back farther than that, but same honesty concept. Its the same reason people in the military salute and countries drive on the left hand side of the road. In medieval times, your right hand was your sword and jousting hand (no lefties allowed). When two knights passed on horseback, they would stay to the left and raise their right hand to show they were unarmed.

Carlin and Burr, top of the comedy food chain. I see a lot of comments from people who say they don't like Carlin's last few years. They say he was just a bitter and angry old man.
I say BS to that. I thought he was great. He was just calling out all of the stupid BS in society.
Please check out his 15 minute 2006 bit
"Abortion And The Sanctity Of Life".
    Very intelligent and extremely funny.
What he's talking about is what's happening in our nation now. A must watch. Also a 3:47 bit "Modern Man".
The dude is rapping the entire bit, you guy's will love it.
People who don't like Carlin don't get intelligent comedy or they're extremely Christian. Relax people it's comedy.
George Carlin "The GOAT" of comedy.
    Bill Burr "The Baby GOAT"
    More George Please!
    We want George,We Want George!
    Peace ❤❤

George Carlin is a philosopher or was a philosopher honestly more than he was a comedian.

It's so damn laughable that the courts here in the US actually believe people will tell the truth just cause they place their hand on a bible 😆 I'm an atheist, what then? Lol

In Matthew 5: 33 - 37 Jesus says not to swear by anything, so why are Christians swearing on a Bible?
