I (40M) have a daughter, Jade (16F), with my ex-wife, Margo (38F). Margo and I met when I was 21 and she had just turned 19. We met at our friend's party and we got along really well. I asked her out the day we met because he was really smart and pretty and I really liked her. Unfortunately, she said yes that day and we ended up together for a really long time. We dated for a couple of months before we met each other’s families and then eventually, after almost a year of dating, we decided to move in together. Margo went to college nearby and she had been living on campus, but I asked her to move in with me in my apartment, and she agreed. This is important because later on, she would blame me for everything that went wrong and insisted that it was my fault that she didn’t have a career of her own. She was more than happy to move in with me in my apartment, and I didn’t have to ask her twice. We started living together, and everything was going great. Our families approved of each other and we were in love, everything was perfect. But then, shortly after her graduation, Margo found out that she was pregnant. Again, let me just make it clear to everybody that she was the one who wanted to keep the baby. Something she would blame me for, for the next several years to come.

My thought entirely, I wouldn't trust the stepfather either, a pretty young teen, and a tired " elderly mother" for a wife. The wife might be worried about her husband starting to have a wandering eye!

I was thinking this as well. I have a feeling her husband is cheating on her and it won't take long for Margo to slip back to her old life and she will probably start cheating on her husband also. This will continue until one of them wants to make a new life with one of their cheating partners.
I'm sure Margo dropped her parental rights because the husband was afraid the OP might pay him a visit at his work and things would get around how poor of a stepfather he is. Not to mention all it would take to turn the masses including friends, family, and CPS against Margo would be for Jade to record some instances of Margo and/or her husband telling Jade to clean the whole house, cook them dinner, and then babysit their new baby and also show how bad the house is when she got back from her 2 weeks with OP.
I hate people who use their kids as "free labor". My 9-year-old triplet daughters have age-appropriate chores and get "paid" for their work. It's often they come to me or their mother for more work to make more money to buy things. While we will give them a little more work, but it's easy and silly stuff like helping my wife and I walk the dogs, wash the cars, etc. Basically bonding type "jobs" where we each can spend a little one-on-one time with each of them. They still need time to be kids and do the absolutely ridiculous stuff that preteen girls do which often involves antagonizing me LOL.

At the age of 11 years old, I could cook dinner for 12-16 people. Full meals full out - Roast Beef with potatoes and carrots cut in chunks, and whole small onions baked in with roast. 1-2 pan's of homemade bread, plus a cake or pie , l got to eat what was left over from their plates or what was in the bowl's . I was expected to cook Christmas Dinner. *** 25-35 lb Turkey - with 2 kind's of stuffing - chunk's of potatoes, carrots - turnips - parsnips - whole baby onion's. Gravy - bread or bun's. Desert was apple or pumpkin pie with a cake for those who wanted that. I set the table - cleared by myself and washed the dishes by myself. I was not treated like a child, but what l was told I was GARBAGE!!! My mother beat me with what ever she could lay her hands on and told me l owed her my life. No l was not a only child, l was 2 of 5 and she told me to my face she hated my guts and wished I had died at birth. That l am the person I am, is truly because l raised my self from what I read in books. I am very proud of who and what l am . Protect your child and keep her safe from those who would harm her.

I always smile when a story about a “completely helpless” pregnant woman is chosen. Yesterday I heard one about a lady who felt too precious to go up a flight of stairs. 😂😂. There are women who work, have toddler, workout and keep a house, but these delicate flowers can’t wash dishes or do laundry! 🤦🏻‍♀️. My memes had 10 kids, the last two deliveries were the only ones with a Dr, in a hospital. She drew her water from a well, put it in a big tub, over firewood SHE CARRIED, and washed her clothes in the tub. She hung them out, made three HUGE meals AND they owned a store and kept a GARDEN. They used a wood stove too! They had livestock, as well! There were cracks between the siding boards and snow would blow in sometimes. We are SO privileged, SO SOFT, and so unappreciative of all our conveniences.

I had a pregnant lady phone me up once demanding that I drive over to her apartment to help her go down the stairs, because her doctor told her to not go up and down stairs without assistance. I explained that I couldn't do that because I was just about to lead a meeting, and some of the attendees had driven an hour to get there. She freaked out at me because I wouldn't leave right then and there.

She fought tooth and nail the first time for those hefty child support checks and of course the free slave labor for when her kid got older. At the end of the day its plainly clear she didn't care about her child one way or the other. Just what she could do for her. And once she decided she was sick of her lazy deadbeat moms' treatment and didn't want to go back? Jade became unbeneficial to Margo and useless. So she easily threw her away. Believe it or not a lot of Moms are actual deadbeats who keep their kids around for the support checks the free govt monies and the free labor. And sadly society gives zero fcks about it. Society just focuses on the bad dads (while talking down to and calling the good dads liars like the redditors in this story) giving bad moms a free pass and pretending like all moms are good moms.

This is a stupid comment. Are u really a human being and a mother ? Can’t be .. every sensible woman knows that pregnancy may have the common issues like nausea and vomiting and cravings but we also know that there many differences between woman’s pregnancies . Just because u had the energy to do chores , does not mean another women will have the same experience . How old are u ? How can u even make such a dimwitted comment ? All four my pregnancies were different , first pregnancy no energy , 2nd pregnancy i had allot of energy 3rd pregnancy I could barely keep my eyes open that I ended up having to pause my night time classes at university and left work much earlier than Anticipated , I just slept most of the time . Fourth pregnancy my anaemia was really bad .. basically my second pregnancy was the only pregnancy that i was ever ready battery and could travel with a bus and train to full time college , walk in heels , do chores , cook , clean , be a young wife and mother and still doll myself up daily like normal after the firs trimester .. each pregnancy differed for me , my energy levels was completely different and i would have insulted anyone if they told me at any point that I was lazy when I was far to tired to do chores in some of my pregnancies . My sister had energy in her first pregnancy but not her second pregnancy . It’s stupid when women judge other women based on their own experience . There are women who have pre existing health issues when they get pregnant so the pregnancy impacts their bodies. Pregnancy impacts women differently while there is common factors that comes with pregnancy like nausea , vomiting , less energy because our energy is absorbed by the baby .. your cravings is different to another woman’s cravings but we all hve cravings , food also taste different , maybe u could enjoy the smell of meat while someone else hated it . Vegetarians tend to crave meat in pregnancies while someone like my sister became vegetarian in her pregnancies .. if u are really a woman , you need to stop hating on women and educate yourself .

Okay, so op is the problem of this story because when that lady started complaining and blaming him for everything, he should have opened the door and said leave, you're free then dealt with raising his daughter the best way he could. Instead, he projected all this future pain onto his daughter, if he divorced the mother instead of just doing what was right because the lady wasn't doing right by them. Then he waits until she finally tells him she cheated to divorce. At a minimum I would have had some words for that man.
He didn't fight for his child hard enough, because the whole time she was blaming him, her lack of career, him getting her pregnant. Well, ma'am, I thought you wanted to be free since you blame me but no, he didn't fight hard enough. So she got fifty percent now look, his daughter is a housemaid 4 two weeks out of the month, because he didn't stand up like a man to do what he should've dione way back when she was three and four years old . Now we see to the future where his daughter has some of the same traits as her daddy, because instead of telling her daddy off the top, what this crazy woman at her husband was doing to her she held it in and suffered. All it takes for evil to win is for people to keep their mouths closed. So now that the crap has been discovered, he was right in what he said to her, but he also needs to recognize that there's some residue from that treatment from her moma left in his daughter and he needs to be trying to work with her on it, for her future because she is 50% Margot. He needs to get her therapy. Who cares what people say? They wasn't in that marriage, they don't know what went down. He was a good provide he was probably was a good husband, he was also a doormat for margot, He should've gave the new man a heads up, but that was none of his business. I saw it coming, she never really wanted Jade and who knows what Jade went through for YEARS.

Pregnancy is important and delicate time for women to be cherished... BUT. That does NOT mean or give excuses to reign hell on others for the decision YOU chose to make.
One shouldn't expect a level, especially an outrageous one, of treatment well beyond their means they lacked even before they became pregnant nor expect others to sacrifice their lives making them comfortable.
I, personally, am not a fan of any women doing strenuous tasks while pregnant, especially first and last trimester, but that's their choice like the child.
