    I met Petar once in Nashville at the Invite Jam. One of the sweetest humans. He seemed kind and determined in life :D. One of my favorite drummers today for sure!

      My son and I have had a few connections with him in Dallas and last year in Austin. Just a super good dude. Made us feel like old friends last time we saw them. He came out, waved at my son, said hey to him…by name, and went on to kick ass.

    4:14 - Yeah if I was handed this chart, I'd grit my teeth for 4 bars of hihats and nope the eff out with some 8ths. But Petar keeps it tight and manages to look comfortable in the process! Great stuff, this series is going to be great.

    Regarding drummers, when I think of accuracy, speed, complexity, consistency, confidence, mesmerizing, and beautiful music, I think of Petar Janjic. I love watching your drum sticks control. You make it look so smooth and effortless. Yet, I know that’s years of practice, dedication and natural gifts and talents.
    I read a question once, asking why are drummers so strong. The answer was that, drums are one of the most physically demanding of all musical instruments. By playing them, you use the body's muscle groups to deliver power, speed, endurance, and coordination over long periods of time.
    WOW! Highly impressive and incredible. In addition, when you perform Petar, there is sheer joy, happiness and fun beaming from you. With the high level that you perform at, along with your creativity, positivity, wonderful personality and character, makes you my all-time favorite drummer.
    Thank you for all the musical joy you bring, with your amazing talent. I love, love, love watching you perform. You’re at the top of your game, and an all-around awesome person.
    🍃♥️🥁🎼🔥🔥🔥👏🏼👏🏼

    And that, ladies and gwntleman, is why he is a breath of fresh air and one of my favs! Killed it, Petar! Waiting for your folk/traditional Serbian patterns and eating chipotle burritos while playing a 25/4! ;) Much respect!

    This is “composition” at its finest, pure and simple. So much to love in this piece. Petar is most solid, and his sense of time and pace are mind-boggling.😯😳😵

    Love this song, I think I first heard it watching the recording of the Metropole Orkest concert. The full orchestra really added a ton to the song. I always thought this sounded a bit like drum & bass, which is awesome for a live band to play.

    Love this song. The imagery that was evoked in my head was that of walking through a forest with beautiful fall foliage. The horns have a retro/nostalgic feel to them, like you're looking back fondly on some old times.

    Brilliant video. Superb timing also. And don't forget, Martin Vjink in the Metropole Orchestra also nailed this in a live orchestral performance with Cory. It would be wrong to compare the two drummers because both have their own styles of playing and both are incredible drummers. And to his credit, Cory let them put their own "spin" on the music, which in itself is simply great.

    • @benpeck5623
      @benpeck5623 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think it would be wrong at all to compare how these two drummers formulated their parts for this song, it might even be instructive! While Janjic clearly gets it done here with the paradiddle and Teen Town hi-hat variations, in my opinion these choices seem to make it challenging for him to play at this song's quicker tempo, and ends up with the hi-hat and snare being overly busy. It also seems to cause him to put the snare on 2 and 4 a little behind the beat here for most of the song. Vjink, on the other hand, puts the snare a bit ahead of the beat during some parts, which I prefer because it adds to the "chaos" and pushes the song forward without rushing, but then places it a little behind the beat during the more relaxed piano solo part.

    • @125sloth
      @125sloth ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benpeck5623 Could not agree more. What I meant and i should have explained a little better is that I was not comparing either drummer as one being better in general to the other. Sort of like Buddy Rich and Louis Bellson. Both great drummers but who is better is personal choice. Although Bellson was a much nicer person and din't smoke weed continuously like Rich. And Rich's solos were often predictable, where Bellson was full of surprises.But I digress. After reading your comments about Vjink and Janvic I watched both videos again, not doubting your observations either. You covered it well, it was exactly as you observed. Both great performances.

    I've just realised Petar is a leftie! I played drums for a while and always on a right handed kit (at church etc) where I can't change it around. It's actually weird to see what a left handed kit looks like!

    • @kushking420
      @kushking420 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of my friends is lefty on guitar, but when he sits behind a drum set, he prefers a right hand set. He's not really a drummer but has played basic beats behind my right handed drum set up. He recently bought a cheap used drum set and has it right handed
